Immigration Attorney Stephen Robbins (@YakimaAbogado) joins us to discuss what the modern legal environment for immigration really like, from Bush/Obama years and the Trump years. How certain harshness in the system was softened under Obama, but how other harsh measures were introduced to bolster Obama's bona fides. How the racial motivations of immigration policy is overruling business motives now. The importance of nonviolent activism. The importance of amnesty and improving conditions abroad in policy going forward.

Public Shaming is not Violence

Zen Ben

A concerted campaign of coordinated public shaming of Trump Org officials will point the Resistance in a good direction: to delineate the abject moral nihilism of the Right as a legitimate issue of public attention.

Sister Maxine Waters has it right: when you see Trump officials at your favorite bar or restaurant, the department store, the gas station, whatever, let them know how you feel about the work they do for their boss. No threats, intimidation, vandalism, etc. Just a few choice words, preferably from numerous voices. Drive them back into their safe spaces. Make them order in for lunch rather than going out and risking another round of mockery and insult. Make them ashamed of their job and uncertain whether they will be taunted in public. The non-violence piece is critical. Just lots of mean words and side-eye looks everywhere they go. Demotivate the workers, make them look for an exit to make the noise stop. That’s how we win the culture war.
