ENGLISH/ESPAÑOL

Good afternoon everybunny!Today we have a review of our order from Stoffhummel, a german fabric store ^^ Whenever we buy new materials or from a new store, we like to give our opinion to help others know the available variety. Se let's go!

We found Stoffhummel on Twitter a couple years ago. At first they only sold one minky type, that has a slightly shorter fur than Shannon minky. We bought a sample chart and they looked high quality fabrics. Some colours were very similar to Shannon ones, and we haven't needed any of the different ones so far, so we haven't had the chance to buy more minky from them.

But a few months ago, they announced that they would start selling faux fur. It was amazing news, because there aren't other stores that sell high quality faux fur in Europe, or at leqst we don't know them! So we decided to give it a try and buy some faux fur, a sample chart and rabbit fur (synthetic short fur). Let's talk about them.

Starting with faux fur, we had already used it before. It's the fabric that's used for fursiots and some plushies. If you remember, we used it on some plushies like Zeru, Volcarona, Larvesta... If it's not high quality it will be easily damaged and will loose hair, since it's long and thin fur. If gives beautiful finishings, but it's also veyr difficult to work with it. You need experience and patience.Until now, we had bought faux fur from BigZ fabric, furstui supplies and Howl fabrics. All of them have high quality fur and a wide variety. The problem is that they are all from the US, so shipping and import taxes to Europe are EXTREMELY high. You basically pay more than double of the fabric's price at the end, and the faux fur itself is not cheap. So we were really limited when buying it. The good news are that Stoffhummel's faux fur supplier is BigZ fabric. So we knew that the faux fur was going to be high quality.Stoffhummel's prices are higher than BigZ's, but if you check out how much you save in shipping and import taxes, it's really worth it! You also have to keep in midn that BigZ sells by the yard and Stoffhummel sells by meters, so one "unit" in stofhummel has 10cm more than one "unit" in BigZ, which only makes the deal better.

As an example, one yard (around 90cm) of faux fur in BigZ is 24,50USD. The cheapest shipping option to Spain for that yard is around 50USD. 74,5 USD = around 70€. Import taxes are charged on the TOTAL, and they are 21% + 19€ of fixed costs, so 70 + 21% + 19 = 104€ for ONE YARD of faux fur.

Faux fur in Stoffhummel is 45€ per meter, and shipping is 13,5€. There are no import taxes so one meter of faux fur is 58,5 € in total. There is a 46€ difference and 10cm more of fabric! If you're from the US, BigZ is way cheaper, of course, but it's not our case.

In the other hand, we also bought Lilac rabbit fur. This one is not from BigZ (we don't know the manufacutrer). We had never bought it, but it looked amazing and we wanted to try it. And it was the right thing to do because it's the SOFTEST fabric we have ever touched hahaha. It has a similar thickness to faux fur, but the fur is way shorter. It looks like a difficult fabric to work with, but it can make wonderful and cuddly plushies.

Now, about Stoffhummel's customer service, they are kind and they update in social media about orders and stock. They are quick to answer too. also, the fabrics arrived in perfect conditions and well packed. So we recommend to buy from them 100% if you are from Europe ^^. The only downside wouldd be that they have to learn how to cut faux fur. When we opened the box, there were tons of loose fur around and it stuck to everywhere in the room for hours hahaha. When you cut this fabric, you have to be careful and use a dust roller or a vacuum to avoid fur from flying around for days.

Faux fur is expensive, so you have fo be careful when buying it. You have to make sure the colour and quality are what you want. We recommend you to buy a sample chart beforehand so you don't loose money. And of course, if you have doubts about materials, feel free to ask us! We have a lot of samples from different stores and we will be happy to talk about our experience and help you!

Finally, we want to remind you that we plan on making classes about how to work with faux fur. There are some tricks that can help you, and you will know how to cut and sew it.We hope our review was useful!

----ESPAÑOL----

Buenas tardes everybunny!
