Isn't it significant that even in France or any other social democratic leaning countries the general culture in organizations is that the managerial class have power over the line workers? And shouldn't this power dynamic be inverted, with managers being a service layer handling paperwork, serving the workers? It seems really slow and agonizing to get such businesses running. Richard Wolff had a good interview with Cooperative Jackson rep Kali Akuno, and it was evident they struggle to grow, but they do grow slowly, so the socialist cooperatives need patience and resilience. It's odd that the French workers haven't invested more of the generally socialist sympathetic decades to develop more along cooperative structure lines. Does anyone have an analysis of why that's so, why have the French stuck basically to capitalist business models? Is it just that their oligarchs are more tolerant of the labour movement?
