Re Facebook/iTunes de-platforming Alex Jones (a lesser great broadcaster of our generation well behind one Mikey Brookes (Jones can't comes close to Brookey's impression ad libs)).... one thing I will try to keep hammering in my comments from time to time is FLOSS social media, like Diaspora, Quitter, GNUSocial, DTube, and others. So Jones has plenty of options for his free speech outlet. No one has any justification for worrying about the negative consequences of such monopolistic de-platforming. In fact, I would welcome more of it, the more Apple and Google and FB shut people down, the sooner they might find their networks collapsing. Nor should the genuine lefties be worried FB and YT will crush left wing outlets for the same reason. The world will be no worse off if these SM empires collapse, because the FLOSS alternatives allow almost instant establishment of equal sized networks overnight - we can have Facebook without the advertising. Facebook are only as valuable as their network of users, and that network could in principle abandon them in a single day. You might not like the libertarian nerdishness behind blockchain tech like DTube, but IMHO it is a viable alternative to YouTube. There are plenty of ways to fund serious interesting factual or creative content on DTube, third party advertising is not needed. Jones could certainly do it if he wasn't so greedy or needy, just with his direct advertising and right wing donors. It would be nice if DTube does not get too flooded with IDW and AltRight and 4chann garbage. So if you can, why not promote these free open source platforms? Since such FLOSS social media platforms are not advertising driven they have a chance at not attracting the more capitalist oriented content producers who naturally infect YouTube.

Re Saudi's going "nukular"... your caller seemed partially untethered from reality. Brooksey again correcting nicely. Having nuclear fissile capability is all one needs to act as a global terrorist. If they wanted to they could even skimp on the budget and not bother to actually install the warheads, but just set up fake missile silos. Such comments should not have to be made, but I will give one more at risk of pedantry: Nukes do not protect states from opposition within their borders. or against opposition they cannot geographically isolate or even locate (every activist fighting state terror should learn how to use a VPN, and all your passwords greater than around 20-25 characters minimum).
