The response to this question was strong with lots of great questions and situations. I only have time to go into some of them in this Part 1. If the views and comments rally then you'll see some more parts. Here I address: fighting burn out, is space exploration a waste or a good investment for the US [future of my EB story being posted here, looks iffy], how I don't believe in the Big Bang theory and similar nonsense, how our understanding of the Cosmos is infantile, some basic investment advice and encouraging you to strike the middle ground (certain fund discussed), and basic but necessary young man skills you should possess. The time will go quickly I assure you, let's get to it...

As always these Nutnfancy Philosophy videos are free of charge.

Can’t wait to listen to this one during my post-work run, appreciate you for addressing my question. I’ve been around on the channel since I was a teenager and these philosophy videos have had a tremendous impact on how I’ve built my value system and lived my life. Thanks for all you do, Nutn

Dude I'm SO GLAD you started TNP way back when you did. There's no way an identical channel could even exist nowadays. Youtube got so gay and retarded it's unbelievable. I appreciate all the years of hard work and TNP will live on forever because the actual underlying philosophy and logic will never die. Thank you

I've been advocating for a "how to journal" vid for years lol

Dave Ramsey is the best solution for those who want to get out of debt. I don't follow his investing strategies, but I do like using cash and credit cards. As I get older, I too realize that we only have so many good healthy years. Get out there and enjoy them. We should get all the toys we want, but I have set limits to borrowing money and the interest I'm paying to someone else. BTW sweet Mustang Nutn!

Throwing a baseball. Seems trite? In WW2 the US Army designed the T-13 frag grenade to be roughly the size of a baseball bc almost every young male knew how to throw a baseball. 100% agree Nutn. I played baseball, pitched through high school. It amazes me how few guys can throw anything.

Ditto on Dave Ramsey which is basically spend less than you make and invest the excess in something. Personally I have never bought toys or recreational anything on credit!!

Johnny

Me too. After I got out of debt, I just waited and saved up for the stuff I wanted. Paying interest on loans makes me so angry now.

Bravo

An hour long video!? YES Honestly, you put out a prodigious amount of content. The Clubhouse is worth every freaking dollar. Can’t find value like that anywhere else. Thanks for taking these on.

Bravo

Also what blasphemy is this that the EB posts are a ghost town!? I’ve loved every single one. Honestly it’s my favorite bed time reading right now. Don’t get discouraged. Keep going. I’m in it for the long haul.

The Nutnfancy Project

Thank you much. I work very hard providing value to my donors. I always want you guys to feel like you're getting a deal.

The Nutnfancy Project

Thanks and agree. That's a great example you bring up about the grenade throwing. The enemy will be pretty safe these days sadly.

Investing: pay 10% tithing to the Lord, then 10% to your retirement investments. 401k first if you have one - capture all the match available. Do the Roth option! I'm 58 and regretting that most of my retirement is in traditional balances. You can do an IRA after you capture any 401k match available. Set a budget and live within it. Get on the same page with your wife regarding finances if you are married. Europa Break: This isn't a sci fi story. It is an anti-tyranny/pro-freedom story in a sci fi context. Amazing so far!

Trustful Marksman

I'll second that. Been thinking about that a lot lately, I've tried to start a journal a couple times and never gotten anywhere.

Each generation has new challenges: I am the generation before you. Retired in 2002 after 22 years in the US Army as a 06. I grew up in rural Colorado. My father taught my brother and I hunting, fishing, camping, navigation, woodcraft skills. I could come home from school, grab my Daisy Red Ryder, walk out the front door and hunt birds in the wheat field.as I grew up the red Ryder moved to a Benjamin , marlin 39A and a 870. In the summer, grab my fishing pool and go fishing. What we killed or caught added to the dinner table. At 13 my father bought me a Honda 90 and the hook was set: for the rest of my working life, I rode a bike everyday to and from work. The 50 mile round trip releived the days stress. Unless it was opening day for dove and pheasant, Sunday morning was church: we would come home and mom would cook: lunch/supper was at two. If you got hungry later, my brother and I were on our own in the kitchen. Each hunting season, my dad bought each of us the first box of ammo. After that it was up to us. Shoveling snow neighborhood chores etc. NTP has no comparison: value content, honesty, life lessons, manyof your viewers have learned and grown with you- so take time and hug Mrs NurN, because our wife’s are the foundation. The only hard day was yesterday. AIRBORNE

Cuss a lot and enjoy it 😆

Years ago you mentioned color-coding your journal entries (green for a good day, etc.) to track success over time. I've searched everywhere but can't find that video and would love to rewatch it. I would love to see a full video on your journaling system. Specifically how you actually reference past entries later and how to use it for improvement, not just as a record.

