A by request review on the LCP II Max! It will be 40 seconds. Oh you wait more? OK I figured, so we'll go into the whole gun and why it's still a reference standard in .380. A fun gun review with standard silliness.

Did the 30 Super Carry make it?

Raymond Kuhn

The Max was a "game changer" for me personally. That term gets overused sometimes but the amount of firepower in such a small package is truly amazing.

af

Thank you!

Matthew Jantz

I have been eagerly awaiting this review, been on the fence about the purchase!

Greg Malcom

Sweeet!! I've been waiting for this review. I bought one and generally like it. And it has been my daily carry for six months. Would not want to get in a gun fight with it longer than 15-20 yards, however.

Pedro

I got one a few months ago, silver cerakote slide. Absolutely love it.

Matthew Sinn

Love mine. I ended up with a limited run green one, which is actually a very good look for the Max in my opinion. I consider it a significant upgrade over my LCPII for two reasons: the slightly wider front of the grip improved my ability to make longer shots; and second I was able to go from two spare mags to a single spare and actually increase the total rounds carried.

Brad Fegan

Well, have to take a look at it. I pick up a G42 a while back because I like the ergos over Ruger better. 10 + 1 hmmm, very interesting. Olight T10 still my go to light.

Trent Thornton

I actually found I could control the MAX better than my LCP2 22lr

David Goodridge

Hey my dog Otis and I just spent $20 at McDonalds. He eats a lot of those chicken nuggets. So yea, I can give Nutn $6 a month. .

Powernoodle

I'm sitting in my back yard, catching some healing infrared radiation filtering through the trees, and watching TNP with an LCP Max on my belt. Life is good.

Quentin moore

Nutn! Thanks for the review. So cool to see a request become content. To answer your question yes i bought it for myself and passed the lcp2 down to the lady lol. What a fantastic review thanks again.

Hunter

I feel validated now, thank you.

Hold Fast Joe

Mine (60 pound pittie) tries to jump through the window at kfc to get to their food! After the second time I either go inside or take her home before I get that lovely chicken bucket lol

Powernoodle

The Board of TNP met in executive session, and wishes to inform you that this gun is an LCP Max, not LCP II Max.

Hold Fast Joe

Good review and wow great shooting! I would take mine to league practice hitting plates at 50ft. I learned it didn't like a lot of the ammo available locally and I was a better shot with the g42 so I switched to glock. The slightly longer barrel seems to generate enough back pressure for crappy ammo to cycle.

Bernal

Trying to avoid having an oddball caliber in my system, I got the LCP 2, in 22LR. This gun has strong second cool factors for me. I like shooting it a lot. Hitting an 8.5x11 at 25 yards would be max range for me without completing waisting ammo. But, it is a jam machine. I tried lots of types of ammo and 5 different magazines. Aguila Super is the clear winner but it still jams pretty often. TX22 is my go to .22 pistol 👍

Casey Jones

I didn’t need validation, I just bought it last Christmas and it has been an outstanding CCW. I get working and forget it’s riding on my 5. Just a product improved LCP 2. Love it love it.

David Goodridge

Otis is a pit also. He’s fat about 80 pounds

Schmuckatelli

I didn't even know that Ruger had made a "high cap" .380. But it's no surprise considering that it's en vogue for gun makers to come out with a sequel for every one of their carry pistols now a days. When S&W came out with the Shield Plus I thought I had to have one to replace my inadequate Shield. This is a similar situation. Okay...first of all, the Shield is not inadequate. Second, I'm not going to run out and buy another .380....especially when it's my backup. My LCP II is filling that role nicely.

David Englehart

This is the only iteration of the LCP that I haven't owned. I need to fix that :)

Downtrodden

GRV is a good way to kick off a weekend. That nugget on 30 Super Carry is intriguing. Personally, I’ve been casually looking for a blue framed Taurus 856 but Nutn must have sold those out.

Foghorn

WOW.. just bought one last week... And I have a JEtfire!!! Love that pocket rocket.

Zambini

I wonder Nutns thoughts on the P365 in 380, if it's too big to compete against the LCP?

Moe Mansour

Gonna have to buy a house down there so I can fill it with cool shtuff like this. Can't own many fun things in the north.

