At Wyatt's place with an infield shooting extravaganza on the Bear Creek side charging AR15/AR10 complete uppers. As Wyatt points out, these are ideal for suppressing since no direct gas blowout happens at the receiver rear. He shows his suppressors of choice. I have a little fun on W's choice of ammo. And since I'm here the guns will have a problem or two!

I’ve been waiting for this review. Definitely a budget brand. Local gun store swears by BCA, but he also swears by the citadel shotguns.

Brad Fegan

I do like that price. It's interesting because it is something different.

The Nutnfancy Project

Yeah I came away luke warm on these. I returned the one I'd bought. They're heavy too.

I used to work with a guy that built nothing but BCA AR’s. I’ve cruised their site for year but near invested in one. Very interesting to hear the TNP truth about these uppers. They seem to have their niche in the market but I’m still not sure that they’re for me.

Mike R

Yeah I know BCA are hit and miss with quality control. A lot of people recommend changing the extractor to a quality one if not the entire bolt. I know one guy on a discord his extractor broke he didn’t know it and thought he cleared the rifle and had a ND go through his lamp and out the wall in his house. Thankfully no one was hurt, another guy didn’t have the bolt fully lock and cracked the upper. Though some have no issues with them, personally for me I stick with PSA for budget AR builds and stay away from BCA.

Joshua Mount

If the price is too good to be true it probably is. I'll stick with using parts from BCM and other reputable brands.

Everything in life really seems to be risk - reward. Cost - benefit. For the cost benefit of bca vs aero i just don't know how someone doesn't spend the extra $175 on the aero upper. I mean...if they are going to actually use it that $175 only gets you an extra 80 rounds anyway these days so what is that - half of your first range session with it?

Bill The Broken

Ty nutn for the review it likely help many. Probably won't help wyatts inventory though 🙄😆

Plumber Angelo

Awesome review Nutn! Of course there was some hiccups, it’s a TNP tradition!

I have two BCA uppers, a 16" mid length 5.56 and a 16" 350 Legend. Both shoot sub MOA and function flawlessly. I also really like their rails for about $100. I don't have a ton of rounds through them but so far so good. The 350 Legend had a few failures to go into battery on the first mag but has been flawless since. Mine are both standard rear chargers. The 350 Legend also harvested 3 white tails this year... No complaints from me. At under $500 for both shipped to my door I'm a happy camper.

DuginIN

Thank you Wyatt. Maybe a Gen 2 for 350 Legend suppressed hunting.

Trustful Marksman

I tried 350 legend ar-15 for a while and couldn't get them to run. I tried a BCA upper an RRA upper and even built my own with an adams arms piston kit but had non stop failures to feed across the board with every type of ammo including handloads. Failures to feed almost every mag. I've finally given up on it.

Zach Maddox

Were you using purpose built 350 Legend mags, such as the CMMG?

Trustful Marksman

I used dura mags(i think they supply cmmg can anyone confirm) and lancers modified by wilson combat. The case mouth would stop up against the hard right edge on the front of the duramags until I beveled the edge. I'm certain the trouble comes from the cartridge having an extremely steep feed angle and perhaps some companies like cmmg have found the secret sauce. My recommendation to anyone who wants to get into 350 is buy a complete rifle from a good company who will service it and get it running right. I tried to do it on my own and save money and ended up spending more and still failing. Rookie move! Should've listened to nutn.

Zach Maddox

I bet a CMMG dedicated 350 legend mag fixes your issue.

Trustful Marksman

Doesn't matter anymore I sold all my 350 parts except reloading. The only thing I might do is buy a henry single shot for hunting.

BadgerTails

The Panzer AR-12 is GTG, as long as you have the Panzer mags..

Bear Independent

I tested one of these about a year ago. Well, actually 2… the first was 10 MOA out of box (1-8 .223 Wylde) with every ammo I tried. Shot so poorly that even zeroing was a pain. After 120 rounds trying to get the bastard to group, I returned it. BCA sent a second upper, which was on point out of box. I short it against my 16” Recce rifle and 20” PSA heavy FN barrel and it the BCA beat both on accuracy from 100 yards. So… the first upper was completely unimpressive; the second was stellar. Do you even QC bro?!

Seeker Keyl

Oh nooo! I feel bad for Wyatt!

James Young

Those Primary Arms prism optics are my favorite optic. They are excellent for the reasons Wyatt laid out. They also have auto on for the illumination and it still works without illumination. The BDC in there is a nice feature and somehow it works with a magnifier like a red dot.

James Young

I would love it if BCA had forged side charging uppers but I dont trust the billet ones. I enjoy side charging more than T handle charging for sure

Andrew H

Hilarious🤣🤣 Love it!

Jerome J

Wyatt can shoot

Racing Psychosis

I do like the ACSS SLx optics from Primary Arms.

Onewizeguy

I ordered a BCA upper in 7.62x39 with a traditional charging handle. I read and viewed so many reviews of over gassing and broken extractors and I didn’t want to mess with tuning an adjustable gas block so I returned it to BCA. They were good about the reurn- no pain there.

Carioca

I call BS on the 3 month Stamp approval. I just got my stamp for my Mod X I bought in March. So just over 7 months. Which was better than 14 months back in 2020 the last time I needed one.

Hugh Amlett

What muzzle device is Wyatt running? Anyone know exactly what that is?

Drake Tilson

I’m a BCA dealer.. I sell lots of their uppers to people on a budget. I’ve heard lots of good things from my customers, but on two separate occasions I got a call from two different customers with two different BCA uppers stating their gun just went “click” when they tried to fire. When they brought their BCA upper in to me for inspection, I quickly found the problem - BCA shipped out otherwise complete uppers without a striker in the BCG. I emailed Bear Creek about this issue and have yet to hear back from them.

Andrew Sendelbach

I have a few 7.62x39 uppers from them. I put enhanced firing pins in and a HD extractor spring and have had 0 issues. Makes a great deer rifle. Runs steel just fine.

The Hide

Ive reviewed a few of BCA uppers and barrels and have been super impressed with how well they have shot. To many gun snobbs turn their nose to these types of products. Nice to see you highlight a few of them Nutn!!

Jesse (Sphinx)

Sounds like BCA is hit or miss on QC. I have a .223 wylde BCA upper on a YHM lower and it's 100% reliable and sub moa. Talking first round hits on a 6-inch plate at 400 yards in low wind with 55gr sierra blitz kings. Side charger isn't my favorite though--I keep an allen key, spare charging handle, and screw in my grip because if your charging handle comes off you're done! Radian Raptor SD charging handles do great dispersing gas, so T-handle is better. I like the Silencerco GDCH too, but I don't like that it's entire function depends on an easily lost O-ring. On handloads...they're better, more accurate, and more reliable than factory ammunition when done correctly. I've got gas guns that get fed nothing but handloads and they work fine. I think that 350 legend issue you were seeing is just a problem with running that cartridge in ARs in general. Given the good luck I've had with BCAs .223 Wylde, I may give their 6.5 CM a try--but I'll be getting the T-handle one!
