Bar Update - Introducing Jake! (Patreon)

Hey everyone, Pegashis and Blacky here with some more exiting news around the bar!

Both the environment and the characters for it are starting to come together, and we’re very happy to share some more WIP sneak peeks with you!

A few fundamental things about the environment first:

The bar will be an add-on to the already existing RLD map. It’ll appear as a new room, similar to the two hotels we already have there, completing the RLD environment with this installment.

As you can see, the texture work has progressed significantly since our last showcase, and only the finishing touches remain.

Pegashis will be adding pictures of our team’s avatars to the walls (and replacing the existing placeholders where, for example, the Sky Temple or Nature environments can be seen here). In addition, a few more props will be placed around the map to give it a more natural and lively feel and we'll add a few more smaller designs on mesh basis here and there.

Meanwhile, Blacky is working on an entire set of characters revolving around the bar, starting this series off with our two servers: Delaney (whom we introduced last time) and now Jake, the nephew of the mysterious owner of the bar, who remains shrouded in the darkness of our character creator engine for a little while longer 😉 .

Jake is genuinely a nice guy - a true gentleman of modern times, if you will!

But beneath that charming exterior, he’s battling deep-seated anxiety.

He’s never been successful with girls — or rather, he always has been, but only as “the best buddy I ever had.”

Phrases like “Oh, you’re such a good friend...” or “You’re such a nice guy!” are all too familiar to him.

He’s spent his whole life stuck in the friendzone, never having experienced a real romantic relationship to this day.

As time went by, he gradually gave up on the idea of ever meeting someone who’d see him as more than just the best buddy.

Well, that was the case until now. Turns out, Delaney finds him really interesting on so many levels!

One day, she said something so unexpectedly funny that Jake couldn’t help but burst into a loud, uncontrollable hyena laugh - only to immediately clap his hands over his mouth in embarrassment.

But to Delaney, it was the best sound she had ever heard in her life. From that day on, she continued to come up with funny things in all sorts of ways, talking and joking with him, and doing everything she could just to hear that wonderful laugh again.

And with that a relationship based on very genuine interests for both sides just got started...
