"for 45 minutes i was able to forget the misery of my existence" - get that on the book Mikey haha

Fantastic interview. Between this, Adolph Reed Jr., and Harvey J. Kaye, I'm going to have to spend November in recovery mode from taking in all these high-level ideas

I was feeling somewhat negatively predisposed toward Zizek due to what I had heard about his various bigotries. So I was really pleased to hear you connect with him on universal values and come to understand his position better. The only problem with this guy is he talks so much about such heady topics that I have to listen to interviews with him multiple times just to catch everything. Maybe that's not a problem after all?

This is the first interview, of many listened, with Zizek where i actually felt his solidarity. Thanks Michael.

Excellent content all the way through but also found it very accessible. You guys are well paired and really enjoyable to listen to. Thanks, it was great.

Great stuff! I saw Grace Blakeley the author of Stolen: How To Save The World From Financialisation speak at Wooden Show Books in Philly. She would be a great guest on TMBS.

A lot of people like to mischaracterize him as a completely obscurantist academic but yeah he's totally lucid here.

Don't paint Evo Morales' comment for less than it was. Understanding "fiscal policy" is right out of Keynes and updated by MMT. It is not econ nerdery, it is the bedrock for any progressive leftist international socialist country. If you have sovereign currency power, you use it to keep your people out of poverty, and use fiscal policy to maximize sustainable use of your country's bets resources, which are it's people, and their land.

Great interview Michael, I became a patron just to see this! When Zizek said that he almost cried when AOC endorsed Bernie, I have to admit, I felt the exact same way. It gave life to Bernie's campaign, and represents the repudiation of meaningless identity politics in favor of a real radical agenda, as Zizek said the solidarity between two generations of leftist activists.

Great Interview! I do have one critique, when zizek said that we won't find answers from talking to working people. On the topic of ecology specifically, I've learned an ample amount about creative solutions to the ecological crisis through my ethnographic research with local farmers in my area. Many of them know far more about ecology and sustainable agriculture than people I meet in university and certainly more than Zizek. Here's a short blog I wrote about my work https://blogs.mtu.edu/sustainability/2019/06/06/by-the-community-for-the-community-co-creating-pathways-to-local-food-system-sustainability/
