In this episode, we take a deep dive into the Military Arms Corporation MAC 5, a semi-auto MP5 clone that changed my mind on the type. Years ago, I wasn’t impressed with the Century Arms AT-94, a rifle-length, wire-stocked variant that lacked the soul and handling of the real thing. But the MAC 5 changes that. With its shorter barrel, classic MP5 styling, and SB Tactical brace, this gun feels and runs like the subgun we all love… without the NFA pain or $3,000 price tag.

I describe the MP5 as “crack for gun guys” (like potato chips) in this review and the MAC 5 fits right into that addictive category. We will focus on 2nd Cool here. It’s smooth, controllable, reliable, and straight-up fun to shoot. It’s also a reminder that a well-built MP5 clone is like a good potato chip: once you pick it up, good luck putting it down. That analogy weaves through the whole video because it just fits: you tell yourself you don’t need it, but one mag in and you’re already hooked.

Whether you're a subgun enthusiast, a 9mm PCC fan, or just looking for a budget-friendly, high-performing MP5 stand-in, the MAC 5 seemed to deliver in my desert testing. It’s accurate, balanced, and solidly built. Just keep it lubed. So if you’ve been waiting for an MP5 experience without selling your truck to pay for it, this might be your answer. Bring your chips, boys...this one’s hard to resist.

MAC 5 MP5 Clone: You Won’t Stop at Just One (Mag, That Is)

This might be my first PCC.

Alright! What a great surprise in the content flow. I’ve been wanting something of this type. That or the CZ Skorpion Evo 3. Maybe do an ISSA vid on that Nutn? I don’t want another AR and I’m seeing the Springfield Kuna isn’t living up to the hype. But the roller delay blowback of an MP5 just works. Maybe put this up against the EVO? Just a video suggestion. Better recharge my chip bowel!

Tacticaldoodle

It would put me six to midnight if supps go non-NFA and you can get an MP5-SD of this. Holy cow

Jon

Thanks for all the work Nutn, The project is the best message on the internet

The Nutnfancy Project

Great to hear that. I happy to report in this video that with the MAC 5 I am on board with the MP5 clones. Really fun to shoot and capable. Just a bit heavier is all. I will try to get the Kuna and see what's up.

Tacticaldoodle

I just heard there's some bad news in the senate for it though, not sure if there's any pressure point for voters to push on to make sure it passes. Got to hope the GOP doesn't cuck out, and we have a shot of NFA-free living

Justin Wingerter

Wasnt expecting to see an mp5 review but looks like an amazing choice for a pcc!

Rick Grad

I could feel the excitement! Awesome review. If you want to get a new shooter hooked on firearms, let them shoot your PCC at steel plates for an afternoon:)

Rick Grad

This or the FN P90 for strictly fun and 2nd kinda cool?

scott pochini

Well over 1K rounds thru my Mac5 full size, all the welds look great and it’s holding up fantastic ran it for 750 rounds with no cleaning and that’s when I first started having issues, but it was so filthy. It was not even funny.

Andrettski

Always wanted one, a clone that is, but like what I hear about the Zenith. Maybe someday. This is 'like' a 10 round magazine, lol. Tim's Cascade potato chips are damn tasty. Also Kettle Brand are really good. Trader Joe's Dill pickle chips are fantastic.

Having shot an HK SP5 a while back and a full auto MP5SD clone at Battlefield Vegas recently, I'm happy to see an MP5 clone video here. Such a fun gun to shoot!

Bluegill097

First of all, this is one of the most fun GRV I’ve seen in a while! I definitely will be buying one of these clones for Christmas so I can watch Die Hard with my “mp5”. My question is do we think HK tooling/licensed AP5 is more 2nd cool? Or is the form factor with the MAC close enough that it doesn’t matter? Also, love the double analog watch show and tell. TNP going strong, love it.

JARMYSTRONG

Video just went to private.

Red dog 1

Video went private what the H?!

DudeDudeDude

You need to show the pearl snap shirt section at Gunnies. Maybe even do a bunker review wearing a pearl snap shirt.

Blizzak454

I went Scorpion forever ago as my PCC. Kinda want a sub2k, but otherwise dont feel the need for more PCC's.

Jarrod Hessel

I would like to see a review of the MAC 2 shotgun. Their Benelli M2 clone. I’ve seen a bunch of reviews of their M4 clone and they seem solid. But I’m more interested in the inertia driven model and nobody is talking about it. Street price is around $369.

The Nutnfancy Project

Thank you Bluegill. I would go with one of these or the Zenith. They will fulfill your MP5 itch and they look the same, function well. The AP5 imo is not worth the cost. Glad you like the watch show too, great to hear

The Nutnfancy Project

And there it is folks: another happy MAC5 user with rounds fired. Thank for that scott

The Nutnfancy Project

Great question. This MAC5 would be waaaay cheaper to shoot Rick but I do love that PS90 for sure, really a fun gun (other than the awful trigger!)

Peter Champlin

I have a supressed AP5 running subs with a red dot as my home defense gun.

Seeker Keyl

The caliber of that muzzle device does not seem like it's 9mm... More like a 556... Is it just me?

Bluegill097

Duly noted! Christmas can’t come soon enough
