TacticalDoodle and I give you a fun tour of this limited edition Glock P80.  It is a celebration of this earlier Glock and gives us a chance to visit a little Glock history.  We also so found this PISTOLE P80 to be a great shooter. In fact it shot just like a Glock! These P80s were very limited so are probably long gone unless you scored one early.

Cool stuff in the vid

This should be in production permanently

Well glock has been coming along, bit by bit. Didn't they dro pschematics for some Masada/XCR competitor a while back? Now they're only a couple decades behind the curve. Meanshile, Sig is dropping a thousand collector variants and special grifter schemes. If you split the diff between the two companies you'd find the good middle ground. Everyone loves something rare, just not if it's everything you make. Glock, meanwhile, makes nothing.

We appreciate Glock making this and keeping the price so reasonable. Very cool. Personally, we wouldn't buy one even at $600. Honestly, we haven't found a need to buy any new Glocks since purchasing our Gen 3s in the mid 2000's.

My Dad still has his original Glock 17! He bought it brand new from a dealer who is still in business today!

I like my gen 2 glocks. I also have some gen 3 stashed with the RTF finish and fish gills... and I bought some .40 cal police trades when they got to 300 or less. The only glock I would buy now / maybe.. is a gen 5 in 10mm. I hate the finger grooves.. so the new g20 would be nice. Or a 357 sig g32. Frankly I have more than I need now. The gen 5 not having standard glock parts also makes me less excited.

I sold my 30S, being I’m issued a 19 Gen 5 MOS… if carrying a gun that size, might as well be the duty gun. Have an AR9 pistol that takes Glock magazines… so seeing one of these locally yesterday, it was simple. Sitting on the desk next to me. Personally, I like unique guns. Reason why I have a SGS compensated Beretta, 9mm S&W 642, and CZ SP01 with Tac Block (and bayonet). I wouldn’t mind carrying the P80, just for s***s/giggles. But I want to get some more magazines (have 15s from work, 24s, and 33s)… likely Gen 5s and swap the followers in these two. Biggest question is if I leave it P80 configuration or swap in the standard upgrades (connector, slide release, magazine release)? I’ll probably shoot it Monday, since I have a few guns on the agenda to confirm zero/function.

Tacticaldoodle

I dug around a bit and found one out there for $589, one for about a hundo over that. So there's still hope! Unless you really love the origin glock thing, though, you'd be better off going gen five for all the cool stuff they include like the rtf2(?) or optic mount.

You should buy it Nutn!

Outrider950

I remember shooting the 1st Gen Glock 17. It was so different….but the same. My first Glock 17 was actually a Gen 2 in 92 and it only cost me 315.00. Wow. It doesn’t seem that long ago.

Dude, that Gundam‘s fallus is sticking out!! 😂

Brad Fegan

Definitely agree with TD on this one. Very cool but, not a need for me. Happy with my rotation of Sig 365XL or CZ P10S for be-bopping around town and S&W 642-1 when going to gym.

Im in Canada not the US but about 4 years ago i was looking for a Glock and i found a Gen 117 a guy was trying to sell for $450 but he spray painted the slide silver. I could not bring myself to buy it. For what ever reason when ever i see a Gen 1 its usually a 17L?

Jerry Hall

Great video- very cool

Iowa Dave

My first pistol purchase was a Gen 2 17 in 1991. I still own it and shoot it regularly.

Gilberto Esquivel

Nice Get. BUT having taken the M9 Beretta into Battle twice: Kuwait 91' Mogadishu 93', I still think my Gen 3 17 is pistol 'Perfection". Of my collection of pistols from M9 to 1911's it would be my #1 GTWP...

Joe Mack

Die Hard 2 called it a ceramic pistol that wouldn't set off metal detectors. Love die hard but in the words of chairmanBiden "come on man!"

Brievet

Very cool! Tupperware container is legit. I would even enjoy if the certificate of authenticity, or the slide, was numbered 0/5000 or something similar.

Nancy Merrell-Robertson

It's great to see your review of this gun since I'll probably never have the opportunity to shoot one. Thanks for taking us along.

Dawson Rabb

Did anyone else think Nutn was releasing a Polymer 80 video? Maybe it was just me but I wasn't aware of the Glock P80. I'm just sitting back laughing at myself ☺. I do however have a Gen 1 G17 and love it!

My wife bought a G17 Gen II, used, in Phoenix in probably 1996 or 1997. The only mods on it are a grip plug and rubber stickers to the grip, and I bought her a threaded barrel for it for Christmas.

Robert Harper

I really wish they would offer an alternative grip. My only knock on them is that “hump” or flair towards the bottom of the grip. It puts my middle finger at an odd angle against the trigger guard. Is it the end of the world? No. But it’s like having a tiny pebble in your shoe, you can go all day with it in there, but it annoys the F* out of you. If only there was an option for the back of the grip to parallel the front. I have felt after markets that were really nice, but I don’t want to spend money to fix an annoying little problem.

mike stevens

I'm going to try and buy my Gen 2 21 back. Wish I hadn't sold it now.

Downtrodden

I really want a Glock but my current state makes it impossible to buy one from a gun shop. I have a hard time paying $300 over retail from a private party. Hoping to sell my house soon and get to a free state!

Daniel Herb

Good on Glock for working on a cool gun with historical value.

Tacticaldoodle

That seems to be a hand geometry thing. I know guys who undercut the guard to fix it. I remember there being special aftermarket frames, but at that point you might as well go with something like a P320 unless you really need the magazine ecosystem.

Spiros sinnis

Live the video, great info as usual Not a glock fan

Jbocajs .

Oh, that p80. I thought you were talking about polymer80’s glock clones

Zak Orendorff

Lol I bet when he said stipple the handle the dude wasn’t joking until Nutn laughed and then he played it off like he was joking.

Mike S

Kind of wish I had grabbed a used gen 2 G17 or G19 for the second cool factor. Saw a gen 2 G17 for around 325 at a local shop a couple years back.

CincinnatiDan (Ohio)

Just saw a previously owned P80 for sale at a local gun shop for $479… i have no idea how long it lasted or if it is still there.

Josh P.

I believe my grandfather has a gen 1 G17 and the original box when he bought it as a service pistol as a sheriff back in the day, I'll have to take a look again to make sure. Great review! Love the nostalgia!

RobK

things were so crazy none of the dealer in my area would even try to order one of these for me, had to over pay a little on GB to get mine.

1SG Samuels

I just found one today in my local dealers cabinet for 450. Is this worth buying just for the 2nd kind of cool? I already own a 19, 34 and 35

Joseph

I bought mine used from a guy right as this video came out. Guy sold it for $575. He didn’t know what he had!!!!
