Hello everybunny!
Today we'll show you how the Hamtaro plush restoration turned out!
As you know, we're doing a series of classes where we show how to care and restore plushies. In the first one we washed our Raichu plush, something we do every year. But for the second and thrid classes, we wanted to make something more interesting and different.
So last Saturday, we started this restoration in class. We hand washed it beforehand, and in the class, we brushed and removed dust and pilling, but we also had a big challenge. This plushie's fur was VERY used. You can see the photos when it arrived and that, even after washing, it still was matted and messy. Usually, by brushing it carefully you can recover most of the hair. But in this case even after brushing it was still messy. So we tried out our new tool that we showed last week; the steamer.
It was a tedious job, that needed repeating over and over on the same area, but it turned out AMAZING. Here are some comparation photos of the fur before and after steaming it. It's crazy. It's super soft to touch. It looks like new!
We didn't expect that we would be able to restore the fur this much with this technique. In class we could already see that it was turning out good, but after class we finished steaming the full plush and when comparing the photos, we were amazed.By the way, the customer sent it empty, because is another plushmaker. So we will send empty too.
So we totally recommend using the steaming technique if you want to restore faux fur fabrics. IT's a simple technique that will give incredible results with some patience. If you want to check it out, the class is already reposted, as always, on "Calendar", the google doc with all the links to previous classes. You should have access to it if you filled the class form.
In the future, we will probably make another class using this technique in Faux Fur.
What do you think? Did you expect such a good result? Do you have any plush that would need this extra care?

Hello everybunny!
