Currently working on chapter 77

Another two weeks where the wordcount feels a little low, but I still finished three chapters per week. I mentioned on the last Guardian Angel chapter that I haven't had as much time to write lately, but I'm hoping that will change by next week. Of course, then I'll be away visiting family for most of November, with no idea how much time I'll have for writing and editing between sightseeing and hanging out.

This is why we need backlogs.

On that point, I'm strongly considering adding a $9 tier where I just post everything I have as I finish editing it. My backlog right now is something like 20 chapters, but the editing debt is considerable. Mostly I'm concerned about how much work would be involved in keeping posts up-to-date if I do any new edits before releasing chapters to the 8-ahead tier. Still kinda new to this. I'd love to hear what you think about this idea, though.

I'm also still toying with the idea of bumping the release schedule to three times per week, but that will have to wait until I know that I have time for the additional editing time that'll be required. But I can't just keep growing the backlog forever, and I honestly don't want to write less than I am now. We'll see!

Love y'all

I'd advise against splitting your readership ind different tears. In m, opinion, it feels a bit ... Corporate. And 9$ a month is kind of a lot to ask for a single author subscription imo. It's like one month Netflix. I don't know if enough people subscribe to a more expensive option that it will be worth the extra hassle for you of wierd editing, fumbling with Patreon and effectively not having a backlog.

Have you considered picking up an editor? That might lower the burden on you a bit.

Hey! Completely missed this question, sorry! I haven't considered an editor so far. Two reasons, really. First, and most relevant, I don't think that Draka is at a stage where I can justify the cost and the stress of involving another person. I'm much more interested in getting a proper cover done before I consider anything else. Second, the final edits before I publish is still where I do some of my final changes. That's not exactly best practice, I'm sure, but I keep finding places where I don't like my choice of words and I just can't help myself. If I were to try to publish Draka as a book, I'd have to get an editor, but I'll keep going it alone for the forseeable future.

I dunno about proper editor madness, but I used to work with a couple translator groups and most of the editors and proofreaders just like... sprung up from the grass and usually worked unpaid just cause they enjoyed the story. Of course that doesn't mean FREE cause heaven knows there is a social cost for that kind of stuff. *You have to do that nasty thing called communicate with them* I just figured that might end up being an option for you to look into, if you can find the green grass for it.
