After the captain had given orders to everyone else to start repairs. He looks to you and his first mate. 

“Take our newcomers and go scout this island. See if there is anything of note. Take Midget and a few days supplies”.

You look at your friends and murmur “midget?” a moment later and an oversized space hamster walks on deck with the first mate leading him off the boat. 

“Aye this be midget, he's small for a space hamster but earned his place aboard when he was able to help carry a great hoard back to the ship. And make no mistake, I would sacrifice you lot in a heart beat to bring midget back safely”.
