Hey guys, I have been dragging this thought for the past 5-6 months because I promised myself when I started this Patreon that I will not increase the prices but it has proven to be an incredibly difficult promise to keep due to some financial struggles. I wanted to get your honest thoughts on this subject, I may have thought about increasing the price of the main tier from 5 to 6/6.5 dollars with the context of anyone who's already a member maintaining their original price (if you're an existing member, you won't get a price increase, only if you cancel and then resubscribe), the new price would only affect new subscribers.

Increasing prices is honestly something that scares me, it scared me back when I was an editor and the anxiety I experienced in anticipation of getting rejected by a long time client due to said increase really messed with me. But much like then, I felt like it was necessary, and it might be a necessity now.

But I wanted to get your opinion first, as subscribers and supporters and whether the value/content that is provided can be validated by a slight price increase.

Thank you :)

EDIT - Wow, thank you for the amazing support, you guys definitely made it easier for me to pull the trigger on this and maybe even increase the price to 7 as opposed to the initial 6 (this is not a 67 meme I swear). I know this may have been a weird post to make but I legitimately wanted to see how you would feel and if the increase would be justifiable because I tend to sell myself short in most aspects lol so I couldn't make the decision on my own, you guys helped a ton! 🫶

For clarification- The price increase will NOT affect those are already subscribed, it will affect new members only, and the only way it affects existing members is if they cancel and resubscribe in the future :)

Sounds totally fair!

Teish

I have no problems with it do whatever you need to do🫶🏽

rainicity

Personally I have no qualms about the price increase so long as it justifies the amount and quality of content I signed up for, which is more than enough for me currently. Thank you for being honest with us!

Shellsey

I’m honestly surprised that you have kept your price so low all this time. I have absolutely no problems with you raising the price. I don’t even mind the increase for me as an existing member. I honestly even feel like $6 is still low. I know you want to keep it low. But I’m sure people will still subscribe if you raise it to $10. Which is still cheap. To compare I subscribe to two other, one at $15 and one at $25 and people still pay it.

Hanna

I am actually surprised the price is so low for such good content. I don’t think anyone would mind given the amount of effort you put in!

Daniel Goland

I really wanted to stick to it and just "tough it out" but it has become too much... thank you so much 🫶🙏 Edit - Wow yeah I know that there's some very high tiers out there and it definitely gives me some confidence to increase my own prices, but cosidering that I've always had the same price for 4+ years, to increase it by 100-150% would feel too drastic. I don't think I'd go higher than $6.5 unless I was able to give extra value that I haven't before (whether it's live streams or requests or something like that) I absolutely appreciate the fact that some would still subscribe if I had a major increase but I just don't feel confident in myself, that's the honest truth and that's a strictly "me" kind of problem haha!

Shellsey

I see where you’re coming from. But from my experience with who I subscribe to. The one I subscribe to for $25 doesn’t post nearly as much as you. Granted he does go live, but he doesn’t post as much as you do. But nonetheless I will still be a member with whatever price you choose.

Daniel Goland

I really appreciate that! Thank you so much! And BTW, I know you specifically asked about the Taemin Coachella stage and I didnt forget, had some delays but I hope to do it next week at the latest!

Shellsey

No problem. You always follow through. Take your time

I'd happily pay $10 a month. A lot of other patreons have multiple tiers of memberships. While I appreciate the simplicity of a single affordable tier and I fully support you increasing the price of the current tier. You could maybe add a second tier at $10 and put some of the less popular content behind it. Maybe that will offset the opportunity cost to spend so much time filming earth arcade. Overall I've always been really happy with the quality and quantity of content on this patreon.

Marcel Wannieck

Compared to most other Patreons out there, yours is insanely cheap. Given the amount of content you put out, I honestly believe even a jump to $8 or $10 would be completely justified.

As someone who is here on and off because there are months when I am not able to be online and I don't see the point in paying something that I don't use, an increase is totally fair, like yes, I would pay a higer price next time and it's okay because that is the market. Tbh, only the fact that you stayed with the same low cost for a long time is something, like there were times when I tried new tiers from certain reactors for a way higher price and the content was shit, I'm sure it happened to everyone at some point, the point is that you definitely deserve it. Also, English is not my first language, hope it's clear.

