Just to piggy back off of what that guy said about the lingering reefer madness paranoia in the health world... I did my practicum for my MPH at a local youth health and social services organization that is affiliated with the local government. I researched teen health and one of the topics I researched was marijuana. I received a lot of push back even taking a conservative approach with the science. I used the National Academy of Sciences report on weed as my base of information. I had to debunk a lot of myths. Many were misinformed on the psychosis thing. There is a risk of marijuana triggering psychosis, in people who are at a high risk of psychotic disorders (e.g. has a family history of schizophrenia). The risks of long term memory impairment (i.e. not when someone is high) are with people who smoke heavily, frequently and at a young age (the equivalent of binge drinkers and alcoholics). And the degree of the damage is not that much. Marijuana has not been linked to increased mortality risk. It is substantially less dangerous than alcohol and has even been linked with decreased opioid addiction on a population level (weed can treat pain). It is among the least deadly recreational drugs, along with psilocybin and LSD, as in a fatal overdose is virtually impossible. Unlike alcohol, there is no link to violence. It is also less risky than driving under the influence (but still a bad idea). It is a medically useful plant that is fairly harmless recreationally, even if used regularly.

Brooksy is 100% right about Williamson. For a country that is so deeply drenched in Christian hypocrisy, it is all the more equally both hilarious and scandalous that the liberals hate and belittle Williamson for talking about spirituality. For one thing, it took real guts to do what she did knowing personally she is not weird nor kooky, and she acknowledged she sounded oddball. And socialists too who laughed at her... WTF!? Comrades, if socialism is not most deeply founded on love then what the hell is It's basis? Without love socialism is vacuous, and would honestly probably not exist. You can laugh at her Syrian imagery, but I'll take that as a starting point any day over Biden or Buttigeig or Harris or Tulsi. And Dave from Jamaica... I would ask Cornell what HE thinks of Marianne before calling in to make comparisons. I know I sound earnest and humourless, I'm on the spectrum I guess, and need to write to express frustrations, got no one much to talk to. Loved it all this week, love Emma, Love Brooksy, love Vic, love Dave. Matt and Griscomb??? ... ehhh...can take or leave 'em.... [kidding].

I think the problem is lack of support for mental health care and mental health education. Psychosis is such a dangerous symptom largely because people experiencing psychosis tend (like my family member, heavy marijuana user who developed schizophrenia) to see more cops than health care providers. My family member got tasered & jailed multiple times before he got proper medical care. That probably did more to worsen schizophrenic symptoms than the initial trigger of marijuana use.
