Hey team,

The freelance gig is much farther along but continues to take up my time. Per my last few messages, I have been looking to put out something modestly-sized this month, which involved a lot of dabbling in different ideas. As such, I thought I'd share some of the dabbles with you!

Dabble One

I started with the Roguelike Ennui script, because it required the least prep to get started - I didn't have re rewatch any movies or do any research, I have 1500 hours on Nuclear Throne so it's not like I needed to replay it. And I liked what I was writing, but it soon became clear that I didn't know where it was going. Which is fine! Given the subject matter, I think seeing where the writing takes me is the best option. But it meant I had no way of knowing how long the video would be or when it would be done, so I decided that was not the thing to focus on if I'm targeting a May release.

But here's a bit of the script:

Dabble Two

As is, perhaps, predictable, I then turned my attention to an entirely new idea that is not one of the four I pitched recently! I'm not 100% sure what format it will take - long video? series of shorts? TikToks??! - but I assure you it is very silly. Right now it's a "peck away at it for fun when I have a minute" type deal, not the main focus. Gonna keep it close to the chest but here are some pics. (Curious what you'll make of them.)

Dabble Three

I didn't pivot to the FPS video, but I did have one idea for it that I executed on a whim. May employ it in the video proper, but for now it's a one-off. (You may have seen it on Twitter.)

Dabble Four

Finally, I settled on the Homily for Steve Rogers video as the next thing, and the script is underway. I have rewatched all the relevant movies, made an outline, and begun the script. Here is an excerpt from the early section:

Cheers, y'all.

As ever, happy to wander down any rabbit hole with you 😄

Dabble Two has gotta be adventure games ranked using wine-tasting terms, right? B is body (how enjoyable the gameplay is), E is either elegance (complexity) or expressiveness (uniqueness), and A is aftertaste (impact on yourself or influence on the adventure game genre)? i could be totally off base with these and i still don't know what the diamonds or the salt shaker mean, but i'm hooked on whatever this is. also, that roguelike ennui section is powerful. roguelikes are possibly my favorite genre and i never connected my mental state to my performance in that way.

Man, that last bit brings me back to the golden age of Captain America slashfic

"Non-depressed people (whatever those are)..." made me giggle. It's like neurotypical. They seem elusive to me. I have met one or two and gosh...I just don't even know how to relate.

I like the look of all of this. Dabble two is a bit confusing but in an intruigung way