Matthew Sinn

It has a potential market for those whose hands are too large for the Max but lack the strength to manage 9mm. Not a large market, but it exists.

Seeker Keyl

Yessss! I bought a Max right after it came out (sorry dude). Sweet gun. Actually, after my wife (finally) got her carry license, she effectively took it from me since she shot it better than other guns we had (she, too, is a tiny lady). It is now the only pistol I have more than one of! It was interesting how you mentioned that Mrs Nutn was experiencing some jams. My wife shot it previously without issue, but the last time we went to the range, it jammed on her a few times (shot fine for me though). I did not clean her Max after our previous range session as I have done before, thinking it would be like my other pistols and run for at least a couple range sessions without a hiccup, so perhaps it just needs to be kept well-cleaned and -lubed for it to be reliable for her at this point.

Patrick Brichta

Awesome, thanks Nutn! Love my original LCP II, my summer shorts and beach thong EDC!

James Hood

Such a great review. Love the 2nd voice. So entertaining. Keep ‘em coming Nutn.

squealer

"Homeless" people can spare $6/month cuz I pay their rent!

Jeremiah Wilbur

Thanks for the review Nutn. I’m starting to get into firearms instruction and I’m sure I will get one of those in the near future.

Jarrad Walsh

Thanks nutn! I bought one a few months ago in stainless steel so far so good.

Matthew Hargis

Thanks Nutn for the review. I couldn’t wait on your review. I couldn’t pass up a fantastic November AAFES sales event where I upgraded my wife’s LCP2 with the Max. She loves it. I now use the LCP2 when I need something very small. I love it too, but I have one exception. My LCP2s slide is rusting. I keep using steel wool and oil to clean it but have decided to Cerekote the slide for first cool reasons as well as second cool reasons. Both are fantastic. Thanks again. -Sharkey

USK remains one of my all time favorite TNP series. And the concepts remain valid and on my mind as I recently moved to a new office. Nutn check this out and give us a USK update with review of the D7 egress rope kits! https://www.tacticaltech1.com/d7-100egressingresskit.aspx

Nathan P Hubsch

That thing is getting into Makarov territory. I still carry a Makarov if I'm going with single stack, ammo is hard to get now though.

Henry Mattson

Have you tried Federal Champion out of the 50 round box? I've had good luck, even over CCI.

Henry Mattson

Try Ruger customer service. I've read of cases where they cerekote once as a courtesy. You can Google it. I'm pretty sure it was a reddit thread.

Plumber Angelo

Beautiful little piece! I haven’t dipped my toe into the .380 world yet, but the water sure looks nice!

Joshua Pulliam

I would love to get my hands on a Makarov purely for second cool. And I’d carry it some too!

Joshua Pulliam

I still love my LCP II. It is a great summer carry at the lake or backup gun. I forget that I have it on when I carry it.

William H

My wife happening to overhear: “oh he calls it a mouse gun too, I feel so validated.” Thanks Nutn. Thanks a lot.

Nathan P Hubsch

Picked one up for $300 a couple years ago. Got it cerakoted and put wood grips on it from Russia.

Matthew Hargis

Thanks Henry. I’ll definitely look into that and call Ruger customer service. I appreciate the advice.

Lee Harrell [W5GCF]

Bought one for my wife last Christmas. After she opened her gift and I handled it for a few minutes, I got online and ordered another one for me before we were even done opening gifts. Best shorts pocket pistol out there - perfect for jogging. I’m probably going to buy two more for my college aged kids - great addition to their G19 gen 5s. Thanks for the review, I completely agree - runaway hit.

Paul Griech

get a g26 and be done with it. i had a beretta 32 tomcat i used to keep in a bag. well one night i clobbered a deer with my truck. i broke that deers legs so i wanted too finish it so it wouldn’t suffer! i emptied every round but one too finish the deer off! needless to say i sold that gun. if it took that many rounds to finish a deer what would it do in a defensive manner???

Bernal

Not yet. I’ve tried Fed Value Pack and Range Pack. It doesn’t like any CCI. I can rarely get through (2) mags without an issue when loading Aguila. Usually the rounds get stuck in the magazine, occasional log hams.

