We take a look at the Shadow Systems enhanced Glock pistols. Lots of shooting done and I did come up with a strong opinion on these. You might be surprised!

Funny this should come out now. I ordered a MR920 Elite just a few hours ago. Hope this is a positive review!

Anthony Schaad

Yesss, so been waiting for your review on these !

David

Can’t wait to get home and watch it!

Anthony Schaad

Just finished the review Nutn… I totally agree on everything, honestly! I have the WARPOET edition of the MR920 and it is a really good gun, it’s light, accurate and extremely reliable! I got mine with a Holosun red dot and it serves in my carry rotation. I shoot and trust it that much. BUT, it definitely is a second cool thing, I have been shooting mine for a year now and carrying it on n off… and finally broke out my G19, blew some dust off n made sure old faithful worked and I was like … damn this Glock still shoots every bit as good as my shadow. I guess u could say my guns for the year were sigs this year ( 365XL and M18) , so I shot the shadow against the M18 and I looked at my brother funny he was like what ( he was shooting his Walther PDP) and I said to him bro I like theses 2 guns just as well as my 1K shadow lol. Soo will I ever spend that coin again… ehh maybe but I’m totally content with my Sig m18 at the moment and just stock guns in general! Second cool IS cool but like u said just not needed, fundamentals are where it’s at !! Thanks sooo much for your review n content in general Nutn!! Needless to say I been waiting on this review for over a year and ya didn’t disappoint!

Dawson Rabb

Love the extra “mini reviews” embedded in what is a fantastic GRV!

Jardine

Very nice!

Trey

Another great review! sometimes I just need a GRV after a lousy Monday.

Ian

Don't have the Masada, but do have the TRL8, as you said, very reliable and compact.

Todd Strelka

Very nice. I'm not attracted to the looks of a Glock, but this custom one is nice.

Bernal

My Glock 17 wears a red dot mount that attaches to the pic rail, so that it doesn’t reciprocate with the slide. It also has the Endo brace. Super sick! I’m only Five minutes into the video yet. I can’t keep my mouth shut today. Ha ha

Bernal

Oh yeah, it also has room for a Baldr Pro on the mount as well. Love my GL 17.

Rick Hunter

Predicting you loved it. Edit: looking like second cool from comments, I'll be back after I watch the video. 2cd EDIT: so basically some 1st usability and some 2cd cool factor. What I heard: build your own gun preferably a gen 5 glock.

Cory Risseeuw

I am so disappointed you don't like the Shadow Systems! The examples that I have held in store had a very good trigger. A lot better than a stock Glock. Who knows what is up with that. I am still going to buy a couple of them when I get back. I was originally going to get the G19 size model but they came out with the CR920 that is a G43 size model. I want that one and since that would be a carry gun maybe the G17 size like you got would be the way to go. I will have to consider that. Your competitive options make sense. Really depends on what my plans for use are I think. Number one use is CCW and I think the G43 size is the realistically practical model I would carry. Especially since I am so fat and got the role that makes the appendix position so uncomfortable. Keep up the amazing work buddy. Even if it is barely adequate I still watch.

Josh Winkler

I'm not a pistol expert by any means so I might be alone here but I never felt the need to change my basic Glock 19 Gen 5 much. I put an extended slide release in mine which is cheap and that's easy to do along with night sights and that's it. 🤷

Bernal

Last one; SENNA’s name has come up several times on TNP. I think most F1guys stink of narcissism, bad sportsmanship. Senna was no exception. But, when a guy leads the field at qualifying buy more than 1 second and chooses to go back out, even though he’s way ahead, that’s a guy that came to put on a clinic! Senna didn’t just want to win. He came to set the track on fire!

Michael Szymborski

Aim surplus had dr920 for $759 a few months ago. I couldn’t say no.

ToddDavey

At the other end of the spectrum are the PSA Dagger's. Anyone here have any experience with them?

