Hey! This is regarding PW chapter 250. Read ahead at your own risk!

I'd like to think that I've given some pretty balanced options for the three Classes. I just want to know which of the three you think that Astrid could take. I can see each being a possibility, and the people around her will have varying thoughts as well. Tomorrow's chapter will probably still not have the selection made, so just curious what y'all are thinkin.

If you have a strong opinion and want to argue about it, I just might be persuaded.

I don't read PW, I have no context for this poll. It just amused me to select "Hammermaster"

Crazyone47

They are all good. I would pick hammermaster to support the team but unfallen meteor just seems more immediately powerful.

MJ

There's no benefit to berserker or meteor given the team is well oiled now. Plus, radical changes won't help them in the short term with the war either. And the others can choose their choices knowing they have a hybrid healer, frontliner, finisher, support in Astrid. The flexibility + her training with Liora and the others makes it a no brainer. It'll make the Wanderers a force to reckon with in the dungeon and battlefield. 8 charges of essence/physique will rampage the enemy. I REALLY REALLY hope Astrid picks the direct upgrade.

If you do choose Hammermaster, PLEASE add a skill "Hammer Time", it would be amazing

I’m torn between the Berserker or the Meteor. I went with the Berserker because despite her baggage surrounding Barbarians and her upbringing, she appears to have far more mannerisms of Barbarians than she’d admit. It would be cool to see her simply let loose and embrace it.

Hammermaster is a good choice but not the one I would go with. It fits great for the kind of role she's got right now and is a step forward from what Astrid has already been doing with the team buffs and having people at her back to shore up weaknesses, but The Wanderers won't always be together. I like the sound of Unfallen Meteor. Its a great mix of offensive capability and control both singular and aoe. But the real cherry on top is the mental skill. It has less mental attribute gain on paper but in function has far, far, more due to the passive 100% increase. She'll be striking out on her own eventually. She might need the raw firepower and soundness of mind (looking at you berserker) offered here. Edit: forgot to mention that meteor also slots better into a dedicated finisher role than either berserker or hammermaster. Both of which excel better at battles of attrition in comparison. Let's not forget. Astrid is a finisher.

Unfallen Meteor all the way. Astrid correctly identified the issues with Berserker, and I feel that Hammermaster is too balanced. It doesn't excel as a finisher, and while Astrid is transitioning away from that, it is generally good without a focus. I think that Hammermaster is setting up to have battles of attrition, and with how monsters scale with more stats per level, I could see getting into losing battles where she's keeping the team healed but they can't actually defeat their enemies quickly enough to get out of bad situations. Unfallen Meteor, on the other hand, really ramps up damage output and she won't need to heal others as much if she can end fights more quickly. Her healing would become secondary to the party's dedicated healer to be used in emergencies only, but in tradeoff she'll get the ability to control the fight more by pulling in enemies and dealing out more damage. Disrupting enemy positioning will be key in the upcoming war fighting intelligent enemies. I do find the combo of damaging teammates only to then boost their damage reduction in the AoE skill kind of amusing. Plus, Infallible Mind is amazing protection for her and the team.

Unfallen Meteor was my initial thought just from the names. But the splash damage aspect pushed me away from it; much like the Berserker class, it would be ideal for a solo fighter combatting hordes. But that's something you do mostly in Bronze/Iron/Steel; from what we've heard that's much less common in Mithril and above, where you can probably clear the swarms of lower tier enemies without a dedicated class/skill, and you need to be able to work with allies and target single strong enemies. Hammermaster is simply better at that, as far as I can tell.

I think that Astrid should specialize and get away from a well-rounded class. If she focuses more on damage output that will lead to more effective fighting as a team and the support focused classes can worry about actually supporting, since they'll select their upgrades as a group. The team dynamics are going to need to shift with new classes coming from the others. If Astrid is doing a little of everything, then she isn't doing one thing really well. Plus, in the future, the team is going to break up and as Astrid goes to a new team she'd be more beneficial with a strong, well defined role rather than a mashup of everything.

It's your story and I'll keep reading no matter what the choice is, I just love berserker characters

I would choose Hammermaster as a well balanced upgrade that keeps her as team player, if only it wouldn't be called Hammermaster. Is it really the upgrade to a Champion, to become a Hammermaster? Both other classes make it much harder for her to fight in a team. The berserker one will remove healing from allies and heavy rationality penalty would be crippling. (In fact, if she becomes a berserker and Benedict continues to whine, I could see her attacking him.) The meteor nerfs healing to become rarer again and only for two allies, while making them take half of her damage from being a meteor. I actually think she may damage her squishier teammates more than monsters do with this class.

MJ

Fair points. But, the path is long and Mithril isn't the end. A broad base and strong foundation is much better for Astrid and the team (new and Wanderers). If she needs to solo for a bit because the team is on a break, then direct upgrade and Mithril level foundations with that breadth is unbeatable. Damage output is great. But flexibility in damage output is a league better. Just Smite is nuts Plus, this helps the rest of the team specialize further as they've already been doing. Having Astrid also specialize now to more of a damage dealing frontliner / finisher is the wrong move. Esp because the next challenge isn't Dungeon beasts but humans. Who are worse in all aspects as enemies and where the flexibility she brings to the Wanderers makes them special. Hell, even healing allies who're not part of the team. Imagine she has to choose 2 of her mom, dad, ahna, ahna's kid to heal vs all 4. Finally. More is more with her insane attributes per level. She'll deal damage a plenty

Arkeus

Hammermaster is probably the safest and most effective choice considering it doesn't actually lose anything significant, though it's also kind of boring. Unfallen meteor is very powerful though it would mean needing a much stronger healer in the team, and the lack of stamina and mana recovery teamwise is going to create a lot of issues. Berserker loses immortal physique, so it's a nonstarter. Maybe if Benedict was immediately replaced by a much stronger healer, but...

Arkeus

Hammermaster is a bit sad, only Evo that actually doesn't give her anything new. It's just that berserker deletes immortal physique (and basically shoot her ability to control the fight to death given mental effects), and meteor's much more limited physique also means the team would have to change how they fight, plus the splash damage. However if Benedict has a good Evo meteor could really shine. Or the upcoming Benedict replacement. As an aside, meteor and berserker frees two slots, while hammermaster only frees one, which would have consequences for upcoming mithril skill choices (and maybe boon).

M van Dongen

Damaging allies with your main empowered killing skill is a no-no. Just imagine the squish.... It also sounds restricted as to where she can employ it. Dungeon tunnels ? Nope.

At the end of the day, this is a story that we read. I want the stories I read to be interesting, therefore I chose the most interesting option; Unfallen Meteor.

Druick

The Wanderers aren't going to be together forever so I see no reason to make such an important choice based off of current balance. If she's going to keep delving and pushing as hard as she always has, I believe either Beserker or Meteor are the ways to go. That said, my votes for the Unfallen Meteor

The Arcane Emperor

The choice seems obvious. Unfallen Meteor is the clear winner. Berserker robs her of her recovery charges, Hammermaster is a narrower upgrade to Champion. Meteor meanwhile straight up boosts everything she likes about her current build, with the exception being the reduced recovery charges per hour. I would see this as a more than fair trade.

Torus al-Nashihra

I think you knew which one would win. 😁 The Unfallen path sounds like it'll evolve into something truly earthshaking

Torus al-Nashihra

Just realized that Astrid's thinking of delving, specifically with The Wanderers when she may not see the inside of a dungeon for years. She'll be fighting other humans for a while. Considering how she was told high-tier adventurers are used in war, Unfallen makes even more sense. When Astrid shows up, the fight is *over*