Rick Grad

I bought the M&P Shield after your review years ago. It’s the smallest gun we have in the family, and we love it. We don’t have a need for a smaller gun, but the reviews are always fun to watch!

Phil H

I haven't bought it yet. Was waiting for your review :)

Phil H

Was it a particular type of ammo that jammed?

Phil H

Jeez. Did u shoot it in the head?

Phil H

I'm finally considering replacing my walther pps m2 with a sig 365 after seeing your review. I've tried to wait for Walther to come out with a competitor, but I guess it's never coming. If it ever does, I'll be looking to your review

Donald Adriano O'Keefe

DO A UPDATE FOR U.S.K. LIKE ONE ABOUT PERSONAL DRONES OR EVEN BETTER TECH like the .30 SUPERCARRY

Seeker Keyl

Not really. We shot both range loads (round nose fmj's) and some (Ruger approved) non-hollowpoint defensive loads of the fluted variety ("Inceptor ARX"). Neither of which have been jamtastic previously since the shape is pretty smooth. Oh and this also occurred for her across different mags. I honestly think it was just a case of limp wrist.

bugout

Can we get a keltec p17 review please??? It seems like a great alternative carry option loaded w federal punch 22, mine has 4k rds in it and runs extremely well.... commenting on the ruger max 380 - how about a ruger max 22lr same form factor w 20rd mag of 22lr?!?! That would be the end-all.

Michael McAtee

I’m considering adding an LCP 2 for my system. But I think I’ll go for the .22LR. I already stock it and I don’t want to add another caliber.

Cheesewell

LCP II=my super carry Thanks now I feel like I need the Max

Ben H.

Awesome review nutn! I've been gloating the idea of getting an lcp 2. Didn't know this model was out! I'm going to get an m3000 first though since I have a lc9s pro already.

Ben Wagner

I’m watching and I don’t own any LCP variants!

A

The mags are a deal killer for me. Face them the right direction.

CincinnatiDan (Ohio)

I’ll repeat another persons question, why is the P365-380 not a competitive option?

Tim Jarvis

The opening was funny as shit to me. Definitely purchased this when it first came out but figured I'd watch to see what he thought to confirm my buy. LMAO

rjw

Where I live 30 super carry ammo is collecting dust on the shelves. Def wont be a runaway success.

Racing Psychosis

Didn't buy it, still have a deuce, won't be buying a Max, have no need for it. Still primary carry a G19 or Hellcat.

Paul Griech

yes sir multiple times from less than 3 yds

Matt Brown

About one failure to go into battery every mag. Not limp wristing :( 200 rounds in.

David Elkins

Lost my Orange perun mini and replaced it with a very similar and less expensive thrunite. Perun mini is awesome tho.

Joseph

Love this review and love this gun! It’s fantastic. I don’t need it but want it

Todd Strelka

Deep carry office gun. I need one!

Dione Kollee

Mucho Satisfied! Sucks being in California. We can’t purchase any newer model pistols 👎

Jeremy doblinger

Gonna look at one of these for my wife(edc). Went today and rented a hellcat and a sheild plus..the sheild was the victor..we both shot it well..really well..dude!! Also finger banged the new sig 365 macro.. gonna be my next pistol purchase.. anyways much love to all in TNP land.. stay frosty

Rusty Chains

Thanks for the info. Bought the LCPII years ago on your recommendation, I went by the LGS and looked at the Max yesterday and it just doesn't offer enough more than what I have and is less thin which is the main selling point of the LCPII. It is great choice when I don't feel like carrying or in a non permissive environment, otherwise I mostly carry 365XL. Oh, really interested on your take on the 30 Super Carry guns when they start to show up.

Harold Galen McPheron

I'll be married 48 years next month, and I never get into my wife's purse!!! LOL

Daniel Herb

Me and the wife love the LCP II. Glad to see it comes in a bigger size, or at least the wife will like the bigger size...... Thanks Nutn!

Matt P

Bought this gun as a gift to myself last Xmas. I’ve vetted it over the last 9 months or so. Had abdominal surgery on Sept 23. The max has been a constant companion in a boraii pocket holster. Not really feeling carrying a belt gun at the Moment.
