Listener favorite @SrBrocialist joins us on a bonus episode exploring the history of MMA in the US, starting with the Dojo Wars, then discussing Count Dante, the Gracies, and finally, the absolute horrid state of things with Dana White at the helm. This was recorded before the purchase of UFC by WWE...if you guys like this one we can have Patrick back on to talk about that soon!

THIS IS MY EPISODE IT WAS MADE FOR ME. Seriously as someone with about 28 years in various martial arts, I am so glad I got out of MMA. Like my dojo that I had been attending since I was 4 started offering BJJ when I was 19, and the influx of assholes worse than the assholes I already had to deal with. We went through like three instructors during the year before I quit out altogether. But I try to keep my ear to the ground, especially because one of my favorite boxers and hometown hero Holly Holm is having a successful career. Also on the school factionalism thing, that culture is still alive and well in the US, the martial arts community here is kind of a hot mess on the level of The Real Housewives.

irish martial arts is like that anime screencap that goes "throwing dynamite isn't a martial art!" "hey as long as it works"
