WHAT IS GOING ON.

THIS WAS INCREDIBLE.

HIP HOP UNIT. GUYS. WHAT THE F IS UP. THIS WAS BEAUTIFUL.

(Also, shoutout to Woozi AGAIN for his incredible vocal in this album)

(Oh and for staying composed on the merry go round XDXDXDXD)

But yeh, seriously, you guys told us that nothing's gon come even close to the shock that was Good to Me.....and voila. While we won't say it was better than Good to Me, it was just as shocking. Just as hype. Just as impressive.

Loving this album. LOVING it (when did we ever not).

And don't even get us started one the unit switch version cuz DANG.

We want to share more snippets of our SVT reactions on YT for other Carats to see, so please share great links for the next track, Chilli, as well :):)

ENJOY <3

I am SOOO glad D'some knew about Woozi was on the wrong horse, because that shit is hilarious! I still laugh my ass off everytime I see this. Poor Uji! But still funny asf, he just looks so cute coming in on his horsey! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Vocal team: Mianhajima🥰🫂💕 HipHop team: MianhajiMA!!😈🤘💥

Thank you guys😊 You should definitely check out *Inside Seventeen* sometime, specifically their preparations for Caratland. It's a pity that the performance didn't include Wonwoo singing at the full range of his voice.

In isolation, every song from this album is awesome. But when asked what shines, I'll always aay Good To Me and Getting Closer. Since we're in isolation now, I'll say this: I never once skip Hug when it comes on. One electric guitar and a chance to flex vocals from the vocal unit? SIGN ME UP. And Woozi obviously never misses with the lyrics. He's such a warm person, it really shows in the words he writes. Next up we have CHILI! To me Chili is kind of like Check In, so maybe you'll see what I mean if you keep it in mind while listening to the song. But to do that you need LINKS: Lyrics video: https://youtu.be/bohLcvzCx-E?si=yPXpbq16ZS2_brXV Ode To You Japan: https://youtu.be/M3crDLspdtY?si=9hcaA0j1vc8DWRdm Unfortunately not a lot of links because as we get to the COVID era of songs there were less opportunities to perform the songs that came out, and then by the time they got out of the quarantine ban there were way too many new songs to really give a chance for the old songs. But still a good performance from Ode To You!!!

Trust Woozi to make a song yet again that embodies its very title. It's simple; no embellishments, dramatic changes, switch-ups, like an actual hug that's soft, warm and comforting. Hug is very beautiful but it's unfortunately not in my top vocal unit songs :(( But!! I'm really happy to hear the Woozi appreciation in this song and the album so far. I love his voice so much; to me he's like the backbone of the singing of the VCU (if that makes sense 🥹) And yes, he was sitting on the wrong horse and I think there's a fancam or clip somewhere of the rest of SVT laughing about it 😂 Now the hiphop unit switch!!!!!!! WOW, just when you can see a switch up coming, it's never really what you expect. I'm so sorry too Woozi, I like the HHU version just a bit more because I'm so biased 😭😭 Rewatching this made me realize that some of my favorite vocal tones in SVT are actually in the hiphop unit. Just wait until you hear their song 'I can't run away' later on in the discography marathon or hear how THE KIM MINGYU sounds on the Face the Sun Album. And don't get me started on Vernon and rock songs. Speaking of HHU, here's Chilli from Ode to You Japan😎: https://youtu.be/M3crDLspdtY . Right now I still can't decide if my favorite unit track from this album is Chilli or Shhh Now that you also mention coming back to the songs later on or checking out the "making of" videos, I'm really curious what your top picks of this album will be! And if you have any thoughts about it as a "sibling" album to YMMDay? Or which vibe you liked better between YMMDay and YMMDawn albums 😁

HUG. Such an amazing vocal unit track (I mean, in my books pretty much all of the vocal unit tracks are top tier so no surprise there, it would be much quicker to list the vocal unit tracks I don't consider 100/10!) This is one of my ultimate cozy comfort songs, it gets a lot of play for me especially in the colder months, but I will also never skip this song if it comes up. Woozi's voice always stands out to me, and this track was no exception but I also thought they all did an amazing job of blending and sounding cohesive to keep the soothing tone of the song from start to end. Now, I've definitely seen the hip hop unit performance before, but managed to completely forget that they go into a rock ver, so that was a nice surprise XD. I need a full, official HHU rock version of Hug to be made immediately though! I was so interested to hear who stood out for you, because to me it was S. Coups and Wonwoo. Not necessarily that they sounded better (they all sounded so good, in both the first part and the second, I always love when we get to hear more of the hip hop unit singing), but more that I felt like I kept wanting to hear more of S. Coups and Wonwoo vs the other two, if that makes sense? Special shoutout to Golden Disc for a nice, not abrupt cut to the video! I feel like it's a rare occasion where we don't have any rude endings to live performance clips, so it deserves at least a mention.

I love Hug :) I am a vocal unit biased in SVT, such a good song, though that stage was iconic for the whole carousel disaster and members trying not to laugh I hope we will have more chances to revisit this song more calmly, maybe if/when you will be reacting to their concerts ^^ HipHop unit consists of ballad (Scoups and Wonwoo) lovers mostly, so they always do extra justice to vocal unit covers. Mingyu's falsetto is my favourite ❤️

ros

Well, just some fyi if it makes things crazier… Hug (hiphop unit ver) and Moonwalker (vocal unit ver) are both for Caratland 2020. Like, imagine 🤯

Eiyel

i love how the lyrics suit very best for the rock version too, sometimes we do need some hard love 😆❤️

Caia Dawn

Ohhhhh. Hug😭 This is my comfort song. Whenever i feel down or needed a good cry, i always listen to this song. Its not as grand as other vocal unit track but this one is my favorite. And yes! Im glad you checked out the hhu version. I maybe bias but i choose wonwoo. I really love his tone in the first part and even more on the rock part.

