It seems in some quarters this Sphinx is highly touted.  We admit we were initially smitten by its different CZ75 interpretative looks.  But infatuation was short lived. Taken on many outings in TNP the Sphinx was an unreliable performer.  Moreover its heft, expense, poor CreaKote finishing on the gun, and its multiple jams turned us off.  All crew said no thank you to the Sphinx in the end.  There are just too many other truly excellent guns.

Thanks to Gunnies Sporting Goods in Orem, UT ph (801) 226-7080 for the items sometimes provided to TNP for review.  Look up gunnies online, say thanks!

Sphinx SDP 9mm: Uh No Thanks

Had an idea idk if it would be viable but it would be cool if you started a fund to buy a piece of desert land in Utah to make a range all donated by Patreon and YouTube for fans and members to come shoot and do drills with the charming nutnfancy 🤔 like if you would donate

Pedro

Great vid, pacing was perfect at 1x speed, content on point, Banter on a new level especially Tac D. Sucks about reliability.

Rob B

Looks like a CZ75 & a Sig P320 had an exceptionally ugly baby then sent it to GSG for reliability assurance. Garbage.

Just when I’m about to get really annoyed by Swedish chef... “I put a primer on a tootsie roll” lol nice

Anotsu01

The like is for the humour not the gun, it’s one ugly spud

I owned one of the older Sphinx pistols a few years ago. I was kind of mixed. I liked the gun when I took it to the range, but when I carried it. It was a no go and I sold it. I always find myself grabbing either my Glock 48 or my Sig 365XL.

A Random Walk

Every time I get the urge to buy a 9 I ask the same questions. If an initial lower cost and/or comfort isn’t part of the equation then why spend more money on yet another dozen magazines (gotta segregate and keep track of them too) and then spend what little range time I do get messing with it? Why do I need this over just getting another Glock? Makes no sense to me unless as an investment for the kids. However, I will say I have a soft spot for stupid revolvers so I’m a little bit of hypocrite. :-)

Racing Psychosis

Holy clunky looking paperweight pistol. No interest in that. Happy 4th.

"Why do I need this over just getting another Glock? Makes no sense to me unless as an investment for the kids." That is exactly what TD always says. I have a hard time motivating him to shoot these guns...seriously. He says what's the point, Glock and ARs do it so well.

ColdPizzaChris

Ok, TD got me with the tootsie roll “sling fudge” comments.

The Polymer80 G19 I built out of bargain, on sale parts is more reliable and lighter!

Even if the price were right, I think it's kind of ugly. The CZ you have is gorgeous. I'd much rather have that one. (I was calling this thing a sphincter when it first came out as well)

Aaron Martin

looks good err ok, performs like a turd, costs way too much. No thanks.

Matthew Sinn

Nutn and Doodle doing yeoman's work.

Wouldn't want the weight in that form factor, but I do carry a full-size that weighs the same (92FS), and I like the 92X Performance so much I'm considering carrying that, and it's 48 oz. But it doesn't feel much different than carrying the FS, it checks some 2nd cool boxes for me, and the trigger is pretty nice, but mine came from Langdon Tactical with a trigger job, so even a bit better (2.5 lbs SA, 5 lbs DA).

My aircraft favorites - F-14, A-10, P-38, AH-1. I just like them. And I am still bummed the Army didn't field the Comanche.

Greg Malcom

Helpful review that bolsters my gratefulness for my simple, ugly but ultra reliable Glock.

Ol Retired Fed

The Kriss website lists it at $1000 today. Looking at the barrel in your video and on the website, it does not appear to be crowned. For that kind of money for a "precision" gun, I would expect a barrel crown. Otherwise, I'm still not impressed. Buy a CZ instead.

Racing Psychosis

Not into carrying things that heavy IWB concealed. Open around the ranch or while hunting, I'll strap on a Ruger Blackhawk or GP100.

Nathan Simms aka Darkpriest

It's just not a 1000 dollar gun. Maybe in the COVID19 shortage it is, but in a normal market it's a 650 dollar gun.

Sean

Nothing better than listening to TD just crap all over something

Nancy Merrell-Robertson

Tactical Doodle has that voice DOWN. I always wonder if that's a real person trying to sound like a robot, or an actual robot.

Mike S

Hopefully I'm not sounding like a nitpicker. But the CZ-75 frame is cast, not forged.

Guy Actual

No thanks, Ill keep my P01 omega. don't need to pay twice the price. All guns look the same when their pointed at you. ;)

Michael B warner

Yah it's definitely interesting but for me the weight and the price are turn off's. I'm totally satisfied with my TP9SF thank's for another fun bunker review. The swedish shef was on point today 🤣

Mike S

After seeing this review, this makes me happy I picked up a standard CZ-75B and not this gun. Why get a newer clone when you can get the original gun for half the price and when the original pistol has a long track record?

Anthony Schaad

Yep, just by it’s looks I was kinda iffy. Think I’ll just save some dough, as always thanks for a great review n keeping it real !

Jonathan Simon

We have a pretty large gun trading forum here in GA. I see these guns pop up here and there, and the only "itch relief" I see them providing is for people that are temporarily bored by their Glock's and Sig's. Fast forward a few range visits later the gun is relisted with the inevitable phrase "well my Glock/Sig never had those issues..." It's a novelty item, hence the futuristic looking "lipstick on a pig" look they give these guns. I never hear about 1st time shooters buying these. Nutn - you should create a new category called "I'm bored with my Glock and had a bad idea"

Foghorn

ROFLMAO!!! I put a primer in a tootsie roll and it launched that mofo.... I think I just peed myself..

Patrick O'Rourke

Agreed. I have been carrying my XL for couple of months now. Maybe 6 or 7 hundred rounds. Really like it. Still love my 19 though.

The Nutnfancy Project

I have thought about that. I am uneasy of where this country is heading for politics and politics is guns. If the Commies win in Nov this gun review thing for me and many others will be shutdown in short order but the Commies!
