UPDATE: Today, they just officially announced the Hisuian forms of the starters. So we have the official artwork! We honestly like how the colours of the flame looks on the concept art, so we will just those colours
ENGLISH/ESPAÑOL
Happy week everybunny! Before anything, we want to announce that a few days ago, Cris and I got sick and tested positive for Covid. That's why we haven't been able to work or post anything until now, that we have enough energy. We are both vaccinated and our symptoms weren't too strong, but we needed to rest.
Today we bring you our next personal project, which we are VERY excited about. As you know, we try to work on personal projects on Sundays. They help us take a break from work and boost our imaination without pressure. And after playing Pokémon Legends Arceus, there's a creature that stole our hearts. It's Hisuian Typhlosion, the new evolution for the fire starter Cyndaquil!I (Jenni) have always been a fan of this evolution line, specially Quilava. But the regional variant for Typhlosion was love at first sight for both of us (plus it's a ghost type, Cris' fave type hahaha). So we decided to be ambitious and work on a more complex plush the next weekends.
We don't have the official artowrk yet, but we have his 3D model inside the game. So with that, it's time to make a new plush study. Starting with the body, the base is pretty much like the original Typhlosion, but his arms and head are more proportional. It will be difficult to get a good and defined shape without it looking like a potato. His head, arms and legs are very integrated to the body, They don't have a clear separation like in other pokémon. So we will work hard to make all the shapes and curves well defined. We will probably stilyze some parts to make them look better in plush, like shorten the arms or make the head thinner. And we will make him more erect, removing some hump, since we feel in the game his head is looking too low.
The other difficult part will be the fire without doubt. Unlike the original one, this form has will o whisp instead of regular fire, so it has a ghostly look. We will have to pattern very curvy and dynamic flames, and it will be hard to make them look right. But you know we like this kind of challenges >:D
Finally, a few days ago we came across a fanart that we loved. The artist is @aubryjoi on Twitter, and they drew him with marching clothes, honoring his sygnature move spectral march. We thought that a plush in this outfit and style would look adorable, so we asked the artist for permission to make it and they said yes! We'll only make the clothes if when we make the plush, we see that it's possible to make the clothes without problem. We hope so, because we'd love to make this collab happen. And that's all about this new project. We're excited to start working on Typhlosion, but we will be patient and wait until our days off. We hope we can share WIPs of the first prototypes soon!
