Sascha

Sadly I feel like the use of the inner monologue/voice during the sign language parts is necessary from a production POV since viewers in this modern age we're living in don't focus on the screen all the time, so they dont always read the subs (since not everyone is a seasoned K-content veteran like us who's used to rely on subtitles lol). And in this show there would've been too much dialogue that's just mute, so I think they didnt really have much of a choice than to do it this way.

The actress who plays Cheongah is Shin Eunsoo and no she's not an idol, but you might have seen her in a recent MV, she featured in Monsta X Joohoney's Push MV (Rei from Ive was the feature artist on the song). Before she debuted she was a JYP trainee for both singing and acting & she also hosted Inkigayo for like half a year in 2019.

- At this point I do understand why the parents are mute. It's very much a storytelling decision. Contrasting the loud and boisterous pre-accident Yi-chan. And as I said before, while deaf-mute people are an extreme minority, they do exist. It's just that most movies/shows I've seen just assume that deaf people can't talk and make them mute for no good reason. I'm super tired of that stupid trope, that's why I complained about it. - I do wonder if this time travel story is deterministic or not. If Eun-gyeol is even able to prevent his dad's accident. Or if it's inevitable. - Theory: Eun-gyeol will, over the course of the show, leave such an impression on Yi-chan, that he goes on to name his son after him. Naming his son after his son. Very Doctor Who. - I understand how Yi-chan gets that impression that Eun-gyeol might be into him. But knowing the actual truth would probably freak him out even more 😅 - No, Shin Eun-soo, the actress playing Chung-ah is not an idol. Though she does have a certain idol-ish look to her indeed. - Yes, Demon Slayer! I was kinda hoping that you'd do that one after JJK :D - Oh no. Poor Yi-chan is gonna be so heartbroken when he finds out that Se-gyeong is already gone. - Hmm. Maybe not? I'm getting a bit confused about Se-gyeong's familial status. Since future Se-gyeong refers to Grandpa Viva as her dad, but past Se-gyeong says her dad is a physics professor. Has it something to do with the fact that she's adopted? Maybe the music store owner is her biological father and the physics professor is the adoptive dad? That's the only way I can make it make sense in my head. Because the man in her family portrait looks nothing like Grandpa Viva. - Yo, how tf did he get so good so fast? - Surprisingly dark. All that pressure from her mum made Se-gyeong suicidal. That's the reason for her sudden shift in demeanor. She decided to actually go through with it and since nothing matters anymore, she's just going wild. Of course we do know that she keeps living because she's still around in the future. But now here's something interesting: adult Se-gyeong mentioned her first love being someone from a band. Could it possibly be Eun-gyeol she's talking about? - I've directly witnessed people being extremely ignorant about deaf people being deaf but come on, Yi-chan. You've met her several times, how did you not notice anything?? - What an idiot. - Possible inconsistency? The flashbacks suggest that Eun-gyeol always knew that his dad wasn't born deaf, right? So why was he so surprised when he met Yi-chan in 1995 and found out that he was indeed neither deaf nor mute? - Yup, there it is. I was thinking about this but haven't mentioned it so far: preventing your dad from going deaf is also gonna prevent your own birth. Back to the Future, kinda. It was the same with my parents. They only met because they were both deaf. It was a national Deaf tennis tournament where they first got to know each other. There's lots of Deaf communities here in Germany. Shared language and all that. They're very connected with each other. If my dad didn't have that accident as a toddler or my mum hadn't been born with impaired hearing, then they wouldn't have attended a Deaf tennis tournament, right? And then I also wouldn't exist. - „When life gives you lemons“ I prefer tangerines, personally. - Okay what the shit is happening now
