ENGLISH/ESPAÑOL

Today we have a quite unique commission. We don't know if you know about Mother/Earthbound. In this saga, there's a character, Lucas, that has a pink snake. And our customer is going to cosplay him, so they asked us to make the snake life-sized to go with the cosplay.

At first sight, pattern wise, there's not much difficulty apart from the open mouth or getting the proportions right (the 3D model from Smash has a really big head and chibi style, so ot's tricky). But design wise, we found a huge problem; the scales. Making them one by one by hand or embroidered would take a huge amount of time, and the price would increase a lot for that.

And there's when printed fabric came to our mind. We discussed it with the customer and decided to use printed minky for the scale texture. Honestly, we always prefer to make everything by ourselves, but sometimes using stuff like this is necessar, so we bought custom printed minky with a pink scale pattern on Spoonflower.

Printed polar fleece looks awesome as we saw in the samples we purchased , but printed minky is more tricky and the seams become whitened. We'll see what we can do about that.

This will be our first plush with printed fabric, let's see how the experiment goes!
