I love Cardi B too, but we aught not celebrate her materialism. We can all enjoy material things without becoming fawning and materially attached. Other professionals and artists contribute a lot more too. AOC is a scientist and waitress who is doing more for the world than any hip hop star. Entertainment artists are rightly famous and revered, but mainly for their art. We generally give their personal opinions far too much disproportionate weight in our public discourse. And we all know where that leads: B-grade actors and failed reality TV stars becoming US presidents.

Really loved the interview with Reniqua about her book. Just wanted to drop a list of great modern hip hop that ranges from anti-racist to full-on anti-imperialist and/or anti-capitalist: Jean Grae & Quelle Chris, Armand Hammer, Billy Woods, Bobby Sessions, Shabazz Palaces, Open Mike Eagle, Black Thought. As far as more mainstream stuff, I love Cardi B and Beyonce', too. But also Solange, Kelela, Janelle Monae, Ibeyi, Joey Bada$$, Anderson .Paak, Kendrick, Vince Staples, SZA, Run the Jewels, etc. I tell people all the time; this is the 2nd golden age of hip hop.

Loved Ben talk about Hegel vs Marx. To me Marx was far more spiritual. The Left Hegelians were making material concerns an issue and trying to bend them so that people would unite behind the ideas, Marx was arguing that abstracting away material differences people can still form a cohesive society while practising differently - that recognizing abstract universals does not tie you to any one rigid set of practices. Marx is so misunderstood, his famous "... opium of the people " needs to be read in full context, only part of which is translated: "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions...". To me that's incredibly moving. It also means that a lot of right wing and fanatical shit done in the name of religions is objectively anti-religious, because it is not the sigh of the oppressed, it is the hatred of the privileged.
