BACK WITH ANOTHER WANTEEZ.

In fact, back with the final part of The Hunt 2, and probably the last of the series altogether....or is it? :D

I remember way back when we heard the news of Wanteez coming back and watched the trailer for The Hunt....and we were both skeptical about it and kept it at arm's length.

After all, this was the first long form Wanteez content of this nature, and like we briefly talked about in the previous episode (and in this one as well), serious eps could be a hit or a miss, esp for us. The more serious and scary they try to take the show without it being a simple chase game (which has problems of its own), the more likely it'll come across as cringe just because we speak fluent Korean and because it's not an actual film. So either they make it ridiculously scary that they genuinely just feel threatened, even though they know it's fake, OR it just becomes clear that they're part of the act.

And that's why, I think for us esp., we enjoyed that this became an escape room scenario because then they're free of such responsibilities and we also don't have to feel cringe XD

THE POINT IS, we LOVED it and we hope that they'll come back bigger and scarier :D (if you're into this genre, Agents of Mystery on Netflix featuring Karina of Aespa as well as John Park is the pinnacle of escape room TV show so check that out!)

So, as always, we'll continue the convo in the comment section, and please let us know what we should react to next :)

Enjoy <3

Ok, back with more thoughts since we've wrapped up this second Hunt section and I refreshed my memory rewatching this part with you. I think I've (mostly) worked out why this concept didn't really work for me, and I think a lot of if comes down to what you were talking about at the end, of the chase game vs. escape room angle. I love both of those as separate concepts, and have watched content from other groups that I thought did those concepts really well, and even some that blended the two together in a compelling, engaging way. I think with these Hunt episodes, despite it seeming to be more escape room focused, because they developed the whole storyline, including inserting the members as characters, and introducing other supporting actors to try and sell the story as well, I wanted to feel immersed in that story/universe but then the escape room elements pulled me out of that immersion. In order to keep that immersion, I think there needed to be chase game elements/stakes of some kind. This is where I'm unsure if there was intent behind the zombies/test subjects to add a level of tension/danger, because to me it felt like there was zero risk of the members being caught (which I get wasn't the point of the episode), so that again took away from the immersion and tension of the episode. Pretty much, instead of just enjoying the members solving puzzles, or being immersed in the atmosphere and plot, I feel like I spent more of the episode being confused about what the intent/goal was, and the different elements put together just didn't read cohesively to me as a final product. As for how to proceed with Wanteez/other content, if it's just a matter of moving Wanteez to a different day but still watching at least one episode per week, whatever works best for you guys is good! You're not super behind on Wanteez episodes though, so if you do watch any of the 2-parters in one sitting, you'll be caught up sooner rather than later, in which case you could probably even alternate Wanteez with Wooyoung and San's videos. Not sure if that's helpful in anyway, haha you really can't go wrong watching either show and I have no doubt you'll get to everything so I'm just here to enjoy whatever comes next!

I loved The Hunt so much :) I just love seeing them solving puzzles, working together, and when there's some tension added through the surroundings? Even better :) So the next episodes are like this: 51 - one part 52-53 - 2parter (ca. 1h combined) 54 - one part 55-56 - 2 parter (ca. 1h combined) So you could definitely watch the 2 parters in one video. Would be awesome if you could squeeze in the Woosan content in between 🥹🙏🏼

I'm fine with either the Woosan new episode or the Wanteez episodes 🥰 this was so fun!! I love y'all's commentary as it progresses and the way you figured the puzzle out before Jongho even broke the red statue ("above the sky" being above the word 'sky') AND now it makes me giggle any time Yeosang magically produces a snack like he somehow has one in every pocket... can't wait for you guys to watch the upcoming episodes 🩷

minya

Ooh, maybe they could combine watching episodes 51 and 54? But after watching episodes 52-53, I think... Woosan content in between, FOR SURE. 🥹🤝🩷

The fact that you even suggested de-prioitizing WANTEEZ again is blowing my mind. This is what I want to see - along with ENOuGH.

i'm a bit confused by this comment, wanteez episodes don't really have a set "goal" it's simply all just for entertainment. i also don't get why them having to solve puzzles ruined the story for you, because it's similar to the concept of a video game, you get the story as a general narrative and exposition on the world building, and then you're tasked to solve puzzles in order to progress the story/game, same as D&D as well, there's a narrator that's narrating a story which you're immersed into and play a character in, but every once in a while they stop the narration to ask you to do a skill check. i don't know maybe i don't understand because i personally don't think too deeply of kpop variety, so i'm not gonna hold the writers of wanteez to a higher standard as if they were writers for an actual sci-fi show and be disappointed at them for not keeping a serious atmosphere, it is at the end of the day just a story they invented where ateez get to play the main characters for atinys' enjoyment. if you really can't get behind the pausing of the narrative every couple of minutes to solve puzzles, like i said just think of it as a video game instead of a movie/show.

