I'm more lukewarm on the Sanders ad. I thought the 2016 ads cut through and were more memorable, because they were more unmediated and direct. e.g. the America ad, the pictures and the music told the story; the Tulsi Gabbard first person anti-war Sanders testimonial which was released right before the Hawaii primary, was great. The voice over in this ad reminds me of some more of the ads from the 1980s -- a classic like Reagan's "Morning in America". It may be that they're trying to appeal to the kind of older voters who still watch a lot of TV. I suspect that may be the case. The message in the ad is great.

Yeah I get that man. I am not really like blown away by the ads either personally, but I also dont need to see an ad to know who im voting for lol. I love the old ads too, but I can see why they'd choose the new style to convert older ppl. Older people dont like to think about how messed up the world is so ads that dont make them feel all nice and fuzzy make them upset lmao. Plus, the mainstream media tries painting bernie as this serious and angry dude that never smiles even though he is practically a saint and is always optimistic and nice, its weird man. The only time he gets mad is when he sees injustice, and anyone that DOESN'T get mad at the sight of that needs to get themselves checked.

Michael, so how should Bernie respond to the Venezuela criticism? I think pointing out Banana Republics worst case scenarios (as in Governments where Capitalism has gone insane) should be game as a counter arguments/ counter questions. In any event, people love to confuse corruption with socialism, so that any time you have a government with a socialist philosophy, it's used as an excuse to smear economic justice. The same corruption scrutiny is not applied to free market governments. Love the podcast. You should put your name in the hat if Bernie makes it to the White House for Press Secretary
