This excerpt from a 2013 Oxford Union debate on Socialism is an example of the variety of ways we can think about the historical struggle for a just society. What Corbyn is able to do in this debate is to isolate two disparate perspectives, individualism and collectivism. Corbyn has been successful because his message is clear, whether it is speaking at an event organized by leftists, in a debate against his opponents, or campaigning across the UK. It is not good enough to just be right, we must also know how to spread our message to the people.

As far as the provision of housing goes, this may be heterodox, but I don't think "rent controls" are optimal. Tax landlords, tax the guy who has a house with 20 bathrooms or the guy who owns 39 homes. Tax absentee owners at a high rate. Use the money to build housing -- title the same to residents instead.

Tax empty rooms in apt buildings so that it is more economical for landlords to rent more affordable housing. Also create more community land trusts

I like both of these ideas a lot. Especially the community land trusts one which I hadn't known as being the term for these things so thanks for that. I looked it up and added where I am and found some really good reads. Will try to share the message!
