TacticalDoodle and I tabletop a late-to-the-game Savage 1911. We kid around like we're in 2013 (Project 7 years old that time!). We speak of the also competent Ruger SR1911 and then at the end show you our (my) all time fave 1911. We'll cover the build and Savage's forged approach to most components which will make many happy. The desert testing started off a bit rough but the gun improved to 100% later. And although we'll say no new ground is broken with the Savage 1911, it's good to see them in the mix.

And for those of you who have more interests than just guns, we'll discuss briefly the incredible plywood RAF Mosquito night fighter and some other cool stuff after the gun review.

Competently Savage: Their 1911

This is great I love 1911’s and love to see the popularity and new ones coming out

Hey Nutn I'm not sure what happened but you're review of the KTM 1290 on the B channel is jacked. The audio is completely blank the whole video is like that it's like static and wind noise. Figured I'd try to bring it to your attention in case you didn't know.

Stuart

If it's 2013 I want a feature length, 45 minute minimum video!

Mudtoa

1911 is on my list, just have not gotten one yet

JFire

I love 1911s so I’m glad to see another in for review! It seems like a good minute since the last one. And back in 2013 I was an enlisted Airman in New Mexico and just getting into guns. The first gun I wanted was a 1911. If I could go back, I would have gotten one instead of my XDs 45.

JFire

I second this!

Mike S

I forgot that Savage even made a 1911. New styling with old features seem to be this pistol's game here.

Great comment, thanks JFire, glad there's still enthusiasm for the type, I will do more

Not excited about the Savage. Yes looks like a good gun and appreciate you going through it but if you’re gonna buy a 19-freaking-11… DUDE. THAT GOLD CUP! I bought an S&W 629-1 last year and spending $1,000 on a pistol scarred me. Don’t regret the purchase. Rather… With constant pressure from regulators it’s hard to justify buying something like this on limited budget when it feels like the pressure is on. For the same price I could replace the Glock I lost in last year’s boating accident, get a second carrier + L4 plates, a weapon light, and still have money for beer on the way home. I want to make the commitment. But I just love beer so much. I partially live vicariously through your bougie gun reviews and think what would be possible with time and money.

2013?! Hey guys, be careful, in 2020 we gonna get told some Chinese person ate batt butthole soup or something in a wet market then they are gonna call it Covid and make most people take a shot or two or five. And trump will become president and betray the country.

I figured out what was wrong with that video there are two different audio settings. If the English one is selected there is no audio. You have to select the Russian track it's super weird but it works. BTW I'm strongly considering selling my 2015 Super Tenere and replacing it with a 1290 S model

Love all the GRVs recently!

kylenor

I love a good 1911. I actually have a few myself and have shot a ton of different models. My favorite being the Magnum Research 1911 5" in .45. One of the smoothest actions out of box and feels better than some of the $2k plus 1911's I've shot. Thanks for the GRV

Nutn, I got a Walther Hammerli 1911 .22lr. it has 2 525rnd boxes of federal bulk and of course some cci stuff.. ZERO MALFUNCTIONS! I've never seen a 22lr so reliable. It's very accurate. If you get a chance to review one (maybe you already have) it's awesome!

Andrettski

Who knew, the Wolverine is also a time machine, I need to get one of those.

Austin

Would you buy the Kel Tec PLR 22 or CP33? Both suppressed. POU is neighborhood critter dispatching

pinkiewerewolf

I had an Sig 1911. It was a great looking firearm (IMO) but the series 80 trigger was its weak spot. I sold it and just picked up a SA Mil-Spec for the series 70 trigger. it's been 100% reliable. I like the looks of the Savage 1911, but I'm kinda set with one 1911.

Mike

Okay, “The piss boy” was magic had me laughing so much had to rewind it twice. . TD is on point as always. The gold cup is exceptional just like the content. Cheers gents.

Yep; Ed Brown Cobra Carry. Boom-boom!
