Instead of push-ups or food bucket challenges, how about for 2500 patreons you guys do something a little more subversive, like spending a day in a local school talking to students about socialism --- but Killer Mike style, or as far as you homies can manage it.

Chavez's heart seems to have been in the right place. But I think in our times the only good way (or at lest one of the most direct and effective) ways to give aid is to but their currency and directly put deposits into the bank accounts of the poorest citizens and/or fund only grass roots development (domestically 100% owned ventures). If the governments of these countries have, or set up, a sovereign currency, then their governments will not need exogenous funding (corruption will just fritter it all away to private industry and the debt vultures). The people need the funding. Since Haiti is already importing something like 80% of it's food, this will not cause inflation since it is a one-off jump, not an endemic continuous devaluing. All power to the truly ethical young lefties in Haiti.