캐럿입니다 💎

they should start watching Caratland one by one!!!!!!!! It would be fun!!!

캐럿입니다 💎

You guys should definetly start watching Caratland one by one It would be sooo fun! I think this is the best time to slowly get into that and maybe even concerts!!!

carat sebongie

This is one of the very first songs I understood without looking up the translations, the words were so simple, so straightforward, there is no hiding the meaning of it. I understood enough korean to get more than just a gist of the song and I was in love. I remember waiting to listen to it after my shift, lying down and letting the words and sounds wash over me, just letting go and finding comfort. It was one of the most peaceful moments, I literally felt like I was hugged after that first listen. This song will always hold a very special place in me. This is my song, I am claiming it. And the HHU version omg I watched it live and I was completely hysterical. The twist is the twist, no one expected it and that is what makes seventeen SEVENTEEN. Highly recommend the inside seventeen behind the scenes recording. As for Chilli and Shhh, I am looking forward to your reaction to those as well.

Lulu

YESSS HHU COVER!!

gyuzii

haha I feel like people don’t consider it when it comes to seventeen but they actually do SO WELL with the rock genre. Like so many members actually have a really good vocal tone for it (I agree Vernon is a stand out for songs like these). They don’t have a lot of songs/arrangements that have the rock sound but when they do, it’s ALWAYS like 10/10 for me. It’s so good. I feel like in general, Vernon has really underrated vocals. His tone is so..specific? idk but it always stands out to me when he sings

Mi

Just in case you didn't realize: In the lyrics video your videos are in front of the lyrics, so we can't see them. I feel like this wasn't your plan.

MattyIsWhimsical

I always forget that Wonwoo and Seungcheol started out training as vocalists and got moved to rapping. I love it when they flex their vocals. Hug is my comfort song. It shows up on my Spotify top songs every year.

Handsome Sausages

YUP that was an error on our end XD Sorry :'D Just a one time thing!

Maki

When you have time I want you guys to check Vernon's solo "Black Eye" in 2022 which reminds me of The Cure. I still love that song, there is an official MV on Youtube:)

Jill Estrada

And this is why Carats are Carats🩷🩵 the albums just keep getting better and better!!!!

What I love about SVT is how everyone has beautiful and unique vocal tones and that's why I love when they all sing ballads. It actually makes me excited when SVT does any genre because they always deliver. Woozi's lyrics are so honest and heart-wrenching and I love how the vocal team are so good and established that they don't always need to belt or show off when the song doesn't call for it. They're so good at expressing emotions with their delivery and voices. At the GDA, a GOT7 fan recorded the GOT7 members legitimately tearing up and getting emotionally immersed during Hug and behind them, you can see SVT laughing because of Woozi. It's an amazing scene XD. It's hard to pick which HHU member stood out for me in this song because they all sounded so sweet and earnest (and ofc cool and badass at the end), but I have to pick my bias S.Coups because one of the things I love about his voice is the dramatic contrast between his deep, growling, aggressive tone and his sweet, high and clear tone that almost sounds like two different people and in the HHU Hug cover, we literally get both in one song, which I love. Also, my inner child, or more specifically, my inner early 2000's middle-schooler self would be so happy if the HHU (especially S.Coups and Wonwoo) ever did a Linkin Park-style screamo rock song.

Mikayla

Ahh, I love Hug. There's just something about it. I think it's still one of my favourite vocal unit tracks. It's actually one of the first songs to get more interested in learning Korean. I loved the melody so much that I just couldn't imagine not singing along and so immediately looked up how to pronounce the lyrics and everything! I also just love it because the massaging is just so simple and comforting; even with very little Korean knowledge, you understand what they're trying to say to you. I personally always thought this song was at least partially a message to Carats, but I could be wrong On the other hand, the HHU version is just something else. Vernon is always a standout when it comes to rockier stuff; I think it just fits him so well. But they honestly all did a mazing job. That's why I love Caratland; anything can happen. I genuinely think some of the most iconic SVT performances come out of Caratland

Fay

The recording behind of this was so funny😭😭

VeeMango

I heard that the HHU cover of Hug was a rock ver. but I've never seen the full thing until now so I'm so glad I got watch it with you guys!! As someone who wants to hear the HHU sing more, I love when they cover the other units, and of course, their own vocal song (I can't run away), but thats waaaay later 😆.

봉별 ✨🏐

You guys should definitely check out Inside Seventeen to see how they prepare their caratland reverse stages, album preparations, and concert/event behinds! You can definitely see how much they love their job in those videos lololol

Shattermirror

Hug is one of my ultimate comfort songs, SVT or not, and for the HHU I got bias wrecked SO hard by Mr Kim Mingyu in both the original tone and the rock vers. lmao

Priyanka Banerjee

Aaah hug. It’s one of my fav vocal unit songs cuz I listen to it a lot when I need comfort! Aaah love the song. And for hhu maybe I’m biased but I love wonu ans also coups but even Mingyu and Vernon were amazing. I’m also glad d-some know about woozi and the wrong horse. Haha so funny. But yes an amazing soooonggggg

Cielo Eunice

Oh my god, first time seeing the HipHop Unit version!!! that was hot

ddaddu

Can’t wait for you to get to the recording behind the scenes, they are soo hilarious😂
