Among others there were two great moments. The first one is when Park Jin asks, why can evil always do what it wants to do without regard for others, but virtue has to prove itself over an over again. The second is when Jang Uk tells the Unanimous Assembly you wanted a world where the powerful dominate the weak, well here ist is. How do you like it?

Finale Time! - I have a bad feeling that one (or both) of them are not gonna make it out of this alive... - Uk and Yeong. Light and Shadow. That's the name of the season! - Jin Bu-yeon will cast the shadow aside. Cast Cho Yeong aside. - Kudos to Jin Mu being so evil, I actually feel sorry for Ho-gyeong. - In all that time it takes Maidservant Kim to convince Park Jin to seal the door, she could easily have escaped. This is dumb. - None of them deserved to go out like this. Not even Jin Ho-gyeong, as much as I despise her. And especially not Kim Yeon and Park Jin. - Wait, what. Uk, are you saying they're NOT dead? - Oh, okay! Well then. - And now they want me to believe that Naksu is gone just like that. Yeah, I don't think so. - Alexa, play Firebird by Galantis - Burn in Hell, Jin Mu. - Fire“bird“ yeah sure, I know a DRAGON when I see one! - Yo, this could go toe to toe with Zelda's Light Arrows. - Knew it! They wouldn't just kill off Naksu so unceremoniously. This is not that kind of show. - Ok, I love this. Heo Yeom wants his granddaughter to become the queen but you see his reaction when that guy tells him that she's seeing someone? ZERO disappointment. Not even for an instant. Only love, support and happiness for her. This man is a treasure. - KING. Not the prince anymore! KING GO WON. Finally. Deserved. - A surprisingly happy ending. Really good show! I will say that I did like season 1 better than season 2. The lighter, more comedic tone. Uk not being literally the strongest motherfucker in the land, but actually having to grow and develop his skills to overcome real obstacles. The guy is just way too OP in S2. Which is cool for the aura but less interesting character wise. Plus, he seemed happier in S1. The second season saw him spend a lot of his time sulking in sadness and being a bit of a dick towards the people around him. Especially Naksu. Speaking of, I also much prefer Mu-deok Naksu over Bu-yeon Naksu. The sass, the sarcasm, her being a real tough master on Uk, forcing him to grow too. Bu-yeon Naksu spends most of her time as an amnesiac and thus is a much less engaging character. She's a blank slate, mostly. Just sucking up all the emotional outbursts of Uk. There are moments where her original personality breaks through and even more so when she FINALLY regains her memories (took her long enough) but she never quite goes back to where she was in S1. And one last thing about Naksu: I really wish we could have gotten more from her in her original assassin outfit, as played by Go Younjung. That was BY FAR her coolest look and the fact that the first half of episode 1 is pretty much all we ever get from that is CRIMINAL. All the flashback scenes feature the younger actress who is cool but just doesn't have the same aura as Go Younjung. And while S2 did bring Younjung back full time, she only ever wears these big dresses. I know it wouldn't make sense from a story perspective to put her back into the assassin outfit but still, I just wanted more of that! I wanna say some positives though. The worldbuilding is damn strong. The fantasy world and its magic system are made so believable. I love so many of the characters. Maidservant Kim is a treasure, so is Heo Yeom. Park Jin may be an idiot when it comes to relationships but a tactical mastermind, with strong convictions, an unshakable moral compass, and an amazing leader for Songrim. Master Lee is so damn interesting (even if I got hella annoyed with his constant withholding of information in S2 😅) Prince Go Won is the absolute GOAT. So happy he became king in the end! And kudos to Jin Mu for being one of the best and most hateable villains I've ever seen. THANK YOU to the writers for not making him morally gray and complex, with some kind of tragic backstory. The motherfucker is just plain evil from head to toe. Simple in his alignment. I appreciate that. I'm very sure there won't be a season 3. This ending feels very conclusive and seeing as there was only a 3.5 month break between the end of season 1 and the start of season 2, both seasons were most likely conceived and planned together, and filmed back to back. It's now been three years since the finale aired and nothing more has been in the works as far as I'm aware. Alchemy of Souls was most likely always planned to have these 30 episodes and no more.

I recall seeing the behind the scenes of the wedding scene and how emotional it was for the actors, the male actor for Jang Uk teared up during it...such a sweet love story in this drama
