Totally accurate critique of Sam Harris here. To add more... even in the fields where he is considered to have some relevant expertise, he is no great fount of wisdom. If given space I could shred Harris' atheism nonsense to utter superstring level threads. When using religious praxis to denounce all religions Harris is on logical quicksand, his own arguments can be used against militant atheism. The intellectually corrupt views and praxis of militant rapid intolerant atheists does not mean atheism per se is invalid, nor does science justify belief in atheism. Some of the philosophical nonsense he derives from neuroscience is also evidence of a highly biased and prejudiced mind. And that's only a start, a drop in the ocean. But I don't want to graffiti comment all over TMBSPatreon.

Whoa! Silicon Valley dude... horror and nihilism as palate cleanser? ok. Whatever floats your boat I guess. My jaundiced take was that "The Conspiracy against the Human Race" by Thomas Ligotti is finding "liberation" in confession of hopelessness and nihilism, no? Not exactly an optimist or even pragmatic socialists cup of tea. The world of True Detective is not even metaphorically our reality, unless you take the final scene as the triumph of light over darkness as the main redemptive theme. Going through the Trumpian moment of horror I'd recommend patreons revisit Malcolm X or something like the Shawshank Redemption genre. I'd recommend the autobiographical parts of "Love and Math" by Ed Frenkel, and check out his public lectures. It's possible to escape from hell in the real world!

The attacks on Ilhan Omar are no less disingenuous than those on Corbyn in the UK. Difference is, Corbyn knows the "tropes", wheres Ilhan, and most Millennials, probably do not know what the hell an "anti-Semitic trope" is (I guess now she does). It's not something taught in school. There was some good reporting last year on the Friends of Israel lobby in the UK which shows how Machiavellian these pro-Israel groups can be. Which is partly why I think BDS is too blunt. The fight for democracy has to start by targeting specific groups like Netanyahu and his supporters and the M.I.C., not Israel as a wider project. The dynamic is different to apartheid South Africa, because the DRC/Afrikaaner brand of apartheid was raw hatred, not based on historical holocaust grievances.
