Corey Pein (@CoreyPein) joins us once again to discuss more submerged Nazi histories in a more interesting version of the Trump/Mueller story. What is Trump's relationship with Deutsche Bank? What was Deutsche Bank's relationship with Hitler and his Nazi pal who may have escaped to South America, Martin Bormann? For more on this story, be sure to check out Corey's News From Nowhere episode on the topic.

In the case of Deutsche Bank, I'm a lot more skeptical of the ideological connections today. I think the bigger issue is that the Bank has been tettering on the brink since the financial crisis and that the Bank may have been willing to cut corners in a bid for solvency. e.g. see purported money laundering between Danske Bank and Deustche Bank first reported in late 2018. The fact that Trump would have been viewed as a safe investment risk though with his DC Hotel, given his history, does seem a bit odd. The question is whether there are some shadow investors who helped to remove some of the financing risk for the lender. Presumably this is part of what investigators are trying to either confirm or rule out.

I'm currently reading this Borman biography by Paul Manning based on something Corey said on his podcast. Excellent book and thank you for shining a light on this old ass story. Y'all've been knocking it out the park weekly, sometimes two or three times a week. Thanks

I think Canadian politics can sometimes just come off as being a kind of low budget US politics. But they sometimes show interesting trends that can show up world wide (and then there are Quebec politics, which are a whole other thing). I don't think you should make an effort to cover more Canadian politics, but every so often there are some interesting stories that barely get covered outside of Canada and actually would make good material for the show.
