Nutnfancy review on the Primary Arms SLX series of compact scopes. Focusing on the realm of moving targets, I show you this little gem in action on our long long lost Troy T22 10/22. I immediately loved the little SLX. It has enormous field of view, is illuminated, has a bunch of mounts with it, and is built super tough. This version is 3x and I shot it with both eyes open. The illuminated reticle will be ballistically matched to the calibers discussed/shown here but experimentation will make it suitable for any caliber. It's now a fave of TNP operations, highly rec'd.

This is so cool. I can't wait to watch this review! My old man eyes would like a scope like this.

Ace Invasive

Nutn, do you have any interest in the 5x version?

Elijah Ballard

Local PD uses this optic. Very nice optic for the price!

Bill The Broken

Have the 1x and 3x on diff rigs for different POUs and i have beaten the crap out of them (not on purpose :). My experience is that they are absolute tanks and i LOVE the mounting system. Always greatful for your reviews good sir - really looking forward to your personal thoughts on this kit. Thanks for all the years and for all you do for this community.

Trevor

These little things look so cool…. I’ve been using a TA-31 on my colt 6720 (lightweight model) these prisms give you a lot of bang for your ounces

Trey

I have the 1X power version of this optic called the cyclops on my 14.7 AR upper and I really like it. I think I bought it about 1 year ago and the battery is still going strong with auto live. I have 3x magnifier mounted behind it and it was a little hard to get the diopter in the optic to clear up with the diopter in the magnifier but I did find a happy medium with the two optics.

Jordan Parker

You are not wrong, Nutn. I have 5 of these optics across various 5.56, 7.62x39, and 300 Blackout platforms. I knew this was a winner after my experience with the first one I received. I love the size/weight compromise versus a 1-6 LPVO that I would otherwise desire for those platforms. I got an email the other day that Primary Arms is releasing a 5x SLx microprism in the near future, which I'm also excited about. Thanks for the review!

Mr.Mark

Your link takes us to the 1x version.

Erik

I bought the SLX 3X for a lightweight pencil barrel AR build. It weighs less than most scope mounts (8.8 ounces). I see the 3X becoming more and more popular with guntubers, which is funny because it got no respect for the 1st year of its life. I know one guntuber who gave his away to his Patreon followers, never used it, said he didn’t plan on using it.

Nate Berglund

I've been waiting for this review! And not for confirmation bias reasons lol. I haven't bought this optic...yet 😉.

Bluegill097

Perfect, I’d been wondering about this product.

Maxreverse

As always great reviews NUTN. Will definitely check this optic out.

LucNukem

Literally just purchased the 1x version with the gemini reticle for my sub2k. Been considering the 3x acss for my ruger american in 7.62x39 since I use it for close in shots.

Don Stricklin

FYI, If you have any first responder friends, you can buy it for 209.99 on PA website after you go through the verification process.. God Bless

The Nutnfancy Project

I just wagged it when I got the 3x and glad I got it. It would be my fave for sure. Just enough magnification for longer shots but huge field of view. Glad to see it's in use with you guys, I really love the SLX.

Justin Wingerter

Glad to see a review on this, I've heard so many good things about these but let's see what the trusty Nutn has to say. I imagine a positive review is in store based of the few comments made in the last video!

Ian

that's a solid discount, good looking out

JFire

Glad I waited for the review, I’ve been wanting one for a bit but wasn’t sure about it. Thanks now I know what I can upgrade my 10/22 optic with!

Cyborg009

I own both editions of the 1X which is superb if you have astigmatism. I will pick a 3X for sure.

Nate Berglund

Glad to hear it. I've been looking at this for a while now. I really like the idea of an etched reticle that will work without illumination but not sure about fixed magnification for my gtw rifle. Any thoughts?

Rick Grad

Have to choose 3x from the drop-down menu. Optics Planet links are wonky like that.

Ryan Nichols

I have the 1x version planned to pick up a magnifier to combo with it on a 14.5 AR, but they just announced the 5x so I might try that with an offset red dot.

Anthony Schaad

Hey Nutn! I’ve really redone my rifle setups the past year and have Ben favoring more magnification/1-6, 2-12. I’ve taken a few DMR classes and it just makes a lot of sense lol but I have been eye balling those for a few months, especially the 1x micro prism with their ne 5x magnifier coming out just looks sweet . Just hard to get away from lpvos lol, ur review tho is fantastic as always, someone actually answering the questions I have ! Thanks Nutn!

Todd

I grew up using shotguns, and mostly bird hunting. I’m still not versed in the ways of optics. Would love to learn though.

Harddog

I absolutely hate the Chevron reticle! Love the horse shoe, put a dot in the middle!!

