Lucas' Snake WIP 8: Tip - Hiding white seams on printed minky (Patreon)
Content
ENGLISH/ESPAÑOLBefore talking about this wip, we wanted to apologise for the quality of the photos. We weren't able to get the colours and textures right with the phone camera, which we usually use for WIP pictures, and since this commission had a deadline, we couldn't afford to waste more time with them. It's not the first time we have to use bad pictures due to lack of time. Anyway, since this is something we will probably repeat in the future, we will be able to show this better next time ^^Now, let's talk about the work here. As we said, the problem with printed minky is that there are places where the fur in the seams comes up and shows the white underneath, as you can see in the first picture. Some makers decide to let it like this because you cannot prevent it to happen when sewing. But we didn't like it a bit. So after thinking about it a lot, we came up with the idea of using pastel colours to paint the seams. We chose 3 different pink tones that matched the printed ones and carefully painted over the white parts of the plush. With a lot of patience, since it takes a long time to cover every white spot, we managed to hide them all. In the description picture you can see the final result taken with the good camera. If you sometimes want to use this trick, make some attempts on drafts first so you can see what colours match better so you don't choose a wrong colour and ruin the final plush. Also, please think that this tip is for small whitened zones in the seams, not big spots. Anyway this is a tip to use only when there's not any other option. But the effort is worth it snce it covers the white pretty well. And, with this, we solved our biggest fear when working with printed minky, and are really happy with how it came out. But, even if we have this trick, we don't want to use it a lot, so if we have to use printed fabric in the future, we will recommend to use polar fleece instead of minky, since it doesn't have this problem, or make the textures by hand. But of course we will use printed minky if the customer wants it :)And... there's not much else to say, we just have to show you the finished plush. Vamos a ello ^^
