Week of 23/10 - 29/10: 10680 words
Currently working on chapter 83
Got a whole lot done these two weeks! About 22700 words on Draka, as well as about 7500 words on Guardian Angel and 5300 words on a (yet another) new project I'm playing around with, averaging over 17000 words per week total. Pretty intense, by my standards, but very enjoyable!
Considering what I've said about Guardian Angel in the last two reports, I've gotten a lot of work done on that story lately, and feel like I've found a direction for it. Since I'm still writing three or four chapters of Draka per week despite my backlog, I think I'll try to dedicate some more writing time to my side projects. Of course, when I tried that yesterday it still ended with me writing nearly 1000 words on Draka, so... I'll try.
Next week I'll be going away to visit family for the rest of November. I'll be spending extra time editing this week, so that I can schedule everything for those weeks and the first week of December. I'll have my laptop with me and it's not like I won't have internet access, but, again, visiting family. No idea how much time I'll have for writing and posting, so I'd rather be prepared.
I'm writing this right after chapter 59, the Makanna interlude, goes up. Reactions to chapter 58 were... mixed. I imagine it will be the same with chapter 59, and then we'll see how it goes from there. It's sad to see readers go, and I suspect that I did a poor job of either setting expectations for the tone of the overall story, or the change was too abrupt. With a few years more experience and some beta readers I might have done things differently, but for now I can only hope that those of you who are not put off by the change continue to enjoy the story.
For those who are: I understand, and thank you for the time you spent reading Draka. Maybe we'll see each other again if Guardian Angel gets to the point where I start publishing it on RR!
