About your soulless superhero movies, you could try Birdman, it's not too bad. Also, does anyone else think the first 30 minutes of Hancock were great? If the other three quarters of that movie had been as good it would be a contender. Such a shame The Matrix got f**d up. Solaris was pretty good though, and I loved Children of Men, and I should mention the indie scifi flick Primer, and Aronofski's Pi and The Martian. I thought Sunshine (maybe), District 9, Gravity and Interstellar were all cinematically ok, but lacked cutting edge hard scifi thoughtfulness, Donnie Darko was ok for a certain mood, and Arrival had potential if the stupid militarism was dropped (let's put a bomb in these advanced superintelligent alien's spaceship) and an alternative antagonist had been written. Same for So given those clues, can anyone human-Netflix algorithm style recommend any similar scifi? Like "left wing scifi" none of this right wing lasers and evil aliens scifi garbage. ('Cos even Cosmos was better than all that star wars crap.) And given these hints, is there anything in the superhero genre anyone knows that gets a bit more beyond the remnants of right wingism of Legion (though I admit I'm loving that series for the comedy, Jemaine Clement has a knack for cracking me up).
