Before anything, again, next video is gon be us going through a few extra performance vids or whatever for select tracks from Going Seventeen album, so that we can choose our favourite and wrap this album up with the respect it deserves :)

So PLEASE. Links for whichever song you want us to check out from the album! :D

That aside, yeh. We 200% get it now. This album easily one of the strongest from SVT we've seen so far, which is unreal to say out loud because Love & Letter was insane in its own ways and we thought nothing would ever top that XD

And yeh, with that, Smile Flower....was a different beast altogether. And we go into the whys and the hows in the video so Ima stop here and let our video selves explain :'D

Oh and definitely tell us more if you know what happened with the comment section :/

So for now, enjoy, and we'll see you in the next one!!

Love <3

Woozi wrote Smile Flower with the members in mind. I think they were going through some growing pains as a group, arguing more and worrying over their future as a group despite how much they love working together. And since Woozi is a big tsundere and doesn't like to say his feelings out loud, he made this song for them instead. When the members heard it, they immediately loved it and decided to put it in this album, with the meaning of the song broadened to include Carats. So while it did become a fan song, the original meaning of the song is what makes it precious to both the members ane Carats.

My favorite lyrics for this track is 함께라서 웃을 수 있고 (cuz we together we are able to smile) 너라서 울 수도 있어 (cuz of you I am able to cry) 그렇게라도 못할 게 어딨어 (and cuz of that there is nothing that I cannot do) especially 그렇게라도 못할 게 어딨어 line lyrics is so hard to translate to english that can savour the Korean nuance out of it. Its like saying I can conquer the world through easy and hard time cuz I am able to face my feelings when we are together. which is for me such a powerful expressions that can be directed to fans and members. and this tracks particularly reflect on the shared feelings of being vulnerable and empowerement at the same time. to be honest, there were rumours that tho Pretty U from Love & Letter was successful, Pledis are still in debt and Seventeen may be disbanded at the time. And the pressure on Woozi’s for producing the album is so huge. We believe that he pours all of his insecurity and members anxiety into this song. its like a bitter sweet feelings that for the end that is still far, promise that wherever we are, we can still bloom a smile and move on with our life. It is sad I know. :( As I mention before that Going Seventeen album is the opening of new Seventeen Sounds and funny we called next album is Woozi divorce era album lol. (Insert Who hurt you bro? Meme) I am no good with links but definitely check out ode to you Smile Flowers and maybe some music shows Face Pace for the legendary choreo Jeonghan vs 12 members. Anyway. Looking forward to the next one! Love, a Carat. 🌕💍

These videos aren't part of the album since these songs were not officially released by the hiphop unit. But it would be fun to see you react since these performances are so underrated. You'll see a different side of the HHU. Watching them spit fire bars under the rain was pure perfection. What's the problem + MMO (Diamond Edge Concert) https://youtu.be/joj9bOFrf2I?si=hnd2FY3OEp0IhPlF Lotto Remix - Seventeen Hip Hop Unit [Diamond Edge in Seoul 2017] https://youtu.be/vPfkfATSwec?si=cx-kJIrymLh18pxG Un Haeng Il Chi https://youtu.be/e0qam8xaFeQ?si=sqgftBWL42Sd9cGv Enjoy! :)

This song is a staple on my cozy/comfort playlist, also thank you Han-C for bringing up that Exo track so I can add that one to the playlist as well! I listen to some Exo here and there but that song hadn't come up for me before. Also always appreciate when D'Some talks about the meaning and lyrics of the song a bit as I'm very much like Han-C where I listen to songs while paying zero attention to lyrics, so it's always interesting to learn about them here! It's interesting that it's considered a fan song, from the video it almost seemed more directed towards the members themselves but I guess it could also be applied either way and still work. I can't help with additional performance links but am looking forward to the continued dive into this amazing album, and hearing your final thoughts!

These are one of the few songs throughout SVT's discography that I think are directly born out of some hardships/difficult times they were going through. Songs like this and Circles which is in a much later album are so beloved. It's songs and lyrics like these that really makes me feel deeply for Woozi. Don't even get me started on the song 'What Kind of Future' 어떤 미래 that he performed for the first time in 2018 iirc - it was never meant to be officially released but he eventually did in memory of Moonbin as it was his favourite song. Also loved that you mentioned Hoshi's tone! It's one of my fav parts of the song. If you enjoyed that, you'll love watching/listening to his feature on Epik High's song Screen Time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FclztCyynyE

I think for me, Smile Flower is a song that never fails to give me chills. I never expect it, I always think "ah, it's not as powerful as I think it is" and then it hits me with that. There's one clip, from Ode To You, with carats singing along, and I think that's the most beautiful performance of that song to ever exist. Let's see about extra links, now. To save the trouble of hunting down a single good link for everything, I just recorded the performances myself! Ode To You Smile Flower: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GTnBrclxDz5jcjnRFGkAdf--c-0VrYbK/view?usp=sharing Power of Love Fast Pace (1 vs 12 included, plus better audio mix): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lD3X8aba8X7W0nOTgwx67tYJ6ZVcFI3h/view?usp=sharing Follow Tour Beautiful (ot12 because Seungkwan was sadly on a hiatus): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pFCv0bgtvgm77iT_kznDCOAApTlQHC0f/view?usp=sharing Hopefully all the links work properly! I tried checking them and they seemed fine, but if not tell me and I'll make sure they do!

one of my fave songs & afaik Jun's as well. it's one of their vulnerable songs that tells the story of their innermost feelings/struggles. a song that can both be inspirational & comforting whenever one is going through the tough times

didn't think that Smile Flower would be compared to EXO's Sing For You, but now that you say it, I get what you're saying <3 I sang Sing For You a lot in karaoke too, yay, high hive Han-C! congrats on finishing Going Seventeen album. can't wait for you to start Al1!!

konekochan

when you guys start checking out Al1 (pronounced alone) there is a performance team track called WHO that is only on cd, but you can find it on youtube. I think seventeenlyrics has a video on the track. It's one of my favs on that album so I'm sad it's not on streaming platforms. edit here is also a link to a short performance on for the song but it was unfortunately without The8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bvu1VUzivn4&list=RDBvu1VUzivn4&start_radio=1

O

Smile flower is still one of my most favourite songs to date. Just something really raw in its emotions always draws me in. If there's whistling in a seventeen track more likely than not its recorded by Seungkwan. & he's really good at it!! His recent live - Whistling to Hann by g-idle - https://www.youtube.com/shorts/PlRkUgDWkiU
