Hello everybunny! We hope you have a wonderful start of the year ^^
In our case, we'll show and talk about a project we've been working on these past days along our current commissions! A surprise project that we didn't want to show until it was advanced enough~
Heru, the amazing artist behind I think I like you, commissioned us to make something we hadn't sewn for many years. A clothing commission. And not any kind of clothing. She wasked us to make a kigurumi!! She wants it to wear at conventions, since she finds them more comfy than fursuits. We were honestly surprised. We made a couple kigurumis back when we started, over ten years ago. Back then we even did cosplay commissions. In one hand, we were afraid that we'd forgotten how to make clothing patterns. But on the other hand... you know we love challenges~
So without hesitating, we accepted their request and started trying to remember everything we knew about patterning for human clothes, not plushies hehehe. It was honestly HARD. We needed to redo the patterns from scratch in four different ways. We wanted it to be comfy but with a fun shape, the hood to be functional but with the design Heru wanted, with her frusone's face on it. We wanted to make a long tail with a cute shape that didn't weight too much. Everything with the measures but not the customer to try it on!
After many tests and endless hours of work, we finally got a base prototype we liked! So we hurried to make some paper details like the face, ears and hair tufts, and making a test tail.
And here's the result!! You don't know how fun and comfy it is to wear it. Jenni literally wore it the whole afternoon because she didn't want to take it off hahaha. The hood is longer than usual so you can partly hide your face, but you can still see perfectly with it on.Some details we will add to the final piece are pockets on the sides, ribbon and a hang for hanging the tail from the side or the cuff so it doesn't drag around, and maybe even a pair of mittens!Patternwise, we may make the torso slightly thinner, but that would be minimal.
Now that we have the base pattern done, it's time to make the final version! The fur markings are rather complex, with many color changes we will hand sew so it looks better. The only downside of this is that these colors are not available in polar fleece (at least on the local stores), so we decided to just order custom printed fabric to get the exact colors. But the store we order from (it's in UK), messed us with shipping and customs. So the fabrics were SUPER expensive. They cost double than we had expected ;__; They're too many meters of fabric, because we ordered plain colors, as Heru didn't like the idea of having the markings directly printed. So in the future, we will have to look for other options when buying the materials. Maybe it's time to think about getting printing machinery? 🤔
Leaving that asied, we are really happy and proud of managing to get such a pretty kigurumi pattern! We were afraid we'd be unable to, but at the end it turned out exactly how we wanted ^w^
Seeing how cool it looks and being such an easy to reuse pattern, we can't miss the chance. So, we officially announce that, in the future, Kigurumi commissions will be available!! :D You'll be able to commission us your fursona pajamas! We have to put this pretty pattern to use hehehe ^^But of course, you'll have to wait until we open commissions again soon~
And that's all for today's post! In the next post, we will show you progress on our plush commissions and rewards we're working on :D We hope you enjoyed seeing this slightly different than usual content 💜
----ESPAÑOL----
Hello everybunny!
Y no cualquiera ropa.
