Here's another by-request KRV from the donors. The Cold Steel/Demko AD1-15 series seems to have excited many in the knife community. Count me out! That's right, here comes another negative review from your long-time truth dispenser. I'll show you AD-15 attributes that just don't cut it for me and then I'll start piling on. Now if you still love by all means use that link below to get one and be happy!

When Cold Steel Doesn't Hit: Demko AD-15

Nutn turned me onto the Voyager series a few years back and I’ve loved them. CS has done a good job of releasing new blade shapes to keep us coming back. Can’t wait to watch this one!

DudeDudeDude

Before you even mentioned the weight the first thing I noticed that it had light or lite on the blade but looked really heavy. Jimping is too course. I like the spot in the blade to choke up in it with your first finger but even that looks too small to be functional. Looks like lint could get in the lock recess. +1 to star wars being unwatchable now. Went to crap once woke Disney bought them out.

Powernoodle

Nutn + Cold Steel = glory. I have a full drawer of Cold Steel folders, and can't get enough of them. CS has carved out a market niche of their own with little competition, especially in the goofy-big but totally awesome segment.

Moe Mansour

A mini Code 4 would be a great move by CS

Todd Strelka

I'm still loving my Cold Steel Voyager XL. I need to carry it again for old times sake. Thanks for the review, Nutn.

kawicheater

Right there with ya on the Star Wars thing. It’s helped me to mentally compartmentalize between ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Disney Star Wars’

Nutn - sent a message - need address to send Casio G-life watch for review- remember zoom call?

Christopher B.

Dude dude dude! What about the Demko AD20.5 with the Shark Lock?

HappyFrancisMacomber

WOW! Once again Nutn thank you for telling it like it is. There are sooo many great cold steel knives that are over looked by the community and snobs (cough cough, broken skull or Luzon). It’s hard for cold steel to produce a “I don’t like this” knife and I’m with you on this one with the steel / price / hype.

Sajak

Such a great review! Love hearing you rant about blades. Better entertainment than anything on Netflix 😂

MT

Love the KRVs. Best part of TNP!

Dalton

Great stuff! I’m a Voyager Vaquero Dude for 10 years strong now 😎🤙

Ryan Reese

Yeah man, we’re very fortunate to have CS in the market. Their big blades are unrivaled. I would like to take the time to call out Nutn for not pulling out an Espada XL in this KRV 😏 Although it didn’t really have a place and it’s definitely not a competitive option… he used to bring out the Espada in like every other KRV. I was really looking forward to seeing it today.

DuginIN

Blade HQ has Hogue Counterstrike OTF Auto. G-10 + Aluminum handle. Dark Earth with back Tanto blade is what I’m considering.

Andrew Gough

Love the humor in the intro.. well done

Bravo

Oof, theres my requested vid showing up… nervous to watch this. I might have to wave the 2nd cool flag to justify my like for the blade after this i watch this vid haha.

Andrettski

Agreed, not everyone likes big knives, but I do. I take my CS tanks when I'm camping, I don't backpack anymore so weight isn't an issue.

Andrettski

Got my full size S35VN OD green one for $123 on Botach Tactical. This isn't an EDC knife, we get it, but I still like it for a camp beast knife. I just took the clip off, totally useless IMO.

Andrettski

2nd cool all the way Bravo

Andrettski

Literally just got an email from MidwayUSA, they have this AD-15 Lite and the Max-4 Scout for $49.99 if anyone's interested.

Andrettski

BTW, DEVO is great, fantastic creative music, very influential.

Jordan Embry

You're not the only one who loves it. I've got two and want more. I love the lock and took me two minutes max to get the action perfected and committed to muscle memory

Bravo

Right on. I havent even had a chance to watch a 10 min vid td, work has been crazy today. But I know nutn and im sure he rails heavily on it being heavy for the 3.5 blade. But I don’t think (keeping in mind that’s i haven’t handled one yet) I don’t think he can nock the build quality or strength on this blade.

Dalton

I can attest to that! I fight boxes&packaging all the time lol 😎🤙🇺🇸

Plumber Angelo

Cold steel missed the mark with this one.

Bravo

I think when cold steel uses the term Lite they purely mean the materials are cheaper, otherwise they would have called it the AD-15 Lightweight or light.

Bravo

Last blade I owned or purchased that you ragged on and hated (or at least were super un-enthused by.) Was the CRKT woods kangee t hawk. (That was years ago now) You said it too was too heavy and was more expensive than the cold steel counterparts etc all that stuff. However I STILL stand by that tomahawk and my opinions of it. It IS the best tomahawk for woods use. I have used it for years now and it has held up amazingly. It is still far lighter and more packable than an axe. And steel quality and finish quality is miles ahead of the cold steel hawks. So I think this will just be yet another blade we disagree on. (Which of course is fine, that is bound to happen) I grant you it is too heavy for the size, however im less in tune with that than you are. i usually carry a 5.5 inch talwar or espada daily and an olight m2r warrior pro with the 21700 batt. (With an assortment of other blades and useful crap with me) so it is clear that I prioritize firepower and capability over being super lightweight. And as to the looks of the blade. I find it has the same beauty that a Glock does. People say the Glocks are ugly and iv always thought opposite. Something about the blocky squared off lines of those i just find beautiful. (The same does not apply to women about blocky and square lines being appealing! 🤣) Anyway thanks for filling my review request. I was still entertained. Stay sharp Nutn’.

Bravo

Well id say both. Because the spike on that ax is excellently done and is perfect (and easily resharpanable). And is very useful for digging dakota fire, digging for fishing bait in a survival situation. If you for whatever reason need to break into a car or house. But you can still hammer with the side if you need a hammer in a pinch.

Bravo

Also picking up logs with the spike side around the fire to save your knees a little.
