Important note regarding consecutive character suggestions (Patreon)

First of all, if you're a new member on Patreon and have no idea what this activity is about, please read here.

Alright! Here are the new characters added this month:

As you can see, this month has been absolutely wild 🤣 8 new characters added all at once! Even more than at the beginning, when there were barely any limitations. But that’s only natural, the Patreon has grown a lot, and I can see that those in the Spicy/Juicy Booba tiers are getting the hang of how this works now. I mean, 90% of the suggestions come from you guys, so it’s clear no one’s missing their shot 😆

Naturally, I’ve been thinking about ways to slightly nerf this reward, because I don’t think I can manage to draw more than 2 of these per month. So even if I keep going like this, the list will eventually get so long that the last ones would have to wait over a year. And I’m not sure that would be the best for everyone.

Here are some ideas I’ve been considering:

Increase the suggestion cooldown from 3 months to 4 for Juicy/Spicy Booba tiers

Maybe limit the number of monthly winners to just 3 characters? I’m not sure how I’d manage that though — what happens to someone who suggested their character correctly, but didn’t make the top 3?

(The one I find most viable) Pause the suggestion activity once the queue reaches 24 selected characters, and resume once we’re down to 10. During the pause, I could draw 4 characters a month instead of 2, which would help speed up the list significantly.

Let me know in the comments what you think of these options, or if you have any other ideas to make this activity more sustainable for everyone.

I really enjoy doing this because it lets me draw interesting characters that would probably never win the regular polls. So I’d rather not stop doing it. Plus, those of you who commission the alt versions of the drawings help make this worth it and sustainable without sacrifices.

I’m also leaving a link to a new Trello I made to keep track of character suggestions, how long they’ve been in the queue, and whether they’ve been suggested consecutively. It’ll be super useful for keeping everything organized and tracking your suggestion streaks.

The third or first options seem best to me. I agree that a monthly limit doesn't seem possible. I'm glad I discovered your Patreon when I did!

First of all, I did notice you put "16 17 18" twice Honestly, I think it would be fair to do option 3, but resume the list when this one is *all done*. And when you open it again, limit it to maybe 12 characters. You might not think it's fair to all of us, and I'm sure others would agree, but you do so much and try so hard to make everything balanced for us already. The last thing we would want is for you to overwork and overwhelm yourself, and you deserve a breather.

I had a feeling this was going to happen eventually. I do think a pause will help, so I support that idea. I might also suggest adding a bold text saying guaranteed drawings are paused so anybody who missed this post will be aware.

Agreed on option 3 of the ones listed. It seems the most fair without limiting slots for each tier and making people miss out. Alternatively you can keep a list (past 24) going of those that are still suggesting/subscribed and once the list reaches ~10 left, you can fill the list back up to 24.

I have suggestion i already know it be unpopular opinion how about do top tier do half year/ 6 months then other do year/12 months

Oh really? lol. Yeah, some fellow artists have told me the same thing, reopen it only when the list is completely cleared. My intention is to make people wait as little as possible, but honestly, that would be the best option. Thanks so much for your understanding. I’m really happy with the community that has formed here on Patreon. Fortunately, I have a great time drawing these beautiful waifus, but unfortunately, there’s just not enough time to do everything I’d like for you all. 😓

Of course, this was something I expected to happen eventually. It’s just that the growth of this Patreon has surpassed my expectations. I have fellow artists who’ve had their Patreons for years and still haven’t reached the number of supporters I have here, so I expected the same for mine. That’s why I initially designed the reward a bit tailored to what I thought I would have. But like I said before, I planned to adjust things over time to keep them balanced for everyone (: And yeah, I think I’ve decided I’ll definitely pause the activity until the list is cleared. I’ll add a big disclaimer to the suggestion post.

Talking with others and reading everyone’s suggestions in the comments tells me that pausing the list until it’s completely cleared sounds like a fair idea for everyone. But the idea of organizing a special suggestion session during the pause, exclusively for the top tiers, sounds like a great way to add more value to the higher tiers, like the $10 one, which currently isn’t much different from the $5 tier. 🤔

Well, that’s actually the most common thing among the few artists on Patreon who do this kind of activity. At the end of the day, one year of a $5 tier subscription is just $60, much cheaper than commissioning a piece directly. But I used to avoid doing that because I felt the wait time was too long, and not everyone would stay attached to the same character for a whole year. It’s natural that people’s tastes shift over time. But if Patreon keeps growing, I guess I’ll have to lean in that direction eventually. For now, I’d like to test the idea of pausing the list until it’s fully completed and then reopening it, while preserving everyone’s progress from before the pause.

I use the idea from another artist I follow/use did pay a year and get free commission and top be 2 free commission. So i kinda suggestion 6 month and year. For me suggestion character if doesn't win plan just commission.

That why start with unpopular opinion suggestion since that probably be best option. If there time list is small or empty do second suggestion vote or your characters you want draw poll do 2 instead one.