I agree with val that the Hunt series was more like a video game than a movie/show, where we are provided a narrative and characters and there's only one goal, escape or 💀 . I don't believe the Wanteez staff wanted to make this so immersive that we would think there was any real risk. Because if they're caught, the game is over, the show ends. They were always going to escape. I would say the real intent was the escape game and the tension for the members in these situations. But again, yes, there's no true risk, likely for safety concerns and the game would be over. I think the very first Wanteez episodes might be the scenario you were thinking of. I feel like it fits better as a movie/show concept with its characters and story, as well as some risk.

I loved the Hunt series though it did hurt my heart a little to see Seonghwa so scared. He said these were just a lot more immersive than the first episodes, and we can see that with how often he said he was dizzy and just needing a few minutes to breathe. I could definitely see them doing another season, but at the same time, if this was the last, I would be fine with that too. But if they did another season, I hope they give Seonghwa enough time in between filming 😂🥲 Jongho saying that all they had to do was crack the bust open cracks me up every time! Like sir, no, you were supposed to use the clues to lead you to the answer 😂 As they say, luck is also a skill, and he's very lucky lol. And as much as he is lucky, he's also a menace. Not only trying to scare his hyungs and Atiny, but also leaving San alone in that creepy basement. One day they're gonna get some insects in front of him so he can be scared for a second 😂

I wouldn't mind Wanteez and Woosan content being alternated, but maybe on a different day, if possible. The next Wanteez episode is not a 2-parter. I'd love it if you guys checked out the BST Hyde Park behind. https://youtu.be/YdEEVxPIciE?si=orDiJmQZboiInY5i Plus, there's still the behinds for the members' solos from IYF that we could check out 😊

San was actually really scared while filming this. He said that he’s the type of person to get quiet and be serious when he’s stressed out. Throughout these two episodes, he was hunched over and had his body lowered. I agree his eyes were a lot wider and scanning every area. I think it was either San or Hongjoong that said the PD team thought of all the scenarios of how ATEEZ would react, but ATEEZ still managed to surprise them. I think one scenario was San restraining the zombie through suffocation and Jongho just breaking the bust open. 😅 Jongho was also the only member that had a phone with the production team. So the production team probably told him to switch rooms with Mingi and Seonghwa so they can go into the room with the three zombies. They also told him to separate from San so he can go on his own. I think they really wanted to see him be scared, but he did great and stayed calm the whole time. I think we should rotate between Woosan and Wanteez. Wanteez is has 4 episodes that can be watched as a pair. Wanteez can fill in the week that Woosan isn’t airing. Woosan also has maybe 5 episodes left bc idk what happens after the 9th episode. 😭

Yes please! Keep going with Wanteez 😁 and Woosan too of course, but since that it's every two weeks there's less to catch up with

I love these escape room episodes!! I agree that it can sometimes be cringe if it gets too serious, but this wasn’t that. It’s so enjoyable as a viewer. I’m ok with either woosan or wanteez. If you ever feel like watching a one and off thing, there’s always Ssap dance https://youtu.be/ML56yRwFBm0?is=BlP-L93dKZwtLyyG

Oooh interesting take. I think I got what you're saying tho!! Like it felt a bit too lost in what it wants to be perhaps :D that they didn't really fully commit to one thing. I think the difference in perception would come down to what you see as an "escape room" feel, because to me that exact thing you described as not cohesive WAS the "coherent" escape room feel XD which I guess in one way speaks of escape rooms in general and how it becomes a risky thing to turn it into a thing you watch others do instead of participating yourself. But yeh, even as someone who enjoyed the format, I still got a similar read here and there as you, so it certainly was a tough one to nail I'd say! Hopefully next ones will be even more polished and better, or should I say...hopefully we get a next one at all ...? :'D

FUN FACT!!! This building was also used as a filming location for one of my favorite episode of GOING SEVENTEEN. I cant`t wait to see your reaction :> And of course, thank you for this video ;3
