Unfortunately, I was not able to get a build ready but I am working on one! In fact you may get a couple builds! unfortunately due to all the various changes and fixes every aspect already made needs retesting. For example, switching from UITK from uGUI had multiple knock-on effects since uGUI was also used for smaller things here and there like the VN styled things.

Lets get into the overall work done this month...

What's been done

The biggest task this month was tackling an issue that's been a growing problem for years. In short Naomi's model is very old, old rig, old skinning, multiple outfit items made at different times. I mentioned the prefab issue, but that was just the start every asset needed to be re-exported.

Due to updates and improvements to the Naomi body, EVERY item needed the skinning redone and some cases models updated. This meant redoing the weight painting on 100+ models. This has been done! Some Agent assistance helped automate some aspects cutting down on the time needed.

124+ assets were re-exported, including some new items I had previously made but haven't made textures for. Maybe I'll get to them next month.

The asset setup has been reworked to support extra bones, meaning new hair styles, tails, or other extremities can be added with physics and such. This was not possible before because of the old setup causing conflicts (in short i kinda baked in the hair and tail, so adding more was complicated).

I'm also updating the dress up system to support simple parenting, some items got removed due to the first system supporting that and the next system not. With the move to Magica Cloth 2 I had to do a custom dress up code so now there's room to handle it.

This is the last big "Debt" after replacing DoozyUI, the last task here is reconfiguring the cloth sim for each of these.

As part of these changes Naomi's thighs jiggle now 😌

One thing i've had agents help with is editor windows for item configuration and such. This aims to speed up adding new items in the future!

"DRESS UP!" And WebGL...

I've said for a while now Our Apartments code base has always been designed to work with potentially new characters and such. "DRESS UP!" is part of that work.

At the moment the UI is functional it's effectively a special build mode like the previous "Dress Up Builds" I did before. This project is basically the same code base with some different goals.

Not intended to have a progression system so whatever available items are unlocked

You pick a pose and select outfits

You can select various scenes that either play animation loops, dialogue driven scenes, or other kinds of sequences (I plan to make some new tools)

Sex Sim may become an option but currently is not a planned feature of these releases

Support for vertical and horizontal presentation

In short these are similar to the old "sample demo". These releases are at least for now intended to be released for free on PC, Web and Android! I may even do SFW versions.

I cannot do these WebGL builds until I upgrade to unity 6.6 due to features, I need (which is a big reason why I stopped doing WebGL was feature needs). So right now I'm getting everything working as best I can (focusing on the main Our Apartment game atm) then we'll try upgrading to the alpha.

Expect two builds very soon, one of Our Apartment as usual with the UITK transition complete, and one of "DRESS UP!" initially featuring Naomi then other characters. Main issue is confirming things work, then packaging for other projects.

Conclusion

I know these past few months haven't been great content wise, but I'm glad to resolve these debt issues to ensure things go smoothly. Hopefully the release of WebGL again brings in more support! I'm still reeling from the itch thing...

That's all for now...

Thank you for your support and patience,