STLParkRanger13 (IG: Sharpshooterjon)

We are absolutely in agreement on the Shadow Systems pistols. They're cool, really cool. But in first kind of cool, it's a Glock. Where my opinion may differ from yours (probably not, though) is from my perspective as a firearms instructor. I think that a lot of shooters, maybe even most shooters, would be better served buying the less expensive Glock and spending the remainder of the difference in cost getting quality, formal firearms instruction. Other than being a Park Ranger, and a firearms instructor/armorer/Simunitions instructor within our agency, I am also an instructor at a local commercial range here in St. Louis. FWIW, my secondary gig lends an interesting perspective: I get to watch a lot of "gun people" and see how they shoot. I don't mean to bag on anyone - please don't take it this way: some of our range members are excellent shooters. But many - most - are mediocre at best. And it's these guys who often try to compensate for a software problem by upgrading hardware. The irony is that their lack of solid fundamentals actually prevents them from truly realizing the advantages of their trick guns. (That's barring our IDPA guys. They're competent AND carry tricked out hardware.)

Mitch

I have the War Poet MR920 and I love it!

David

Thanks for the review! My gtw is a g17 mos with an rmr so of course I’m a Glock fan. I wish you could’ve taken the optic plate off and used a holo507 or rmr because the deep optic cut is really nice from what I’ve seen on the mr920. I know most people benefit from spending money on ammo and just getting training and trigger time but is there an aversion to using optics?

Mitch

I also have the War Poet MR920 and I love it, that being said it is also my first Glock. I agree with the 2nd cool factor. I'm building a P80 now, maybe I can like that better.... who knows.

Deon Lee

Talking about competitive options go check out the palmetto state dagger they have some pretty sweet (glocks) optics cut, slide cuts, stippling, threaded barrels and they are all around $400. Granted I haven’t shot one but been really thinking about ordering one to try. They have their carry model which has all the lightening cuts in the slide for $349 I was really thinking about trying it out. Same size as a g19 but they have g17 sizes too.

cody white

Beginning of this vid the Glock is a Glock is a Glock 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I know the feeling I’ve heard that from people who’ve never actually put more than a mag through a Glock and get to actually get comfortable with the platform. My cousin calls it the Toyota Camre of the gun world while the Chevy 350 is the AR15, he’s a car guy not me don’t shoot the messenger. Good to see more manufacturers enter the fur ball that’s turning into the Pistol industries AR15 if you look where’s it’s going. Keep up the vids Nutn and your old tactical drills you did back then have made great training vids to learn.

A

@Nutnfancy- Can you do a Girsan MC1911 (Made In Turkey)????

Downtrodden

I love Sigs and HKs but show me the price of a Glock magazine and I get bitterly jealous. Glocks make a lot of sense for 1st cool.

Eric Lindsay

I have a Dagger and it’s great

Eric Lindsay

Mine has been solid; I have the basic version with night sights. They will not fit Glock holsters; have to use P80 holsters instead.

Eric Lindsay

I love the modularity of the Glock platform! Have four glocks, three P80’s, and the PSA Dagger.

Rick Grad

The simplistic look of the Glock is actually my 2nd cool excuse as to why i love my Glocks. It took almost 10 years to convince myself to get new sights😂

Matt P

I have an mr920 combat /optics. It’s been a hundred percent. Also. Trigger is nowhere near as bad as nutn’s example. I’ve got standard Glock triggers, overwatch precision, ghost minus connector modded, Johnny glocks, this is across gens 3,4,5.The shadow systems is definitely lighter than any of the above. M&p 2.0 with an apex is the only trigger I own I like better. That said I agree not as good as the rdp. But it’s a Glock I m guessing it only gets so good. Like I said apex on an M&p is sweet.

Matt P

So, in 2019 I decided I wanted to try a red dot I’m fast approaching 50. My eyes are only getting worse each passing year and Aaron Cowans white paper convinced me to give it a try. I considered sending out a gen3 19 to get modded. In addition to finger groove removal / stippling front serrations etc. instead I purchased ( retail not blue label pricin) a Glock 45 mos. Added ameriglo front trit black rear suppressor sights , and talon grips along with a trijicon type 2 rmr. After a couple shooting sessions. I found I needed to re torque the mounting screws. This was fixed with a c&h precision mounting plate. With the sights , grip tape and plate added( not counting the rds)I’m well over 700 for the g45. This Jan I purchased an mr920 using their (Leo/mil)pricing. I didn’t have to add a thing though. I was out the door for 785 including tax/and Xfer fee. If your Leo or mil or other qualified purchasers( you’ll have to read the fine print, I think firefighters/ems etc qual) the pricing is much more competitive if your comparing to an mos Glock. On optics. I’m a believer there’s no penalty at cqb distance. 50 yd shots are ridiculously easy (for me on a 10*18 steel) , 100 yds is doable I’m practicing and improving each session. In an active shooter situation where I might need to take a shot in the middle of chaos at a shooter at the end of Walmart aisle(hypothetically) I’d absolutely want a dot. All of this with the caveat that I dry fire every night and shoot probably 3x per month at minimum. Only issue with dots is once you get used to it you want one on every gun.

