Many great PCCs abound and I've shot/reviewed many of them. It would seem the 'ole Marlin Camp rifle is outpaced and should be a forgotten remnant. With its wood stock, bluing,  and machined steel construction it's hardly "tactical." But as we'll discuss the Marlin Camp just keeps getting more popular, not less.

Here in field we'll visit the Marlin Camp rifle TNP cast member, shooting it lots. A run down of current valuations of the Camp are included with some supporting screen shots. We're at my Tropic Thunder shooting location (with desert mountains nearby) for this episode and I'll roll in another beloved competitive options before we end. Brought to you as always by epic donors to TNP!

Why It's Still Awesome: IISA Marlin Camp Carbine

I totally agree. After watching your video on the camp 9 several years ago, I picked one up and it's a favorite not only of mine but of almost anyone looking through the safe. The camp 9 almost always gets picked up. Wood and steel sex appeal!!!!

Love the IISA series. Thanks Nutn!

I’ve always wanted one since I saw the original review but they sure have been spendy. So I was quick to snatch a Henry homesteader up when I saw it since it has a similar vibe. So far the homesteader has run flawless for me. I am curious though, what distance is a good zero for a 9mm carbine? 50? 100?

Andrew Baldwin

How about an IISA on the ten shot S&W 617? Competitive options being the current crop of more- han-average capacity autoloading .22s like the FN 502 and Sig P322?

The camera angle is good 👍Also, this video allowed my cell phone to rotate without stalling 👍

Also, multitasking watches with live fire 🔥 is where it’s at for me.

Gotta love the old bushnell dot. Those things were battery hogs but other than that they were great.

I wish marlin was still putting out what they used to the .22lrs are great guns. What do you think about an IISA on the keltec rdb survival also when is the Beretta apx carry review coming out

Lots of work around the house getting the kids ready for the first day of school tomorrow. Nothing like TNP audio to listen to while getting it done. Thanks for the content. Still loving the WRVs 😉

My Camp 45 never had an issue until Buffer! Installed the stronger of the 2 springs offered. Replaced bolt/h. power custom. midway#403937 1/2"longer, round with a concave surface. Love it.

Forgot to add: same part camp 9 or 45 Blue or SST

Clint Raby

Don't have a PCC currently but I like both of these. Can't wait for the review on the S&W 59 series. PU a police trade in 5906 and I love it.

The Marlin Camp Carbine was great in its day...but I'm a Ruger PC Carbine guy. I'm more into practicality than collectability. PC Carbine takes the cake if for nothing else other than the brilliance of accommodating Glock magazines. Nutn only had one mag for this Marlin test....I'm sure he would have had a tub of Glock magazines to use for a PC Carbine. PC Carbine is also threaded for a can....and cheaper than the AR-9 option. My philosophy of use for the PC Carbine is: #1 - fun!; #2 - training of new shooters. Everyone who I've had try the PC Carbine loves it, especially new shooters. It is always their favorite gun from the trip to the range.

Fun video, excellent time piece. Every time you said Marlin I thought Papoose was the going to be the next word out of your mouth lol

I've included a link to a ballistic chart for 115 grain 9mm. It is relatively flat to 30 yards, then drops off pretty quickly. It looks like a 20 yard zero might be ideal, putting you a fraction of an inch high at 10 yards and a fraction of an inch low at 30 yards. http://gundata.org/blog/post/9mm-ballistics-chart/

Thanks Iowa Dave!

I have a plethora, I'd recommend a PCC for sure if you like plinking steel and 9 has a lot more punch than 22LR. So many options out there. If you're really tight on budget, Kel-Tec Sub 2K, the Extar 9 gets great reviews or the top shelf with perhaps a SIG or B&T. Read Iowa Dave's POU comment below.

Awesome!. I love the classics. I just picked up an 870 PM yesterday from a local gun shop. Wood stock, long tube. Old Georgia Department of Natural Resources gun.

Andrettski

I too, after that GRV, went looking for one and yes found them a bit pricey. Def a collectible.

Unfortunately I live in WA State so I can't keep adding to my collection because of the magazine restriction. Esp if the mags are proprietary to the gun. Also recently got denied to buy a muzzle break, a blast shield and a foregrip which was for a 9mm PCC. The WA law is against ALL dedicated AR or AK parts but they won't differentiate what else it can go on.

Matthew Hargis

Thanks Nutn….yep sign me up for a 59 Series IISA. These are fun videos to watch. Thanks for all the work. -Sharkey

I really love the way you say IISA. I have a daughter named Alyssa. When she was little she would say her name the same way. Great memories!! She’s 26 years old now. I always wanted a camp Carbine in 45. I may have to get one. Been looking at them over the years. Would go great with my several 1911s!!

Harold Galen McPheron

Have the stock laser engraved, then you won't need skateboard tape....

David Spinks

I was thinking the same thing, the Ruger PC Carbine is the quintessential challenger to the Marlin camp, if not the modern reincarnation.

Dude I think we should do Soldier Boy with brassfacts

Drake Tilson

We really need a IISA Glock 26 video! Shot one for the first time today, and was amazed at how it had about half the perceived recoil of my G43X. I also like how I can feed it with G19/G18/G17 magazines as well. I don’t think people should sleep on the G26!

DudeDudeDude

I would love to see how this compares internally to say the Henry homesteader and Ruger PCC.

Love my 45 Camp rifle takes 1911 mags, my dad made a new walnut stock for it last year, and I threw in a new wolf spring and a Bushnell TRS-25, thing is like new now. Slings lead like there's no tomorrow. The gun was waaay ahead of its time to be honest. I bought mine maybe 3 or 4 years ago for $800. I'd like to get one in 9mm as well just been waiting on the right one, the 9mms are much more plentiful than the .45. Always enjoy the "is it still awesome" vids. Because I have made most of my purchases based on your content and advice. Thank you brother.

I have a small collection of 3 of these camp carbines. Currently 2 of the 3 broke down (old rubber buffer crumbled in the action and then the hammer strut broke next). I easily found replacement parts at Numrich but I’ve shelved these Marlins and primarily shoot CMMG MKGS banshees now for high use trigger time. More reliable, more capacity, rotary delay locking action. They are the best PCC for the money in 9mm, 40S&W, 10mm, 45acp. And they suppress well!