Sorry for not commenting more on Europa Break. It's not for lack of interest. I read every installment and even made additional AI artwork based on the story. I've just held back so I don't come across like I'm giving unsolicited advice on your own work. I love the story very much.

Holly crap Nutn this message was awesome personally I needed to hear this. I've been struggling with feeling like I'm lacking raising my two boys. After seeing this I realized that I'm doing better than I've been giving myself credit for. I have two boys 8 & 14 and I do most of the activities with them that you mentioned. We go on family camping trips on the bank of a river with a small waterfall that you can swim in. Get this they're favorite part is fire craft they love batoning log's with the Rtak 2's. The last trip we went on as we were packing up the truck my youngest came up to me and asked. Hey dad did you remember to pack the Rtak I was stunned. I couldn't believe he remembered what the blade was and second it was important enough to him to ask about it lol. I've also been getting into keeping a journal everyday it's a new thing for me and I would appreciate some pointers on the subject. I've been doing it in the evening as im getting ready for bed I've found it helps me to reflect on the day and also to unwind. Lastly if you end up pulling EB from patreon please let us know because I will definitely continue following it. I love the story so far and I'm excited to see where it goes.

Sorry for repeated posts. 15 years ago I would get off weeks of double shifts crack a beer and binge TNP while I fiddled with the M9 on the couch. Now I watch them in bits and bobs as I do chores in the middle of the night after wife and newborn are in bed. Thanks for talking space. Had a feeling from EB that your life philosophy and excitement for space was taking shape there. Please keep on Patreon. Honestly, love guns and gear but I’ve been on the project for a long time sub’d on and off (more on than off I think) and this is new and fuckin’ cool. I feel like I’ve said this several times now and I’ll keep saying it. Would buy EB merch. From what you’ve posted I see so much potential. Yes on astronomy and journaling. Never saw the night sky until backpacking through the Pyrenees. Holy shit. Brings the reality of God’s creation into a whole different focus. I do a ton of writing but it’s kits and planning and travel and projects and side schemes… shelves full of notebooks. I realized you can read that stuff and understand what was going on in my day to day but I always struggled maintaining a regular journal. Laughed at teaching kids basic sports. My dad did a lot of the stuff you talked about (wouldn’t teach us how to turn a wrench for reasons that mystify me today). The most stressful part of being a new dad is knowing I will have to go throw a catch some day soon. I can do it. Dad forced us to learn. It’s a skill that has saved me embarrassment in many situations over the years. And I hated every minute of it. Still do to this day. I hate throwing a ball. I find sports to be boring and unpleasant and I am in OK shape. Even when I had to play with friends or acquaintances or in college or on trips or when some half drunk buddy found a football sitting in the street as we were out. Gosh I hate it. It is pretty much the only activity in life I can name that I hate. But agree it’s a skill that needs to be taught. Oh man I am not excited… Learned pretty much all my wilderness/first aid/adventure skills from the project. My dad was military and did SERE and all that and just refused to integrate that as part of our childhood. I have no idea why. To this day he kind of blows it all off. Kind of a “what would you even do with this knowledge if I gave it to you?” When we started backpacking it turned out he’d done a ton of trips out in the Appalachians as a kid. I was like “dad wtf why did you never teach us any of this?” His response was “you can’t reasonably survive in the wilderness without all this gear. Why would you want to know? It’s sweaty and tiring and you should be empire building or… trimming your toenails or doing something productive with your time.” He focused on a lot of stuff you’ve talked about over the years but there were definitely skills he viewed as “old fashioned” he just kind of wouldn’t engage with. Appreciate perspective on home as a fortress. Agreed and our family is considering how we handle that going forward.

Love all of your philosophy videos and content. The longer the better.

Xlnt video! I’m enjoying the Europa Break content, and am stoked for the possibility of a full length project coming to fruition. I’m interested to know who else supports a crowd fund campaign.

Bill

Wherever this novel goes, I'm coming with it. New Patreon, different platform, doesn't matter. Sign me up.

Rookie Numbers

A journaling video please! I have started journaling about fun events and memories I don’t want to forget but I know my journaling could be much more in-depth. I’d love you hear your approach😎

Nutn is right about the ETF investment funds being the painless choice. Low fees and investments mirroring the S&P, NASDAQ, Treasury bonds etc. Some examples are BND, DGRO, ITOT, QQQ, VT, VTI, VTV, VVG, VXUS (ticker symbols). There are some redundancies, and more tickers, but this is a good representative of the investment choices. Go to Yahoo Finance and enter those in the search box to learn what their investment focus is. These all pay dividends giving you a second investment gain along with capital appreciation. These are invest, forget, and enjoy the power of compounding.