PhilippG

I love that Bell& Ross type watch shown in the thumbnail.

Tim Bone

I think you hit on most of the real advantages to red-dots on pistols. But you also left out a very important aspect often overlooked: they help immensely for room-clearing and stairwell-clearing. Whether you're a homeowner who grabbed your pistol after hearing a bump in the night or a street-cop clearing stairwells in a high-rise it's a game changer in many ways. I've had to chase after an active shooter in a seven-floor apartment building (from the ground floor up) and would have loved to have my M&P Pro/Holosun combo with me. (Try aligning iron sights at a 45-70 degree angle and you'll see what I mean.) My department is transitioning to red-dots on pistols but this is caught up in department bureaucracy and accusations of militarizing our police {snicker}. Of course good training can alleviate some of these tactical problems (and aging eyes) but red-dots will never trump actual pistol proficiency.

Racing Psychosis

To me the Shadow Systems, are doing somethings very right. If I actually needed a Glock and did not have a couple or more already, I would buy one. I like Salient Arms, Agency Arms, Rival Arms, Polymer80 slides over the Glock slides, they are second cool and more functional than Gen 3. If you see the Poly80 I picked up in the community tab, I got the lemon, the flat face trigger sucked crap and actually did not work. I had planned to put in my spare G19 trigger in it anyway to match it to my Glock, but damn the one that came with it, bad, not functional. But it was under 5 bills out the door with tax, I could not even build for the price I paid for it. Those Magpul Glock mags are absolute garbage, and great for malfunction drills. I have a few ETS mags and those are quite functional and have not been problematic on the range. But the Magpul Glock mags are shit. I have 7 of them and they are all junk with good brass and even worse if you shoot aluminum or steel case. Now the Poly80 mags look like a clone Glock mag, actually I think they are KCI's, with steel lining and witness holes their own base plate, and so far have been flawless.

Racing Psychosis

I bought a slide for my G19 with an optics cut. Like you I've surged past 50 and my eyes are starting to get not as good. Going be trying the red dot out on it very soon.

Tim Bone

Good post. I'm in the last years of being in the Chicago PD. The older I get the more I understand and agree with that saying "amateurs talk hardware...professionals talk software".

ToddDavey

Thanks for the info, too bad I'm already well invested in traditional Glock holsters

The Nutnfancy Project

"... but is there an aversion to using optics? " I don't mind them and I shoot good with them; it's just more complexity and bulk I don't want or need. Thanks much David.

The Nutnfancy Project

Yes the Dagger is another good Glock copy and worth owning. I'll put a link to them above.

Robert Avery

Beretta 1301 review please 🙏

cody white

The beginning Glock is a Glock 🤣🤣🤣 good to see more companies try the same Glock formula and maybe hopefully Glock ups their competition in return.

matthew

PSA Dagger review coming soon?

maxmfs

I have two Gen 4 G19s, and went the full ATEI, Great Lakes, and KKM barrel route (one comped and one uncomped). I had both done to Roland Special specs - RMRs, magwells, extended mag and slide releases, etc., - but chose to leave one uncomped with XC1B instead of X300U for carry. I had both out this past weekend, and I can’t say enough good things - believe what you hear about KKM barrels. The end product is not off the shelf by any stretch, but I highly recommend it if you have the time, money, and inclination.

David and Elizabeth

📣"Hey Nutnfancy you always get the lemon and we love it 'cause it ends up in a railing session." 😆😄 ❤❤

Hold Fast Joe

Good review! Interesting combination of features. Too bad on the trigger but maybe another copy would have that 4 to 5 pound pull

Dawson Rabb

Love how the CZ P10 series is represented. I would however like to see the P10s in the collection.