Marcel Wannieck

I've also sometimes thought about how I would structure and price my own Patreon IF I were a reactor. I'm not going to because I'm really not interesting on camera but it's fun to think about this sometimes 😄 This is what I would do with my own hypothetical Patreon: - Album & Bonus Video Tier - $2: Album reactions would be Patreon exclusive (Youtube only gets music videos) and also any reactions that would be on Youtube but can't for some reason (got blocked etc.) go here. Potentially bonus stuff like performance videos as well. This tier is also included in all the higher tiers - Live Stage Tier - $5: It's in the name, innit. Any live stages, be that the regular music shows, the award shows or even entire concerts. - Variety Tier - $5: Also self explanatory. Variety shows, interviews and all that. - TV Show Tier - $5: I would have four different shows running concurrently: One Kdrama, one western live action show, one anime and one western cartoon. All that is included in this tier. Also the occasional movie every now and then. The three $5 tiers are mutually exclusive btw. If you subscribe to the variety tier, you won't get access to live stages. If you want everything, there's this: - All Access - $10: Includes everything above. And as a bonus, this is the only tier that also gives access to survival shows, which are not included anywhere else. I've also thought about what kinda schedule I would do, if I were to do this full time. - Mon: One episode each of a Kdrama and a western live action show - Tue: Two artist-specific variety shows. One for girl groups and one for boy groups. Stuff like tripleS Badge War, Dreamcatcher Mind or SKZ Code. Always doing one season at a time and switching to a different group/artist once the season is done. - Wed: Survival shows. One episode per week. - Thu: General variety and interview shows. This is where one-off appearances on shows like Weekly Idol, Lee Mujin Service, Showterview or even Running Man go. Stuff like that. Very loose about what exactly I'd check out, but always two videos every week. - Fri: Animated shows. I'd have one anime and also one western cartoon. You know, shows like Invincible, Gravity Falls, Bojack Horseman, etc. Always doing two episodes of each show every week. - Saturdays are open for movie and concert reactions, or when that time comes, award shows and stuff like Coachella and Lollapalooza sets. But only one reaction per week maximum. There might be weeks where Saturdays stay empty, depending on how much time/energy I have that week. That's 9 - 10 scheduled Patreon reactions every week. Albums and one-off live stages (Mcountdown etc) are off schedule and get uploaded whenever I have them ready. A lot of thought going into something that I have no intention of actually doing 😅

Mikaela Rosenström

With the amount of high quality content that you provide, I def not see any issues with it. It only sounds totally fair! 😊

Tara

I agree with the others that you can increase. If you wanted you could do multiple tiers to keep it accessible, and have those who can pay more opt in to do so, but your content quantity and quality absolutely justifies a higher price.

Daniel Goland

This is more planning than I ever done for nearly anything in my life lmao, you may not want to be a reactor but you could be a manager or producer at the very least to other creators. Although, with your knowledge of kpop I would subscribe to a reaction channel if you had one 😄

BMG1900

It’s ok to me

Marcel Wannieck

Leave it to me to completely overthink stuff 😂

BornABeBang

I unsubscribed a day and resubscribed today just to adjust the payment day and price is increased. What the heck of the timing 🤣. But I am totally fine because I love your reaction. The vibe, content, humor cord, etc.

Clare 💕

I only very recently joined, but have already binge watched your reactions to It's Okay To Not Be Okay, Kingdom Legendary War and Uncanny Counter S1. I think it's very good value for money, even with an increase, as you have tons of content I will be watching.

fabrice maire

- I'm not really sure. Let's say that if it doesn't affect your long-time subscribers, as you say, but only new ones, you won't lose any subscribers. However, it might be risky to not gain many more. - Take my own case, for example. If many people are like me and subscribed to several Patreon channels, it's going to be expensive. But if most are only subscribed to your channel, it won't be a problem.

mikkj1

I'm late, and I haven't read all the posts, but have you considered adding higher tiers? There are people who are doing well financially who would pay more just to support you. It wouldn't hurt to add a $10 tier, for instance, that you could have some content that they'd get early access to. I think others would understand and know that that content would still be available to them after a delay. As far as a $1 raise, I don't see it making any real difference. Other content creators are routinely charging more than you do, so it's likely to still seem like a fair price.

Daniel Goland

I feel kinda bad lmao what timing 😅 but I really appreciate you still subscribing! Means a lot 🙏

Daniel Goland

It might be something for the future. I feel bad splitting the entire library of content behind separate paywalls and then making people pay double the price to get everything. Again, it's more to do with me as a "me problem" and not being able to fully commit out of fear or something like that. I can see myself introducing a new tier in the future that might cost double or more, but it will include something new that I haven't had before (like requests or a live stream, something that will truly distinguish the tier from the other one), and that's when a much higher price will make more sense in my head :)| Thank you, Jared! I really appreciate your support, your continuous support!!

Daniel Goland

I appreciate that! I remember loving season 2 of UC even more than S1 so it should be a fun watch!! 🖤

Liliah L

Thank you for being transparent with us. As for tre price increase i totally have no problem with it with the amount and quality of content that you provide. Thank you for your hard work!

Daniel Goland

It's probably my best bet for the future to introduce a 2nd tier that could be 10 or more $$, but only when I can truly offer something that I haven't before :) And thank you!! Always appreciate your support!

Star Dust

I don't think that increase is unreasonable at all. 👍 Maybe do multi tiers in some way? Like a "just kpop" tier and then a "kpop and kdramas" tier. And so on. So increase price and content each tier. Some creators have a special high priced tier and those people get something extra special.

Star Dust

You could also add a little "buy me a coffee" style donation tier. No extra content, just extra money because someone wants to give you a little boost.

Daniel Goland

I've had a BMC page for 2+ years now actually, I never promote but it's in every single one of my YT video descriptions lol Ans thank you for the support 🙏
