Love the KRVs!! Almost bought one of these last month but couldn't justify 50 bones; maybe later. Still have my Sheffields and others...1st cool only though. Love my other Civivis, maybe a utility at some point soon.

I keep carrying my old Sheffield. I bought some new ones, that are a lot longer than the old one.

I do see the 1st cool value of these over the Sheffield, namely the longer exposed portion of the blade and the pocket clip - as mentioned in the KRV - so I decided to pick one up for when I determine a use-case that needs easy access rather than fishing around in my cargo pockets or the extra blade belly. A good example of this would be when wearing gloves on a ladder; clipping it in a convenient outside pocket would be better than taking off a glove and trying to fish it out of a deep pocket or bag that will probably have a bunch of other stuff as well. 90% of the time though I'll most likely just keep using the Sheffield.

The Elementum looks safer for aggressive cardboard cutting. I bought a Sheffield knockoff from eBay years ago. Got carried away with my cardboard activities. The thing snapped in half. Somehow I ended up with a savage gash in my index finger. May not have happened if I just used the original Sheffield but, I foolishly decided I wanted to keep it in mint condition. Why?? I don't know why. They stopped making them so they're collectible now...?

Its also 500% more expensive than the Sheffield - approaching "fear of loss" value. One of the features of the Sheffield is how inexpensive it is to replace. And IMO one WILL lose a knife that is used several times a day. Just buy 5 for the price of one civi.

Matthew Sinn

For sure, starting from zero.

I do wish the Sheffields had clips, and the flipper/button lock combo looks fun. May have to try one of these out. Love seeing the blade load out.

Steelhorses

Agreed! I would lose at least one a year, probably a couple. The Sheffield is just right.

That would make a great knife to keep on my fire gear for cutting seatbelts or wires when rescuing patients from car wrecks

I’ll pick one of these up and EDC it. I’ll let you know how it does.

Ready-or-Not

I agree. I switched to Milwaukee and haven’t looked back. I have the model with the Phillips and flathead screwdriver built into the handle - have used it countless times!

Hey Nutn just getting around to checking this krv out I went with the kizer dropbear utility bear 2 it’s splitting hairs on how close they are,, but better jimping and tweezers plus a tool/ toothpick to change out the blade built right into the scales that’s what sealed the deal for me
