Colt King Cobra

Comments

Zach

Always been intrigued by the snakes but find myself owning the s&w’s.

Aceman1126

Nice! So glad I got my 90s era king cobra 6" when I did. Bought it 2 weeks after I found out we were having a baby boy. That's one gun I bought specifically for him when he's older

Gilbert Cuzdey Jr

The 3 barrel cannon gave it away..the Cobra. If I was smart I would have taken the title as a hint lol.

Bluegill097

Heck yes! Thanks for this Nutn, can’t wait to watch the vid at lunch. I was hoping you’d do one on the new colts !

David and Elizabeth

'Bout time, Colt! 👏 With modern production advancements now essentially eliminating the need for hand fitting, there's no reason not to bring back the classics consumers have so much demanded. As long as the quality is there, they will almost certainly become cash cows! We hope Colt learns from the past and doesn't continue to rest on their laurels moving forward. Hopefully they can bring back other classics and use the success to invest in future development and technology. Best of luck, Colt! 👨‍👩‍👧❤

F to the yeah! -Cheesewell

Jared Strawn

I love the gun, just not the cylinder release

SMitchell

Is this comparable to the S&W 686? My family had one in the 90's, what a soft shooting 357 mag.

Red dog 1

Love me some wheel guns! Tell doodle that if he ate his bacon he would be big enough to edc that wheel gun.

Todd Strelka

Nice gun. Fun fact: A buddy of mine in Maine has a 1978 Mustang II King Cobra. It's badass. If I remember correctly, I shot that burnt bronze GP 100 a few years ago. Thanks , Tactical Doodle!

Charles New

Love my python silver snake edition. , but i do shoot my s&w 686 more often. great review.

joseph vallone

The Snakes look nice, but my s&w performance center 686 just gets it done. Like Armando's stiletto.., it delivers.

Schmuckatelli

First of all...love the intro. I spent some time in the airwing despite my non-related MOS (I was a grunt then lat moved to be a data dink). Secondly, I am one of the poor bastards that paid out the nose for an 80s era nickel plated Python just before they re-released the model last year at about half the price I paid for mine. Still love it, though. While it's one of the most expensive firearms I own, the quality is reflective of that price point.

Andrettski

One of my bucket list dream guns with cool factor to the enth degree. I've always thought about getting a revolver someday but don't think I'd ever spend $1000-1500 for one, maybe a S&W or Ruger? Thanks for the GRV

Andrettski

But if TD ate more pork products he'd be having a lot more windage issues

Lead Kisses

I picked up one of these and was slightly underwhelmed by the build quality, TBH. Still certainly great, but not as good as the original. So many people nauseatingly buy the Colt nostalgia it makes it hard for me to get excited about a lot of their products.

Red dog 1

Lol got me on that one.

Carl Bailey

Having spent years working on the AH-1, I have always wanted a Cobra. The birds I worked on were a better match for the revolver as they ran the six barrel mini-gun with the 40 mm grenade launcher. Six gun with a magnum on the side.

David Goodridge

Table top covered in Holy Grail revolvers.

Shawn Kuse

I carry my 686 2.5 inch 7 shot. Can't beat it for a revolver.

Patrick Richards

I bought a S&W trr8, the dreaded key hole lock froze up after 20 rounds. Had to have it removed, now it’s running good, but it is an eye sore looking at the hole! For me smith and Wesson has not stayed true to what they were. I love how Colt seems to be staying old school and keeping the quality there! “I like that 6” python, that’s what she said” hahaha

Kenny VanCleave

Love it. Always been into wheel guns. From the Colts to the S&W to the Rugers. If you call yourself a gun enthusiast and you don't own at least one wheel gun, shame on you.

Jacob Hurst

Nutn it’s time to bring back revolver porn!!!! Love the wheel guns and 357 gets it done. Not sure id buy a colt. My 586 gets the 2nd cool enough for me. Plus I’m not a fan of the reverse pull cylinder release from training so long on my smiths. Great video! But I still want that Model 60 Performance Center 3 inch review!

Michael Morris

I have a King Cobra, just passed it down to my Son a few weeks ago... I still have the receipt for it... bought it in 94 for $474 from a man who for many years held the record for the most rounds fired in a non-cop involved gunfight... Harry Beckwith... just google the Harry Beckwith incident, Ayoob did write-up on it back in the day. I knew Harry very well, I used to skip school back in the 70's and go hang out in the gun store with him for hours. Bought a number of firearms from him over the years... ran into him shortly before he died, and he recognized me and came over and talked to me for a while... he was a true American! We need more like him.