UncutDan

Been running a 3x on my main 16" for a while now, love it! Can't beat the price to performance.

Andrettski

Have the 1X on my 10.5" AR pistolet and 2 PA scopes on my Mini-30 and WASR 10, I've been happy with them. I got the SIG Bravo5 5x32 but haven't tried it out yet, prob going on another AR. I also have the newer Strike Eagle 1-6x24

Joshua Mount

I've basically been phasing out LPVO'S on 5.56 guns. They are supposed to be light and handy. LPVO'S can super heavy for what they are. I know alot of guys love em and I do enjoy them too but i am getting away from them. I'm either running short range inside of 100 with a red dot. general purpose guns out to 250 to 300 yards with a 3x or 4x prism optic. And SPR guns running 2.5-10x size optics and they are all lighter than the LPVO. I have a few of the PA prism scopes and I really enjoy them. AD makes a QD mount for the PA 3x micro prism and I like it better than the factory mount. Only downside of the AD mount is you have to use a very low pro rear sight like the MBUS pro or similar thinner rear sights will clear it. Alot of thicker sights won't fit under it like Troy, mbus standard, MI ect.

BadgerTails

I tried to buy via your link: they have a 13% off coupon at the OP site, but it doesn't work for this item. went to the PA site and it's a mess as to figure out which one is which: they call them magnifiers? Meh. I like the aspect you discuss per shooting with both eyes open for moving targets, and the Mepro stuff is GTG for me there, and they honor MIL/LE discounts. It's a Bassh Mashter kinda day! Drive on TnPers!

Colostomybag

Yeah me too can’t wait for the 5x. Do you think you would run a piggyback rmr as well or do you think 5x is low enough.

Jordan Parker

I think it would require some testing to see if the horseshoe is visible enough to use as a red dot at closer ranges. I'd prefer to not need anything additional.

Racing Psychosis

That's easiest way to find them. If you sign up on the PA email list they quite often will run a 10-12% off sale around the patriotic holidays. I deal with them because PA is easier than dealing with OP and ships quicker as well.

Racing Psychosis

I love the the PA prisms. As I age with a stigmatism and aging eyes I can utilize their diopter and get a much clearer view of their illuminated etch recticle. Yea you can do the other higher end prisms for your GTW, but not all my guns are necessarily GTW. I run a 3x SLX on my Henry 44 Mag Black levergun, works awesome, don't give a shit if hurts a traditional person's feelings, as I have plenty of leverguns that are the normal cowboy variety. I run a 1x SLX on a back up 556 upper. I also love the ACSS reticle and use it on a lot of my guns. And yes both eyes open.

DuginIN

Didn’t know it exists. Always good to know what’s out there. Thanks for the review.

Downtrodden

You aren’t wrong Nutn! I have one on my primary AR and could use about three more. The HK416 (22lr) is begging for one but the SFART is next.

Patrick Brichta

Dude! Great vid, loved my 1x on my home aero PCC, went back and got a 3x for my PSA AK pistol. Great piece of glass. I have super shitty astigmatism and red dots always look like I'm starring at a disco ball. With the etched glass no such worry. I also like that God forbid SHTF I'll still have the scope even without battery power.

Brian Driver

Nice review. To bad their products are made in China and/or Philippines.

Eric Lindsay

I have been impressed with the primary arms optics I have. I took a 7.62x39AR out to 300 yards with ease using the 1-6X PA scope.

DudeDudeDude

These are a spectacular ak sight as well.

OldBloodanGuts

I have a couple of them. Excellent optic.

Cody Snell

I've had a trijicon ACOG for years and always thought the 3x would reign over the standard 4x. I plan on grabbing one of these.

Zach Maddox

Love this optic in a 1x, I have astigmatism so red dots are a no go. And an LPVO is too heavy for my main rig. This optic is the perfect solution.

Mike S

Very happy you reviewed this optic. I grabbed one of the 2.5x powered SLX's last year since the reviews were good and I have an astigmatism. I might have to put that optic on my 10/22 as well!

Andrew Goody

On that Redoubt, you can always remove the thumb stud and replace it with a zip tie- most Benchmades use a T6 torx and you can pop it right off, it leaves the perfect size hole for a small zip tie to wave deploy

Phillip Robinette McKracken

I think this would be great for my anticipation of WOMG. (World of Many Grounghogs)! I think I can make it thru the frog plague with just my leatherman...and .. wide boots.

T Willys

I own a SLX 1X love it…

Nolan Schwarz

Really excited for the SLX in 5x to come out. Much prefer a fixed mag with red dot over LPVO (which I only shoot at the 1x and 6x and the rest is a waste of weight).

hoplite ⚔️

Interesting review. Thanks for showcasing a product like this.
