I'm glad I can finally share my pain and frustration about Cheongha's family. These days you would probably call these characters generational rage baiters :D I warned you about how infuriating her step mother can be lol she's probably one of the worst "parent" type of character I've ever seen in kdramas, which is saying a lot lol Eungyeol's inability to act like he's not from the future is driving me crazy, even on a rewatch, like man how hard can it be to adress your parents or any person you know with their names instead of "mom" or "dad" or something weird in general.

What the fuck are you trying to do here? - This is legitimately hard to watch. An onslaught of horrible insufferable people the likes of which I haven't seen since The Glory. - I've mentioned this before but my deaf dad suffered some pretty bad abuse at his boarding school. And he himself was also not able to speak any actual German out loud until he was 11 years old. This scene is hitting way too close for me. - That too. Sign language was also forbidden at my dad's boarding school. GREAT FUCKING HELP FOR HIM TO LEARN SHIT, RIGHT??????? I'm so fucking mad right now. My dad's family didn't know about this stuff btw. So when his uncle found out, he freaked the fuck out, immediately drove to the school and properly cussed them out. And good on him for that. I never got to know my dad's uncle but he seemed like a good man. - Pro tip: learning lip reading is infinitely easier with the help of sign language. I'm not kidding. - The father seems... okay? I hope? - I've heard some truly terrible „angel“-type pickup lines. But this was a new low. - After the horribleness that is Cheong-ah's family, I'm just happy we're getting some light hearted fun with Eun-yu and Eun-gyeol. If only they knew 😅 - Interesting. The Korean „thank you“ sign is very different from the German one. - Ohh, did they make Eun-gyeol Cheong-ah's tutor? - Really? It's like that, huh? The optics of having a deaf daughter are apparently worse than the optics of having a completely nonverbal daughter who is mostly incapable of most regular human interaction because you are actively taking away her ability to communicate. Okay then. Fuck you. - Eh, parts of this are unfortunately quite realistic. I don't wanna get into too much detail but there are a lot of reasons why my mum has gone no-contact with her mother. My grandma is a narcissist, plain and simple. And she saw the fact that her daughter is deaf as some kind of humiliation to her status and character. Like it's somehow shameful to have a disabled child. - Ah, the alphabet seems to be the same between German and Korean Sign Language. Interestingly, he's spelling out his name in Latin characters, basically. - If I was her, I would be so confused why this random dude, whom I barely know, sits down in front of me and starts crying 😅 - „Signing will make her happy? What kind of logic is this?“ The logic of BEING FUCKING ABLE TO ACTUALLY TALK TO PEOPLE, YOU SICK FUCK. - Seriously, the fact that my dad was basically completely cut off from the hearing world, in the sense of communication, was always a great source of distress for him. He was always happiest and most comfortable in the deaf community. Where everyone speaks the same language that he did. - You get it! If I moved to Spain and didn't learn Spanish, I would be quite unhappy indeed. Because not having a language with which to talk to the people around you is extremely socially isolating. I sometimes read posts from (mostly American) immigrants in Germany who don't make an effort to learn German and then complain about how lonely they feel here. Yeah, no shit, Sherlock. - The chairman is still an asshole but he can be reasoned with, at least. In that family, you have to take what you can get. - Colonising her soul, damn that goes hard. - Hey, that's not actually her mum. Not even her potential alternate-universe mum. For my money, it's completely fine for Eun-gyeol and Eun-yu to have a thing - „I love you, you're the only one in the world for me, Ha Eun-gyeol“ the way this must sound to Eun-yu and everyone else here 😂 - THE PLOT THICKENS.