Racing Psychosis

Good review, nice looking piece. I'll stick to my Ruger's, but that is a sexy looking gun.

Tygre

All considerations weighed, and shootability being number one, the Smith & Wesson Model 28 Highway Patrolman in .357 is still my all-time favorite wheel gun of this type. If you can find a good 4 or 6 inch model, grab it while you can.

Lon N

Nice revolver, great GRV and "competitive options" choices. I don't own a .357, but one in particular is an object of my lust. My best friends widow owns his Colt Trooper Mk III, and she won't sell it. Damned fine machine, he could hit 2 liter jugs every time at a no bullshit 100 yards running his home-brewed loads. I want it..whine whine... whine.

Lon N

I know the name and faintly recall reading the story many years ago.

Mike R

I’m happy you were able to do this review and I hope you can do a python one as well. I’m glad that Colt has started making these guns again I always like them as a kid, but I was more into the autos vs the “old man” wheel guns. Now that I’m older I definitely appreciate these guns more, I want a python and hopefully they’ll start making Anacondas again I’d like one of those as well. Also I 100% agree they should do them in blue, thanks for the great review Nutn.

Robert Avery

Love when doodle is around for the review

Matthew Kale

I really like the Ruger revolvers, but I have an old S&W M10, the original M&P, and that is a nice gun.

Robert W Posey

I feel like if you get a King Cobra, you need a Honda Nighthawk and the flowing locks of your mullet sneaking out of the bottom of your helmet.

John Pope

I'm actually a mechanic in the usmc for the ah1z & uh1y. So hell yea

Paul Griech

My neighbor has his dads King cobras I tell him and wife all the time . if god forbid something happens to Ed I will by his colt python lol I’d rather not own it any time soon though lol

Maplebrew

Gotta have more wheel guns! How about a SW627 review

Porter3861

Great and enjoyable review!! My first pistol purchase ever was a S&W 686 4" stainless which I think I paid $400 for at the LE price in 1992. Just a solid, wonderful revolver and I appreciate the compare and contrast among the pistols in this review. I also reload .38/.357 and the 686 just gobbles up the ammo! Thanks for the continued excellent content. Love me The Project and I have for over 10 years. Now glad to support you guys via Patreon.

Fabian Medrano

I agree the blued version would be sweet, but I’d be curious how much more it would cost. Carbon steel is easier to machine and cost is a little less than SS but blueing takes a lot more labor. Like you said, the labor cost has gone up, especially for skilled labor. I would still love to see a blued version though.

Daniel Herb

Makes my old Ruger Security Six all jealous......

Daniel Defoe

As much as I love my K6S DASA 4"... I agree about the name. Stop with the alpha-numerics and come up with cool names!

Brandon Calhoun

Very cool they are going back to what they originally were very good at. I own a 1967 Colt python 4" flawless trigger. Its difficult to explain how good it is. I was wondering if the quality was going to be the same. Seems pretty cool.

Chopper

I’ve got a new in box 44 magnum S&W 29-2 from the 1970’s that I got off gun broker several years back. It’s such a beautiful gun.

Tim Bone

Don't forget the yellow-tinted sunglasses baby!

Tim Bone

As soon as I saw those wood grips I thought it would be hard to get a consistent grip. Hogue revolver grips are awesome and I remember some even used to have the "Colt pony" logo on those as well. If Springfield made it there would be a labelled "Grip Zone". 😂🤣😂

Anthony Schaad

Great review as always Nutn !! Where me n my bro help out as range officers, the owner he got a Colt King Cobra in 357 mag, n let me tell ya it’s badass. We got to put some rounds through ... manific! If only I had the spare funds haha.

SeamasterSig

The first gun I ever owned was a 357 magnum 6-inch Colt King Cobra purchased at a pawn shop in the early '90s while I was stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY (Rakkasans!). I shot the hell out of it until it went out of time. Eventually I gave it to my divorce attorney in lieu of cash for services rendered. To this day it remains the only gun that I ever used in "self defense". Sometimes I still reminisce about it. They were both sexy, but the gun was a keeper, the girl... not so much.
