My dad took a freeway slide on his Gold Wing decades ago, when avoiding a car that whipped over in front just as he started passing a line of several . He was garbed in full anti-sandpaper attire., missed the undercarriage of all other vehicles, came out unscathed but for a broken ankle.

My Rev’it! PWR Aramid gloves look almost identical. I actually do wear gauntlets in the winter because I don’t have Hippo Hands!

Racing Psychosis

So kart racing, I'm sort of an anomaly. I wear typically a leather fabric hybrid motorcycle glove, with knuckle protection. I get about a season out of most brands. I fit in with the dirt oval karters, but not with the sprint/road racer karters. I'm primarily a sprint racer. Oval trackers will wear heavy denim pants with cow hide heavy leather jackets. The sprint karters will wear the not so abrasion-resistant racing suits, they last about 5 ft on the asphalt and concrete, thin so-called abrasion resistant fabric, but not so much when you are upside down sliding on your head and shoulders with a kart on top of you. Seen it quite a bit. Your designer stretchy jeans would like go further. I wear armored motorcycle leather jacket and heavy denim pants and remove the back armor from the jacket so I can actually sit in the seat and feel the kart. Armored elbows are awesome as nothing like banging your elbow off the engine 10-12 times in a race or your exhaust pipe, the same pipe that will melt that fancy-ass driving suit. I do sweat more in leather, but I'm fine with that.

Had an FZR 400 as my only mode of transport for 6 months after coming off of active duty... probably put 10k on her in that span between work, school and various younger single man pursuits... hate to think what that would do to my spine now. Thanks for the memory!
