An efficient review on the  Crimson Trace CTS-1550 3.5 MOA sight mounted on a Canik TP9 METE. While it has a polymer frame I have found this sight to be completely serviceable and durable. I review the 5 MOA version here but wish I'd got the 3.5 MOA dot. This is an ideal host for proving the value of this small, low cast red dot pistol sight. I'll talk a bit about the POU on it too!

I haven’t ventured into optics on my carry pistols yet. I guess I’m late to that party.

Springfield Armory just came out with a new slide for their XD9. It includes a CT just like this one, it's okay, not the best but for what 99% of us do it's probably perfect.

My fave pistol red dot is the Primary Arm ACSS version of the Holosun 507. Love the ACSS chevron with the circle.

Looking forward to watching this. I don't have any optics ready pistols, but I've been shooting some of my friend's/cousin's and I'm warming up to the idea. I've also had a Crimson Trace weapon light for a year or so and really like it.

Thanks for the review. CT is pure chinesium, but makes decent gear. I've gotten a lemon before but it was replaced quickly.

Thanks Nutn! Not a big optic pistol guy either but appreciate the review

Thanks again Nutn. I love when the Caniks come out in the project. Ever since your initial review back in ‘14 I joined the bandwagon immediately and now own a bunch. Love them. I actually want an OG Canik55 TP9 for the collection. My first being the SA. You called it too…several have optics. Holosun and Riton were my picks. Thanks again…Long time member and donor…Lt Col Sharkey…God Bless.

Not as "game-changing" as red-dots on rifles...but still a plus when shooting on the move, making hits past 100 feet or once your eyes start aging. 👍🏼

More pistol red-dot reviews please. Red-dots now take up 2 cabinets at my local gun store...it's crazy.

The microsecond that the #NeoMarxusts in #NewYorkistan are defeated in the many lawsuits winding there way through the circuit courts, and I can safely exercise my inalienable rights to defend myself, my family, my community, and my country with the protections guaranteed by the #2ndAmendment, I'm going to have my G19, G48, and my FN509-Mid milled to mount 6MOA red dots on each of them... Not only do I have "Old Guy" eyes, I have a pretty handicapping astigmatism. The red dots I have on my CQB carbines still have a bit of halo around them, but not enough to cause a lack of threat acuisition outta to 50 meters. Anything longer and I'm grabbing my bolt gun, which I have zero problems hitting the X-ring with. Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum... Sic Semper Tyrannis, JudgeGarry

I bought the Canin TP9-SFX after watching the review. Since they are Walther knock-offs, they have the same great triggers and fit in my Walther holsters. Plus, it came with a Vortex Viper red dot on it. Thanks Nutn.

I wish I would've got a Canik Shark FS way back. I have the SA and got the Elite Combat about 3 years ago, love 'em. Want the Rival.

Bluegill097

I also picked up the TP9SFX with the viper RD a few years ago. It’s my only pistol with an optic and I basically use it as a training gun for the type so I can practice picking up the dot. So far, I agree, I’ll keep my irons. I would like to get a threaded barrel for I though and see how it runs with my can!

Matthew Hargis

Yep, I remember those. The Elite Combat is great and I highly recommend the Rival if you get a chance to grab one.

Nutn! I’m very grateful to you for letting our voices be heard & focusing your reviews on some of the things we have suggested & hope to see in the near future as loyal TNP’rs. A lot of these new pistol red dots can get pricy. Even the Holosun’s. I knew crimson trace is a very reputable company. I’ve owned past crimson trace products & never had issues. Just never really gave them much thought for red dot options. Affordable options. So again, thank you for this content & giving an honest, great review. I grew up on watching ya man. I’ll never leave Patreon. No matter how I may feel at times. We all have difference of opinions & products we prefer. Money can be a factor when it comes to anything in the 2a community. Especially accessories. Regardless I’m a TNP’r for life. Fortunately I was able to pick up 2 of your TNP Boker Rattlesnakes. I should send one in to get signed. Just haven’t made the effort to do it. None the less. Love ya brotha! Ty

I found that it made it much easier to make hits at distance with a red dot on a pistol. Not like one really need to shoot at targets 60+ yards away. Up close I don't think it really matters. If you can try one on a friend's pistol I'd say go for it but remember there is a learning curve.

Your Glock's rear sight is drifted out of its dovetail.

I've been using the Swamp Fox Liberty with good success. If you'd like to review one let me know, I have a new one sitting in a box just waiting to be sent to ya.

The 1550 was a pretty nice value option. The Rad Pro overall is a better site, but more expensive. It's nice to run the shake to wake stuff vs something like the 1550 which IIRC is a turn on/off thing. And then the Rad Pro comes in the Micro and Max which are both great options. Messing around with some Riton stuff now though.