Tommy F

I’ve handled a Dagger, seems great.

Jerome J

outstanding review

Aubrey Milliron

Hi Nutn!! Nice review. Like the M920L! Finally g19 grips with g17 barrel, and like you say, cool!! Could prolly drop a Timney trigger in it to fix trigger issue......

Tacticaldoodle

I kinda take back what I said years ago when I wished for more customized glocks. I understand my sins now. I am sorry

Andrew H

Bro, crap trigger in a Gucci Glock, that just can't fly

Jared Strawn

I kinda pieced something like this together from a 19.4 slide and a nomad 9 lower. Essentially the same but I definitely paid more 😩😩😩

Matt P

I built a poly 80. in my understanding it is a crap shoot depending on parts used. mine fuctions well. But I guess alot are projects.

Jude Torres

Great GRV, I love Glocks and many of the clones, i.e. P80, Strike Industries, Lone Wolf 🐺 I’ve got them all and enjoy them on a first and second cool basis. And yes I also have the Masada as well as others seen here on the channel as recommended GTW options but I am fortunate to have a wife that supports it so I probably have way more handguns and rifles than your average bear 🐻

Racing Psychosis

Oh I'm sure on the home built ones. I got a good price and bought a serialized one from a Local GS. Other than the factory Poly80 trigger being garbage, everything else is awesome for the price.

Joshua Bustamante

Love the review Nutn! Think we could get one on the Diamond Back DBX57?

Cory Risseeuw

The Dagger trigger is unbearable. I will give you mine Nutn! No seriously you can have it.

Stan White

I use gun locks to lock up my motorcycle helmet too lol. I love the motorcycle vids! Just got a 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan last fall. Just ordered all kinds of accessories for it hope to ride the hell out of it this year And at 65ish mpg I can still afford to lol.

Nathan P Hubsch

You know what's better than a Glock and a Shadow Systems Glock, a $300 Canik.

Nathan Simms aka Darkpriest

My TP9SF will outshoot any of these pistols. I've owned it 5 years now (since Nutn's recommendation) and I have YET to find a striker fired pistol that will out shoot it.

Nathan P Hubsch

Yeah, my Steyr L9 comes close, but my Canik Elite is the better shooter.

Racing Psychosis

They have been unobtainium @$300 in my part of the country for going on 3 years now. I like my TP9SF but good luck finding a holster that isn't custom made that is worth a damn.

Nathan P Hubsch

We the People Holsters makes one, but I primarily use Sticky Holsters. The Canik Elite One was $270 at one point. There's one on Gun Broker for $299 right now, buy now price.

Tyler Dexter

Nutn videos always hurt my wallet just got sig p365 from gunnies

Racing Psychosis

Hence my answer on holsters. Mine was one of the one series and was dirt cheap, no disagreement. Not a single one of my goto holster companies makes a holster for a Canik, that isn't custom, and likely never will, because there is no demand for them. I have no need for a 4" Elite when I carry a gen 5 G19 or a Hellcat where there are dozens of people making good holsters and accessories. Would I like one, maybe. That one on Gun Broker is used, definitely looks it. Last time I saw one locally, New, $750. I like them, but its not going to replace my G19 in that role.

Racing Psychosis

Oh and I've not seen any used locally either at that price. Likely a very decent deal, for something with some external wear on the coating.

Nathan P Hubsch

Well online new they're about 360 - 400 for the same model. I get not replacing your gun if you're already invested into it. Guys in my area have bought out the Canik's at my gun store pre and post plandemic.

TenaciousAmerican

LOL A Glock is a Glock. 2nd cool...Got a CZ P-10C. It makes me look good. Yes I have Glocks in other systems. I appreciate your views on pistol mounted optics. When you gonna come into the 21st century?

Charlie Stout

Always enjoy a grv from NUTN! I recently bought the mr920 and I love it.

Aquanaut

The dollar continues to drop, meanwhile the ruble is going up despite all the sanctions. Don't see the sense in punishing one corrupt country for warring with another corrupt country
