I take you to frigid in-field conditions for this episode of "Is It Still Awesome." Temp is a balmy 15º, the Titan with its Baja Designs LED lights provides the lighting, and Chad from KelTec is here fighting to stay warm. This Floridian freezes up quick and has to retreat to the heated cab. Sean the TNPr is helping me do this KSG shooting as the snow flies.

Lots of rounds fly and some surprising developments ensue... we're always learning. I'll mention the S&W M&P12 which has completed testing at the time of editing and it is also highly recommended. #4 Buckshot makes a stand out there too. Brought to you by long term donors to TNP.

Good stuff Papa Nutn. Looking forward to that comparison.

Robert Plested

90 degrees and higher in Savannah for I don't know how long. Seeing y'all in snow makes me happy.

Before you mount the new vfg, look into the high tech custom vfg rail. It uses the whole ksg pic rail, and uses it to mount an aluminum rail. I've heard of guys snapping the plastic pic rail section right off of the shotgun.

Moe Mansour

Surprisingly still legal in Canada. I need to get one of these.

kawicheater

Thank you much for putting this one together , especially on cold windy night

Todd Strelka

I love the KSG. I had the opportunity to shoot Nutnfancy's KSG back in 2016. See the photo I uploaded in the Community section of Patreon.

Matthew Hargis

I love it when Chad visits the channel. Hopefully no Bear scat was sighted. Hilarious! Thanks Nutn.

The Nutnfancy Project

He got luck this time, they were in hibernation. I'll post another video on this outing where Chad is having phone sex with his girl in the cab while Sean and I are cleaning up

You have me really thinking about having a KSG. And a vertical grip made from 6161-T6. Thank you.

I wish it wasn’t $800! That’s a lot of cheddar to drop on a pump shotgun and the main reason I still haven’t picked one up. I think at $500 more dudes would make it happen. Definitely a cool gun, but I would rather spend my 800 bucks elsewhere. Thanks for the vid!

Matthew Sinn

I run one of Holosun’s green circle-dots on my KS7. I think it’s the 503GU. Fantastic sight, almost feels like cheating. Great video Nutn.

Chris Kales

Yeah, I agree...the KSG is still awesome. I've really enjoyed mine all these years. It packs a wallop on your shoulder even with the upgraded butt pad from Keltec, but I can't help but love the gun. I threw a Trijicon ACOG TA44 on it a few years ago and that combination has worked great for me. Nutn, I have been enjoying your IISA videos lately and was wondering...do you still have the same love for the Keltec SU16 series of rifles or the RDB survival? I, like you, really liked the SU16CA model, but haven't been able to find one for quite a few years.

Eric J Beggs

I appreciate all the effort; holy hell! I still remember Sean from Soldier Boy without any .223 lol! He’s the best thing to happen to the project outside of family. Will have to pick up a KSG.

Paul Kwiatkowski

Nice job. I enjoyed seeing the problems too.

TNSheep

KSG is SOOOO friggen heavy.

CBlaster 1

Damn that looks cold.

Any off camera comments from Chad on the broken grip? Obviously the grip was the point of failure not the KSG but everybody buying these will want a VG. Is the rail on the foregrip rated for a VG? Are there recommended VGs from kel tec that have been through an engineering analysis and are safe to use? I don't see this information provided by KT (I may have missed it). Online forums (questionable reliability) have a few people who had a VG snap off like this and at least one incident where someone allegedly shot their hand as it continued forward of the muzzle and they accidentally squeezed the trigger catching the gun. Even in this video you can see Nutn's hand go in front of the muzzle, fortunately he either had an empty chamber or didn't pull the trigger...

Scott Nelson

Definitely still an amazing shotgun. Right now I'm in a cross between a Mossberg 590a1 or the KSG (need to reverify that it is legal in my state - I love Illinois....). A question for you all - I've never ran a red dot on a shotgun but it is something that I would like to do with my next one. What is the best way to zero a shotgun with a red dot? Primary purpose is defensive in nature and most likely be using 00 buck. Thanks and you all stay safe!

Todd Davis

In every video of these that I watch, I notice a lot of dry fires on an empty chamber. I can't help but feel that the lack of visibility of the chamber and the more complex loading mechanism make this unsuitable for a defensive role. Could possibly be overcome with more deliberate training on the platform though.
